  1. How long is this going to go on. The phone functions fine. It may not connect as quick as the others but it will connect. I don't even have to toggle the phone from airplane mode to on in order to get it to connect. It might not be the best in LTE performance but at the end of the day it still functions.
  2. Had this issue till around noon today. Since then I have had no issue connecting. Sent from my EVO using Forum Runner
  3. The fact that I have the phone has little to do with me commenting on the issue. The fact that because phone xyz connected to the network before the EVO has little to do with the comment. If the phone connects and stays connected is what is important to me. The phone in fact will connect and function on the network so it does in fact do what it supposed to. Not 100% to my liking but very few things in life do. It might be good to know for others that there could be issues in Baton Rouge because of how the network has poor spacing. You can't guarantee that in an area like Houston will have the same issues you will have once the network is finished, Because at current there is no area that is 100% and not still having towers upgraded. Even Waco still has towers that need to be upgraded to fill in its network. I don't regret my decision to buy the Evo I still think it is a better phone overall than anything out there. And I am sure that if anyone were ever compare devices by network the top choices would be the GS3 or the iphone regardless of market. Please don't get me wrong there is an issue and I will agree that it is a huge handicap for the phone. The fact is it will connect in good coverage and in the fringe it will drive you up the wall. It has failed to meet expectations on this matter.
  4. Is the phone a good phone if you can get over the issue with the LTE connection it is a good phone. However if you are looking for a phone that connects to LTE right away you might want to look at one of the other models out there. I am happy with the rest of the phone. I prefer the image quality both from the camera and the screen over the other phones on Sprint. I haven't had the reload issue since I removed an app that appears to have been incompatible with the phone. The overall performance seems to be on par with other new phones I have messed around with. I also believe that the fit and finish of the phone are superior to most other phones out there. With that stated there are days when the connection issue can start me second guessing all the above items. I never said the phone didn't have issues and I am not trying to defend a flawed device either. This is the third EVO model I have had and it might be the last. If any other company builds a phone that is as of quality without all the bugs in it I might jump ship. For whatever reason HTC hasn't and might not be able to fix it. I am sure anyone that is really unhappy with it will find a way to swap the phone out. I don't think anyone ever will use this phone as an example of Sprint's LTE network since Sprint itself has for the most part shoved it out the back door. I haven't seen any type of advertisement since shortly after July. Sent from my EVO using Forum Runner
  5. I am not sure how a market that today is only around 25% done gives you enough proof that there is a major issue. I live in Houston and still say there is an issue, but I don't know if in January I will say the same. Will HTC or Sprint fix it I don't know, will the market filling in do it I really have no idea. I will defer to those in Kansas City or other markets that are more developed to supply evidence to prove it one way or the other. Sent from my EVO using Forum Runner
  6. At IAH I am able to get about 10.52 mbps down and 5.26 mbps up ping is about 43. This is all averages of test done. Sent from my EVO using Forum Runner
  7. Maybe they are aware but chances are they are telling you what they think you want to hear. Over the weekend I opened a ticket with HTC and it reamains open because they state that their isn't an issue that they are aware of. They are telling me it must be a equipment issue either mine or Sprints. I am hopeful that one day this issue is solved but at current I am not sure either side knows where the issue really is or cares enough to solve the problem right away. In the end those of us who bought the phone are left with the problem. Sent from my EVO using Forum Runner
  8. Anyone notice they didn't mention any device older than the GS3. They dropped LG & the tri-band modem. It appears they are permoting their new devices with their new cities. Sent from my EVO using Forum Runner

    OTA for EVO Available

I am not sure if this has been posted but I just check for HTC software updates and got a HTC update for the ring tone assignment issue.
  10. Thanks for the heads up. Knowing my luck I will be in Phoenix when the update comes out and will have to wait and see how much of an improvement it is.
  11. Haven't heard of any updates on this issue since the last update that was sent out. Hopeful this is something that can be fixed with an update and that it will be sent out sometime soon. The more I read about other phones the more I realize that the EVO LTE has a greater issue. I original thought it was gaps in the network now I realize the phone plays a much greater part in the problem.
  12. It appears that once I have gotten a LTE signal in a area that anytime I have returned to that area my phone has switched from 3g to LTE within seconds of getting back in range. it might just seem that it has learned the signal areas or that the OTA has actually fixed some issues. It is just something I have noticed with time, this is also my second EVO LTE since the first one bricked on the last OTA for some reason. However my first EVO also appeared to be doing the same thing prior to turning into a paper weight. The EVO is far from perfect from what I have read but I am happy for the most part with the phone. I haven't had the chance to see or use any of the other LTE phones, most of my friends are with Verizon or AT&T.
  13. For what it is worth the choice is purely a personal choice. I believe that the iphone has failed to deliver in the this new one and the previous. The iphone 3 was the last huge advancement on the product and what drove androids advance. While people have had issues with the EVO I have found that as the phone learns the area it has gotten better at holding LTE even before the last OTA. It is a computer system that has to learn the environment it is in. It is just like your car learns your driving and when you change your driving the car performs strange for a period of time. If you are more of a Mac person I would go with the iphone it will be a fine phone and function just fine for you. However the other side is that the EVO or any android phone will give you more choice and options to choose from. I personally went from a windows phone to the OG EVO and am happy with android. I have friends and co-workers that swear by their iphone to each their own. You have already raised doubt in yourself that the EVO isn't for you give the iphone a test and see if it works for you. For me my life requires more then one button and one flavor so anything apple brings forward has failed to gain my attention. As I mentioned I think apple failed to present anything special I think they took a few side steps or even a step backwards with this offering. With that said I am sure they are presenting a product they like and will meet their core markets needs.

    OTA for EVO Available

By chance did anyone else have their phone turn into a paper weight today? My phone went to reboot and never made it past the HTC screen. Phone was stock with no modifications. I don't think the update had anything to do with it but just wanted to check.
  15. Today I noticed that speeds picked back up in the Humble/Kingwood area again. I was able to get 12 mbps down & up. This also happened while only getting one or two bars on my phone. It would appear that what ever was causing the decreased speed issues has been taken care of now. Also while on the way home tonight I picked up a new LTE signal that I hadn't picked up before. This one was also picked up with a weak signal. This connection was around 5 mbps down and up.
  16. Tomball has limited coverage right now. I have only made connections south of Tomball as you head back in to Houston. There have also been some issues as of late with the speeds on some of the towers. Wednesday of last week I tried running a speed test while getting an LTE signal and half way through the speed test I lost the signal. I was only getting around 1 mbps down at that point. Your best beat is to keep checking back as you get closer to being in the area.
  17. That's good to know I was just starting to wonder when I was getting these same type of speeds from towers in other areas of Houston. I got similar speeds at TX 249 & North Pointe Tomball area & again around US 290 & Sherwood.
  18. It appears that many of you that are getting 4g signals are getting good speeds from the sites you have connected to. Below is a speed test that was done today after work @US59 & 1960 in the Humble area. The speeds from this area had been good at one time but have dropped off to this as of late. Has anyone else noticed this or know what might have caused this? This one is a speed test from a few days after the launch of the network on the same tower
