  1. Hope they succeed, but they make me wince from a financial perspective. DOJ may have gotten what they wanted... ...another Sprint!
  2. Wonder why they are still counting merger synergies? Though that was done.
  3. Verizon and AT&T have much higher baseline Capex spending than T-Mobile. For Verizon that likely means a more intelligent site upgrade process as compared to panic mode of a year ago.
  4. I think T-Mobile would take more in NYC. Lots of office interiors essentially require it. They would want it to be contiguous, which is much more important for 5g. Of course it needs to be cost justified.
  5. When you fall off their automated systems, it can quickly turn into a real quagmire. Once I ran into a hero by chance who rescued me, but don't count on it.
  6. Hopefully this is more of a call to arms for those in Oregon and Iowa to look for this pattern or variation of it.
  7. My only concern is maybe the US Cellular pattern is regional like Sprint.
  8. Was on a cheap airline flying for a major carrier over the weekend -- no wifi. Wonder if this would work for data on planes -- at least for window seats?
  9. Does the Dish network fully exist? The FCC and Dish agreed to how that will be tested: https://www.fiercewireless.com/5g/dish-gets-fccs-blessing-5g-buildout-commitments
  10. I think their will be much more focus on enforcement, given the industries reputation of being close to used cars (but not as bad as economy airlines according to an AT&T commercial shown above ). I do think there is a valid reason for having a low latency service higher priority service for gaming etc at a higher price, low priority with some guaranty of getting a reply for IOT and a much lower price, etc. Going beyond that, do the Bead subsidies (primarily for cable?) properly account for FWA? Low orbit satellite performance needs to pass the test of time (how overloaded will it get with more customers versus a vast multitude of satellites). Verizon's business model before n77 was definitely questionable -- most MVNOs would basically cease to function for standard data at busy sites. How should service function at festivals and emergencies? Is disclosure enough? Can poor performance be documented away? What about "4th carrier" startups? How to handle LTE phase outs for 5g SA which will eventually arrive? Some of this is very akin to real time operating systems versus time sharing system debates tempered by the many bands that are available.
  11. https://www.lightreading.com/fixed-wireless-access/t-mobile-verizon-disclose-fwa-usage-stats I disagree with this article. AT&T and Verizon have many rural sites without C-Band (or mmWave), which ultimately are use it or lose it for them due to licensing requirements. T-Mobile's rural FWA will greatly benefit once Auction 108 licenses are finally awarded. Thus much growth is left for FWA. So far the carriers have been going after the low hanging fruit in the suburbs and exburbs. In those places FWA may ultimately be forced out. Perhaps by then BEAD money would be better put to use to bury fiber in suburban back yards (or next to the curb). This assumes that FWA will result in more rural towers given better economics with wireless plus FWA revenue.
  12. https://www.fiercewireless.com/tech/verizons-joe-russo-explains-why-being-first-5g-sa-wasnt-priority Excuses or valid? likely a bit of both.
  13. https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/mobilexs-big-bet-walmart-and-whats-next I noticed that they have now broken out taxes from data, thus a very slight price increase.
  14. This thread is about the details of latest FCC effort for Net Neutrality starting in the Fall of 2023. As always with S4Gru, we are interested more in the various proposed mechanics without the politics. Hopefully the politicians are smart enough to realize that since the process will take years, it is best to go with a consensus approach. Otherwise there will likely be no real impact. First up will be title 2, which gives the FCC enforcement powers over the industry. A few articles to start your reading: https://www.fiercetelecom.com/telecom/net-neutrality-back-table-fccs-rosenworcel-takes-stand https://www.fcc.gov/document/chairwoman-rosenworcel-proposes-restore-net-neutrality-rules https://www.telecompetitor.com/here-we-go-again-fcc-gets-set-to-re-impose-net-neutrality/ https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/fccs-carr-bashes-plan-reinstate-net-neutrality
  15. Exists, but only 678 online, thus may have been down. Edit downdector.com confirms it was down this afternoon. Has tried to come back at least twice.
  16. To what firmware version did you lock your s21FE?
  17. https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/t-mobile-gets-little-closer-accessing-its-25-ghz-spectrum-auction-108 Senator Kennedy's bill to grant the FCC temporary auction authority to finish processing the Auction 108 licenses it has sold to their proper licensees. This would greatly benefit T-Mobile. This delayed process took what would have been a strategic advantage for T-Mobile (1 one year plus head start) and turned into catch-up, since AT&T and Verizon haven been busy installing their c-band n77 in rural areas.
  18. I don't see this as changing until CEOs are held accountable. My guess is far more people are affected by corporate hacking exposing their information (often with the help of unapplied patches and untested systems) than insecure passwords and insecure personal devices.
  19. "C-band not being available to VZW/AT&T ". Due to installation or licensing?
  20. https://www.talkandroid.com/382030-t-mobile-uncarrier-data-breach-glitch/ Reportedly a temporary issue during a system update.
  21. They reduced the number of months to 7 (April 2024). Dish wanted 12 iirc edit: https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/dish-gets-doj-support-800-mhz-extension
  22. You will have to upgrade your LG V30+ to a S22 or better for C-band plus DOD Lots of C-band installed, but I have not seen much DOD equipment in my very limited excusions.
