  1. I got my OTA yesterday. Appears to not like to hold on to B41 as much. Before I was holding on to it much longer and getting good speeds. Now I'm on B25 a lot more. On my normal running route I would be able to stream music perfectly, now it skips in certain spots where it's on B25 instead of B41.

If you are relying on Signal Check Pro don't. Since upgrading to Marshmallow Google screwed up the LTE info that SCP uses. I was thinking that I was on band 25 alot until I checked the LTE engineering screen manually. For some reason Google's info is reporting that every band is band 25.

  2. I do hope so. Since Sprint isn't going to be in this auction, the more T-Mobile gets of it, the better it is for T-Mobile, and possibly even for Sprint, if they ever do merge together.

Sprint has potential to be great the Orlando, Florida market is an example of how Sprints network should be. Hopefully NGN will make every market like the Orlando, Fl market.

  3. I hope you are right about them getting at least 10x10 in 600mhz spectrum, which perhaps they will get for the markets which already have 5x5mhz in 700mhz spectrum.

However, there still are some major markets without any low band spectrum where T-Mobile will need more than just 10x10. Plus, without any real competition in the reserve spectrum since Sprint isn't participating in the auction, T-Mobile could get 15x15 of it in those areas.

Yet, T-Mobile said they will have up to $10 billion to spend on this auction, with a possible extra (up to) $5 billion from DT. That is alot of money to spend where T-Mobile really needs it. If they decide to get 15x15 of the 600mhz spectrum, at least in all of the major markets, T-Mobile will be set.

If T-Mobile can get a nationwide 10x10 or at least in the top 100 cities. Sprint executes the NGN project correctly. T-Mobile and Sprint will put alot of pressure on the big two.

  4. Despite my gripes with John Legere, I'm very supportive of T-Mobile getting as much of the 600mhz spectrum as possible, considering Sprint isn't going to participate in this auction.

So, this is very good news! Hopefully now T-Mobile will be able to get 15x15 of the 600mhz spectrum.

I can see T-Mobile getting 10x10. Nothing more nothing less.

  5. Eventually it would be a good idea but for now if Sprint did that, there would not be much incentive of being with Sprint over Verizon or At&t. The Sprint network is just not there yet.

That's true but some people feel like the network isn't their to start de-prioritizing either. I'm not affected by the change I rarely use 5gb. It's good that Sprint is starting this before NGN take off and users have a faster more consistent network to abuse. I just don't like seeing the 100gb+ usage screenshots. I feel like anyone that uses that much data on a smartphone doesn't have much of a personal life.

  6. Well, you can already do this if you like, there are several carriers including sprint that offer tiered data.

I encourage you to switch if that is your preference.

I say that because carriers are offering unlimited data then tries to come up with ways to curve abuse. I've been on several forums where users are posting their 500gb+ usage and comparing them to others. I'm not switching I have unlimited for a reasonable price. My usage falls within reasonable usage range.

  7. I think it's better for Sprint to do this now. Instead of waiting until a year or two from now and have users racking up 500gb to 1tb in usage. I view other forums other than this one and see Verizon and T-Mobile unlimited users do it all the time. It's sickening to see users use that much data regardless if its on their devices or not. So, I think it's better for them to do it now and whoever wants to leave because of it can leave now.

Edit- I with AJ about unlimited data being removed and going strictly with a tiered data approach.

  8. Wow hard to believe. At&t and Verizon dominate speed there, big crowds or not. They probably didn't have a up to date At&t device with band 2,4,5,17,29 and CA support.

I know one of the people had an iPhone 6/6s. Those are pretty up to date devices.

  9. So they finally got the second carrier of band 25 at universal up eh? They needed that bad because b25 is literally useless there. I wonder how it is now?

The network was still bog down. I was able to make phone calls and text with no problem. Data was very slow. I was able to do Google searches and load websites. As far as video it was a no go. Luckily they had xfinity WiFi which was running at good speeds.

  10. http://www.rootmetrics.com/us/rsr/orlando-fl/2015/2H

Sprint's doing good in Orlando, technically tied with AT&T and beating them slightly overall and calling. One carrier is steadily declining and offers the worst overall, calling, and texting experience.

