  1. No one needs 4k on their phone. If they do like Robert said pay for your share. As far as capped data I don't agree with overages. I feel you should be slowed to 1mbps. If you need more high speed data you should upgrade to a higher GB tier for more $$$.

  2. When I had Sprint, much of my time outdoors was on 2.5 and getting around 40mbps, then around 15mbps - 20mbps in Schaumburg, compared with T-Mobile's pathetic 1 Mbps range there.

Personally, I'd like to be able to block 1900, to use only 800 and 2500 when I get back on Sprint two days from now, thankfully getting rid of this hideous T-Mobile service.

I wouldn't want to block any LTE bands but........ I would like to block PCS 1x and have 1x 800 only. Therefore I would have no dropped calls when entering buildings.

Sweet, but I'll wait before upgrading. I'm sure google is going to screw the initial release up and send out 5 more updates to fix it.

Edit- factory image on google sites says T-Mobile only for some reason.

    5.1.1 (For T-Mobile Only) (LYZ28E)

I'm sure it will work on other carriers.

  4. I've read into the Artemis ideas, and I think it sounds great, and am hoping it works out really well, especially as it sounds like an excellent relief solution to network congestion.

After all, it is what I had in mind to work well with my rate plan ideas, as I'm hoping the technology will help either to drive down the per GB data rate, or possibly to give carriers a reason to keep unlimited data around. Perhaps even with the added benefit of having unlimited tethering.

I don't see unlimited tethering happening at all on any carrier. Unlimited device data is hanging on by a thread. Only Sprint and T-Mobile is offering it. The big 2 is having a hard time keep up with the demand even with the majority of their users on shared data plans.

  5. First off merging T-Mobile and Sprint will not increase either company's coverage. Also both companies are making subscriber gains without a merger and less of a foot print of the big two. At this moment any merger would send both companies in a downward spiral as far as network investment. Iirc when AT&T attempted to buy T-Mobile they (T-Mobile) halted their network plans in hopes that AT&T could get the merger approved. I feel that 4 national carriers is best for competition and the consumers. 3 national carriers would just all raise prices within 5 bucks of one another and take advantage of our pockets.

Edit- I didn't mention the amount of debt the two would have and the fact that the combined company would have over 100,000 cell sites. Also decommissioning overlapping sites. Brand new gear that the companies spent tens of millions on.

  6. Yeah, I don't understand why Sprint always choosing to lease different sites than the competition and always mounted lower. It's gotta be cheaper to do it lower, but it's at the cost of a few dBm for customers, and with lower amount of sites than the competition, it can be very bad. We'll see how Sprint does their B41 deployment when it goes widespread.

I'm also waiting to see how aggressive Sprint is with band 41. Right now I haven't noticed very many Sprint band 41 sites. 99% of band 41 sites I connect to is Legacy clearwire.

  7. I don't like how Verizon does business but I took a long drive into boondock territory yesterday and while Sprint was 3g and faint signals of band 26. Verizon was band 13 all the way and even lots of band 4 in the middle of nowhere it was a massacre. Verizon had speed, capacity, coverage and reliability while Sprint did not. Tmobile was on edge or no service though so there's that at least Sprint had a minimum of 1x800.

I wonder how their signal is so strong and all their RRUs that I have seen is ground mounted. I also wonder if Sprint is running their band 26 at a lower power setting.

  8. Has anyone been noticing over the past couple days. That their phone is sitting on band 25 more as opposed to band 26. My phone use to sit on band 26 all the time. Now I find it on band 25 more and dropping to band 26 when I can't get band 25 signal. I know this is the way its supposed to work but I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

  9. I don't have a way to check this, but my understanding is that all Sprint branded Android LTE phones display both 1x and EVDO as "3G", and iPhones don't.

And my memory is hazy on this, but I think Nexus devices don't, BlackBerry's don't, and Windows Phones do, but my memory is very hazy -- I'm not 100% sure of this.

(edit: I forgot that I changed this manually on my Nexus, I think Nexus devices *do* show 1x as "3G" by default)

The Nexus 6 shows 1x as 3G too. When I had the Nexus 5 it showed as 1x. I'm sure its changed with all the updates.

  10. My brother has At&t and we're at his football game today at Nocatee community park. His At&t signal is -112dBm on B17 but he has no data whatsoever. (It's too slow.) Sprint is pulling 25mbps down here on both B25 and B26. Sprint's awesome here.

Just wanted to share my experience. Did a Sensorly mapping and At&t never dropped 4G, and Sprint did on the drive over, though. At the destination (mainly where it matters), Sprint is better.

I went out to Huguenot Park (Beach) my LTE signal was rock solid. Never dropped down to 3G on the ride there. Sprint has really improved the Jacksonville market. I feel Sprint can go toe to toe with any carrier in this market. The speeds may not be super high but its reliable and performs all tasks that I need daily.

  11. Follow up: marcelo said "the reason why sprint users cancel isn't because they can't get 30mbps but because their internet does not work at all" during not this recent quarter's earnings call but I think last one's.

So their reliability score on Root metrics is correct for my market. My Sprint line is as reliable as any other carrier in my market. So Sprint using root metrics as a source and not sprint themselves will get potential customers to give sprint a second look.

  12. Finally!

Though it's weird they're boasting; sprint is last overall and last in download and upload speed.

The network definitely looks good there but if someone goes to rootmetrics site they'll see sprint is last.

There was a 3 way tie for reliability which what matters to me most. They were last in speed but for me personally Sprint has enough speed to do everything I need to do on my phone. I think their advertising is a step in the right direction. Seems like nowadays all people care about is speed. What good is speed when you can't connect to the LTE signal inside of buildings and you get all of your speed outdoors.

  13. Seems like Sprint is getting more aggressive with the advertising. I don't know if this is new but I was listening to the radio. The sprint ad was boasting about their rootmetrics score in my market. It even gave a link to the Sprint site that was dedicated to my market. Has anyone else have this ad on a station in their city?

  14. I just went to read that, and I'm a little confused.

What is the difference between bolt on and full build?

I'm asking here as I don't really want to join T4GRU, since I won't be posting there.

It means that T-Mobile will be adding LTE 700 to their LTE 1900 GMO/Rural builds. In which many speculated that T-Mobile wouldn't do.
