Can you tell me how you're finding the microwave permits?

@Rickie546 has actually found most of them for us, he'd be able to tell you more if he's around.

I notice that just in the last couple days the coverage map has been updated with at least 3 new sites in the Nebraska panhandle:  Scottsbluff, Hemingford, and Crawford.

Is Scottsbluff new? It kind of blended in with their Wyoming coverage I didn't notice it. Rather odd they added it without showing any 5G layer.

it appears that these are collocations with Verizon on American Tower sites.

We know that they have work in progress on a lot of American Tower sites across the state from 811 or digging permits. Seems like they have some sort of program to co-located on American Tower.

so far none of these new western sites is well situated to provide good service to the nearest population centers, they're all located several miles away from the nearest town and basically just highway coverage.

A lot of it appears to be whatever they can get to first, and getting highway coverage done. Should see more sites light up on I-80 soon.

If this is indeed the case, I will say that my first reaction is that the coverage maps are probably quite optimistic.

Probably... coverage closer to Omaha has been more realistic, but those western sites have really large coverage patterns for some reason.

It's almost like they're motivated to turn up the sites that can make the biggest visual impact to that Nebraska coverage map hole in their ads.

I'd say that's the biggest motivating factor here! Coverage map... not actual coverage. At least for now. They do seem aggressive on getting n41 on as many sites as possible, I assume to offer home internet coverage to the rural communities.

Ok so can we get a quick list of still viable dialer codes?  Some work, some have seemingly been disabled.  Just the top 5 most useful. S22 ultra.

I'm assuming the ones from the S21 Ultra work with the 22...

    I only use two regularly,
    *#0011# for the debug screen.
*#2263# for the band selection screen.

Thank you so much for tracking this! I haven't been on here in YEARS, but did some digging and found this! I have also been keeping tabs on the expansion, and this looks great.

The areas around Lincoln definitely need some love. It seems like every carrier besides Verizon avoids filling in rural Lancaster/surrounding counties. Been that way forever and I don't know why. Even USCC is weak in rural Lancaster.

    Looking forward to other updates!

They are doing *lots* of work around Nebraska! Before October there was no coverage outside of the old Sprint footprint, now they are all over the state. Not everywhere of course, but pretty impressive what they have done in a few months. And everything we have seen (a lot of microwave permits all around the state) indicated they will continue full steam ahead next year. Of course, a little slower for now thanks to the weather. We know they are adding sites around Lincoln to expand the footprint out to more of Lancaster County, however when those sites will come online we don't know, but it should be over the course of next year, possibly by Summer!

Other than S22 with the all-bands-enabled fix, right?

I applied the fix as per

https://s4gru.com/forums/topic/8304-galaxy-s22-thread/?do=findComment&comment=563978 and get SA N25 ok here in Raleigh.

I would not consider that to be native support since you're doing a bit of a hack to get there. S22 and S21 lines should support it, but so far only have NSA n25 native support.

Is this more of a coverage boost or speed boost? If it's a coverage boost, what would the coverage map look like after they flip the switch?

For most places it's likely just a capacity boost, adding another layer. If a site is ready for n25, it almost assuredly already has another layer of 5G already active. It might offer a slight coverage boost on a site by site basis if the particular site in question is lacking n71. This new layer won't result in a notable increase in coverage for many. The only places that may benefit are rural areas that are lacking in sites where T-Mobile may be forced to fill out the coverage (aka Nebraska), which is already happening.

Separately, I'm on Unlimited Freedom and got migrated to the T-Mobile billing system today.  Got the text during the day, and just now set up my account.

I don't mind Sprint billing, but I only go on there once a month so probably not enough to be bothered by anything haha.

I took T-Mobile up on their $25/month home internet deal.

I was a little annoyed this week that the T-Mobile home internet deal wasn't available to those of us still on Sprint billing. I wanted to sign my parents up for it since their 80/10 internet is getting way to expensive for they get for it. My dad is able to pull 800/100 off the T-Mobile site next to their house.

I reread everthing and can see where you are coming from.  Some aspects are definately foward looking: “We’re rapidly executing on our vision to deliver the highest capacity network this country has ever seen". I need to test on a s22, but that phone is currently not available to me for a few more days.

Cellmapper seems to show more n25 than I would have expected, but I am not clear on how well Cellmapper is able to identify what kind of 5G it is connected to when it is in NSA mode. I know it finds SA 5G just fine, but the lack of any cell data (that I can see) on n25 makes me question the amount of coverage. That said, if it is accurate, I suppose they could meet the POPs number to claim nationwide. I certainly have not seen any n25, NSA or otherwise.

But again....this is about seeing if a similar feature exists for the Pixel 7 series.  It would seem that the answer is no.

I'm not entirely sure how casting to TVs work as I never do it. I have a Chromecast with Google TV so all the apps are built in. I haven't "cast" anything from my phone in years. Can you set up a router, even without an internet connection, and cast through that wifi network? No clue if that would work just trying to come up with solutions.

take the train from the precinct to Best Buy in Buckhead to trade this thing back in lol.  Good riddance!!

I'm very surprised you dislike the device so much. My brother just traded in his S20+ for the P7 Pro and loves it, feels like a good upgrade for him.

    Wi-Fi direct

Yes I have used that... but not to cast my screen. Inside the wifi menu, click the three dots at the top right to see if Wi-Fi direct is turned on. I'm not sure if it'll let you screen share though, as most phones just use it to transfer files anymore now that the majority of devices have Chromecast-like screen casting built in.

I've never had wifi at home.  Ever.

Why..... just ..... why? Ought to know better.

They call it smart view.  I even do it at a friend's place or at a sports bar on occasion.  The receiving tv just has to accept it and then it's seamless.  It's one of the main reasons a lot of people use Samsung devices.

I cast to a Samsung smart TV with my S21 but it still requires wifi so ... 🤷‍♂️

  11. 1 hour ago, JonnygATL said:

Is there a way to mirror this thing to my smart tv without having to have wifi, the way I've always done with Samsung phones both at home and at work?

I've been using Samsung devices for a couple years and I've never been able to mirror without wifi? I'm not sure what exactly you're talking about.

Thanks for the heads=up! So they added n78 to the mix but still no n25-SA?

I guess for now we'll have to do the "hack" method to enable N25 SA.

Unless they do another quickie update.  If it is the next normal update, it will be in 2023 probably.

SA n25 was in the S21 Ultra, but they took it away, so may not want it to be used yet for some reason.

I have had no issues with SCP, however, many app notifications have been odd. Weird notification chimes, then the next time it'll go back to the right noise, etc.

It no longer shows signal strength in the notification bar for me.

    3) the face unlock is super aggressive. While driving, I have my phone in a charging dock on my dash, but I run wireless AA. Don't need the phone screen on, but it aggressively looks for my face and unlocks quickly. Screen will dim, go black, and immediately open again when it catches any part of my face. May have to disable the face unlock at this rate.

I haven't run into that issue, I have mine in a charging dock on my dash all the time.

  14. With the discovery of 3 more converted sites in Omaha this week, it brings the total number of converted sites to over 100 in what used to be the West Iowa / Nebraska Sprint market. There are a couple sites that are converted but not yet broadcasting that I am counting in that number. And yet, T-Mobile still has open conversion permits on ~25 sites in Omaha with an additional ~30 that are still online and broadcasting the keep PLMN that we know of across the market.
