  1. Wow! So, i assume sprint spectrum portfolio in el paso should be similar to Albuquerques...you are right that is mind blowing.

Like all problems we have, Sprint needs to deploy the equipment necessary for us to access. I still think it will start later on this year (Sept/Oct) is what I am hoping.  If not, ok I'm a bad guesser. Nice part would be, the equipment should be fired up with at least two carriers going if not three.

  2. Sprint is going to use 60 mhz for 3CA. is that even possible in our markets?

From the spectrum dashboard, I have calculated that sprint has upwards to 100mhz in ABQ. I haven't done El Paso.  Sprint has enough 2.5 to have 5 carriers of band 41 if possible/needed which means they can aggregate 3 (3xCA and a 2xCA).

That spectrum alone in ABQ beats all of Tmo spectrum portfolio including AWS-3 they just bought. Let that blow your mind...

  3. Nice! If sprint would upgrade the pcs to 10×10 sound like it would be a really solid network

Funny thing is, I have LTE almost all the way to Gallup for work.  Just a couple of sites need to get finished.  There is no Band 26 out that way either. Works quite well on the highway.

Sadly, 10x10 is impossible in the near future. More likely for El Paso than ABq.

Being in Amarillo for work the last couple of weeks makes me very hopeful for band 41. The site spacing there isn't great but on my iphone 6 I can hold a -114rsrp to -120 and still get 10 to 20 megs down.  This is the reason why I won't leave. I can wait for it.

  4. My buddy at sprint said..." the reason sprint is stalling on network upgrades in el paso/Albuquerque, because there market share is so slim that they wouldn't see a return on investment. It would be a lose lose situation. He said the only thing they might do this year is convert remaining legacy sites and that's about it...any opinions ??

Completing the remaining legacy sites would be good. Im not surprised that Sprint has a low market share. Just remember, someone always has to be last. Sadly the Albuquerque market is one of those markets.

  5. So, this is my experience so far! Im not bashing sprint or t- mobile.... t- mobile site density much better then sprint by a long shot. Band 4 20×20 is lit up just about everywhere that i have traveled so far. So, that should mean im getting much faster speeds then i am on sprint? Ether T-mobile has such a huge makets share here or there backhaul is not upscaled to support 20×20 mhz yet... tower at my home area i can only use 4G LTE between the hours of 5am and 7am. Everywhere else im getting between 1 and 4mbps...but desnity is great i never drop below 5 bars

Shows that density doesn't help. Makes me wonder if people are abusing the network there.
  6. They already have 15+15 AWS LTE active (all of their AWS), and they have 15+15 of PCS holdings... I suppose they could do 15+15 PCS LTE if they shut down everything... but a 10+10 LTE channel would be more likely with 5+5 HSPA. 700 would be LTE, of course.

Have they already turned off GSM?  That surprises me if so.

  7. Just one more question...im still learning a lot....there are 2 towers that are close to my home.. which is the tower that i just uploaded and this one im posting now 8896c20985ff88a208545ab7f9083cf6.jpg the towers are about 1.2 miles apart from each other... could it be true that at times there could be a waterfall effect?

The middle rack is Sprint equipment.

Also only RRU 65's. No 800 RRUs up there.

  8. are you sure tho, that Sprint will make some investments by this summer here?

    Lets dissect yet again.

    1. The towers are already upgraded for the need of Band 41 (base station is already in place and fiber to tower). All that is needed is to add a carrier card and new antennae with RRUs.  If you were premier, you would see that Las Vegas got band 41 deployment over a short period of time (month or two) and the results are shown in the 1H2016 Rootmetrics report. No second band 25 carrier or band 26 and Sprint won the speed race.

    2. If Sprint is not working (which is obviously is not) find the other carrier that works for you. Seriously.

  9. Ya, appreciate the help... this should hold me over until we get the upgrades. Im checking permits weekly..i hope it's sooner then later !

Keep your eyes to the towers as well. You now know what to look for if they are adding an additional antennae for 4x2 mimo deployment. I haven't found it up here in ABQ even though there a lot of towers with two now.

Also, I would check out the thread about spotting small cells. There are small cells for Band 25 and for Band 41.  Knowing what those look like may help you as well.

  10. Sprint is also doing low key 4x MIMO deployment on 1900 LTE if your in a Ericsson market, should see around a 30% gain in signal performance. Will this help any?

Sent from my SM-G928P using Tapatalk

Yea it will help with signal strength but not really speeds. Hopefully the NGN project with small cells will help. There really isn't an answer to your issues. I would start submitting tickets and hopefully that they can identify where they need to add sites or small cells.

  11. What could sprint possible do to help out El paso(to increase speeds... until they can bring LTE plus here..

Sent from my SM-G928P using Tapatalk

nothing. El Paso and Albuquerque are spectrum constrained in the PCS blocks.  That is why I keep telling you, if sprint is working for you now, switch.  El Paso won't see significant improvement in speeds until later this year into next year. Just face that fact.

Edit: The only saving grace for ABQ is that Sprint is able to deploy band 26. Band 41 will be down in El Paso long before Band 26.

  12. And that would kill off free OTA TV as we know it. If broadcasters had to pay for their 6 MHz slices of VHF/UHF spectrum, many would seek to encrypt their digital transmissions and require compensation in order to watch. FCC rules and regulations regarding E/I programming, indecency, equal time, etc., would have to be thrown out the window.

No, your idea stinks. It would not be in the public interest.

    AJ

I am one of those cord cutters and use Slingtv with a rabbit ears. If I had to pay for local channels, that would be a deal breaker and would cut that as well. Yes the idea stinks.

I didn't cut the cord for any purpose other than I didn't want to spend so much on tv.