I was in Orlando on Sunday and Monday. Sprints network there is the best Sprint experience I've had. The areas I was in was blanketed with band 41. At Universal studios SCP showed 2 carriers of band 25 and 2 carriers of band 41.

  11. I'm sorry I completely glossed over that comment. I must agree with tybo31316, as flashing stock images on Nexus devices is much easier and better than HTC. I remember having the original EVO and EVO 3D and how horribly annoying it was with those devices. Either way, 6.0 has been running great. Hope you get it soon.

6.0 is super smooth. I'm liking the animations. Seems like battery life and the new radio has improved too.

  12. I said it a few comments up. I prefer to not to flash ROMs or updates for fear that I'll get stuck in a boot loop or brick my device.

That's understandable I know you come from a long list of HTC devices like myself. It's painful dealing with soft bricks and boot loops. With Nexus devices its extremely difficult to brick your device. I usually flash stock rooted roms and delete all the unnecessary gapps that I don't use.

  13. Yes. And the T-Mobile device lacks Band 12 FWIW, which is a sticking point for Legere and Co....

That's true. Sprints biggest downfall in the rootmetrics testing is either network speed. When Sprint gets NGN rolling and get multi carrier band 41 activated Sprint should at least move up to second place overall.

  14. Interesting that Sprint so far in 2H seems to be losing some momentum on RootMetrics. I thought CA being activated would be improved some scores, but the last three markets posted have all been worse scores than in the 1H. Maybe it's because of the 6 month period of ordering/planning for NGN?

    Charolette, NC,

    1H - 93.5

    2H - 89.9

    Pittsburgh, PA,

    1H - 96.6

    2H - 91.2

    Seattle, WA,

    1H - 95.4

    2H - 95.2 (not that big of a drop.)

EDIT: The good thing is it must be from Sprint adding customers in these locations. Perhaps Sprint's Q3 numbers will look really good.

It could be the devices that they are using.

    Phones used during testing: AT&T - Galaxy S5 , Sprint - Galaxy Note Edge , T-Mobile - Galaxy Note 4 , Verizon - Galaxy S5

Does the note edge have CA?

  15. Slightly off topic, I know. But I noticed I can get an unlimited data phone plan o Verizon through my employer. After some research, I discovered they throttle after 5 GB. I thought they weren't allowed to throttle plans because of their 700mhz FCC requirements?

I have a similar plan on my AT&T work iPad. I don't know how much they throttle because I use it for work purposes only. Nothing that requires alot of data. Also it's only 2gb instead of 5gb.

  16. With what Verizon charges for service, this is very bad business. Considering their rate hike on the unlimited plan, they really have no good excuse not to fix these issues, especially if these issues have anything to do with unlimited data usage.

When all the national reports have tested and showed that they have the most reliable network on the US. They can charge what ever they want especially if people continue to use them. Unlimited data users are probably taking a toll on the network as well.

  17. Well I'm out in Orlando at Halloween Horror Night and according to signal check pro. There's two carriers for band 25 and two carriers for band 41. The network is a little bog down with the crowds up I can still load webpages, Google searches and Tapatalk. I was looking at some people's AT&T device in front of me their phones couldn't connect to AT&Ts data network.

  18. Yes. It's an exact copy of the phone. Down to the messages and photos and songs and safari cache.

Make sure to update it. Then restore her new phone to the update. Voila

Thanks a billion. She loves her new device. I got her the rose gold color. She was freaking out when I couldn't restore her data.

  19. Assuming both are on the same iOS, yes. Update her phone, if not yet already do e. Backup. Restore to new phone

When I back up the old device will it back all the messages, contacts, emails, etc. I'm not very Apple tech savvy.

  20. Personally I think the iPhone 5s is the best looking phone Apple has made. I'm not a huge fan of the iPhone 6 design with the antenna lines and the slippery back. The nice thing is Apple will replace your current iPhone 5s for just $269 (https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/repair/other/). I just did this with my 2 year old iPhone 5s and now I have a shiny new phone with a new battery.

Yes the iPhone5s is the best looking device Apple has made. Especially the gold one. If Apple had made the 6 models look like the 5s but in a larger size I would probably own an Apple device right now.
