  1. Lets see... lets see..

    - 20+20+20 or 3 carrier aggregation is not yet finalized in software testing or field implementation. All three vendors must be completely done with all field testing before they start doing a nationwide staggered rollout.

    - Not all spectrum is free. WiMax is still holding a substantial amount of spectrum up as they did tend to love using different frequencies on each sector.

    - Backhaul is a substantial issue with things as it stands. A good portion of 2.5 sites still lack upgraded backhaul to enable a second carrier and forget about a third.

    - Sprint sites are not all designed to max out every single available piece of spectrum. Backhaul is pricey especially when you need upwards of 2+ gigabit per site.

Most standard 2.5 sites will have 3 carriers deployed at any time. At the highest usage sites they will add more B41 carriers and that is known as a high capacity site. It'll be 40+40 or 60+60 and they have the option to virtually split the sectors and the antenna into 4T4R so 6 sector B41 sites. Each "chain" maxes at 60 MHz or 20+20+20 (3x20) x 2 chains (total 120 MHz maximum).

    TLDR: NOT READY YET.

As always thank you tim. This should be pinned.

  2. phones don't yet support 3 carrier agitation for band 41, so adding a third carrier would add capacity not max speed. I am unsure of the hardware requirements for 3 band 41 carriers. Perhaps someone else can answer if the 8t8r panels are capable of 3 CA?

Tim talks about it. Each set up (antenna and RRH) can do 6 carriers which three will soon be aggregated together.

That is a lot of backhaul needed for this to be accomplished.

  3. http://247wallst.com/investing/2015/09/26/big-insider-buying-seen-in-sprint-sears-level-3-weatherford-and-more/

Sprint Corp. (NYSE: S) continues to see the company’s shares gobbled up by Softbank, the Japanese multinational telecommunications and Internet company. The firm bought an additional 13,334,431 shares of the carrier at prices that ranged from $4.24 to $4.66 per share. The total for the trade came to a whopping $59.1 million. Sprint shares were trading on Friday’s close at $4.30.

They are heading to S Corp or non public. Would be realatively easy to reissue debt as well under non public debts laws.
  4. Hasn't passed the cost/benefit analysis. Almost no local population to substantiate cost for service. And the roaming that is occurring as people fly through at 80 MPH has not justified it.

I would like to see it. And there may be enough usage in Raton and Trinidad to support one site in those towns. I wouldn't hold my breath, but something could happen in this gap.

One could hope.  Just through up 800 voice and band 26.  That would be awesome.

  5. That one is on former affiliate Alamosa PCS.  Why Alamosa did not do more in what should have been its biggest, best market is a mystery.

    AJ

Why hasn't Sprint done anything with it?  Looking at the FCC database, Colfax county they have PCS B (all 30 mhz), PCS D (10 mhz) and PCS G (10 mhz).  In addition SMR which I believe in Colfax is 25 or 26 mhz.  THis is the same as ABQ and more than El Paso.

  6. I see there are two maps on their website for their coverage. A CDMA coverage and a GSM coverage. If you have a phone that is capable of both (like an iphone) would you roam on CDMA only or on GSM as well?

For the reasons noted, I hope that NGN increases the number of the sites in New Mexico (at least finish I25 from Las Vegas to Walsenburg).

  7. So the last two weeks I've noticed a performance decrease in 3 areas: cell reception (1x, 3G, & LTE), WiFi reception, and Bluetooth connectivity range (goes about 1/3 of what it used to).

I'm finding my phone on Extended a lot more than I used to and do not get a usable wifi signal on my front patio like I used to. Bluetooth cuts out around 5 ft or when I go behind an object (like a wall or even my body).

Anyone notice a similar trend? I'm on the 9.1 beta (but was also occurring on 9.0) and carrier bundle 21.5 with wifi calling activated.

i think the last three or four carrier bundles suck. Plain and simple.

  8. All the presumed US LTE 2xCA pairs given not all were required to be fully tested (particularly B4).

    2+2/4/5/12/13/17/29

    4+2/4/5/7/12/13/17/29

    5+2/4

    7+4/7

    12+2/4/30

    13+2/4

    17+2/4

    25+25

    30+12

    41+41

Can Verizon aggregate band 13 with anything else? I thought it was LTE release 8.

  9. This has been the least exciting iPhone announcement since I got hooked on iPhones some years ago. I'm happy that it has TD-LTE CA now, and band 12, and 2 gigs of RAM. No battery life improvements, or much else really. Very incremental. I'm definitely waiting for the 7. Also I see AT&T has its own version this year. I wonder if the SIM free unlocked model will be that one this year like last years was the Sprint version because of TD-LTE.

I disagree. I think this is the most powerful S edition to date.

-Force touch will change phone gaming

-2GB of RAM is finally here with A9 processor

    -12MP camera

This all beats the 5 to 5s handily.

  10. Unfortunately that probably means it wasn't changed and is still 1GB. I'd be very happy if someone proved me wrong.

I kind of want this upgrade just for the LTE support.. I'm on everything data family halfway through my contract on my 6 plus. If I switched to iPhone forever and turned in some cheap smartphone (I have plenty) would it be $15 or $5 (loyalty discount)? If it's $5 I'd go for that immediately.

This is what I have found here: http://www.androidauthority.com/iphone-6s-6s-plus-release-specs-640994/

Quote"First off, Apple is finally moving away from its reliance on devices with 1GB RAM, with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus both offering an Apple A9 chipset with 2GB RAM. The new chip claims to boast 70% faster CPU performance and 90% GPU performance over the Apple A8. For those into fingerprint scanners, Apple also promises double the speed with its 2nd-gen scanner."
