  1. Looks like Sprint still has a pretty bad image problem. http://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2017/01/10/americas-most-hated-companies-sprint.html

Yes they do. Most people I tell that I use Sprint usually gives me a weird look and says Sprint suck. Even though Sprint has improved tremendously over the years most people still don't want to give them a chance.

  2. Yeah they are. Sprint only has a hotspot at this point where they are good but move out of it and the data speeds get really bad. I hope at least a few make it here this year. Even 5 towers combined with HPUE devices will make for a good experience. I'll tell you every site I pass in Orlando that is 8t8r is active with 3xCA and alot has 10×10 b25 also. Whatever happened with that Jacksonville spectrum swap?

Seems like nothing's going on from an install perspective. Sprint is activating their second carriers on Sprint and Clearwire Band 41 sites slowly.

  3. Very intrigued about Tmobile cutting taxes and fees, or bundling them in the plan prices.

While this may just be my experience, ending taxes and surcharges and bs crap fees is going to leave Sprint as the most offensive "extra crap on top of the price" carrier. The taxes and surcharges continue to play a role every time I consider bringing lines back to sprint. I have never comprehended how 3 carriers I've had (sprint, att, verizon) can have such different % of taxes of surcharges on top of the price for the same billing address.

This is what I've always liked about MetroPCS pricing.

  4. After all these years I feel like I was a sip the look-aid for 6 months. If carry out with it I'll open a extra line on sprint and go on standby and port my number and my iPhone 7 to them so see why they have 70mil customers.

T-Mobile's coverage is definitely better in my market. My daughter broke her phone so I put her SIM in my Nexus 6. It was much faster and I held on the LTE in many more places than I would have with Sprint. This was before band 12 was online. Now that band 12 is online those places that T-Mobile had no service now has LTE. Looks as if TMobile is only using it for coverage only. The devices mostly sit on band 4 or band 2.

  5. Y'all being greedy asking for your tower to be spruced up. Still lots of areas with very poor tower spacing

Not our towers. More band 41 market wide. I can assure you that in my city. Sprint is dead last in coverage and speed. I'm sure my city isn't the only city in America that's experiencing this. Sprint needs to focus on the markets it serves currently. Make sure they are all upgraded before they could even thing about expanding coverage into new markets.

  6. Because it's slow news day.

But this is why I am very optimistic with Sprint, with or without the merger. They have all the tools at their disposal (spectrum, increase cash flow, favorable regulatory environment for network build out), they just need to execute.

“Sprint management also expects to out-execute T-Mobile over the next two years, making a deal more attractive for them over time, but not in 2017.”

I do not believe the merger will happen between Sprint and Tmo. The feature is with a wireline and wireless. The synergy is tremendous when these organizations combine. T and VZ is already moving in that directions. T is much more aggressive.

The merger between wireless and wireline is more of what I'm thinking also. Dish and some of the cable cos are the only ones without a wireless division. Verizon and ATT already have both and are focusing on providing their video services.
  7. How is it unrealistic that competitors of Sprint and T-Mobile would be nervous of the merger and wanting to prevent it? Surely a Sprint/T-Mobile merger would be very bad for AT&T and Verizon's wireless business. The best way to prevent such a merger, is to make a counter offer. As I mentioned though, I doubt Verizon will, since they are too arrogant and eventually will find out how either a Sprint/T-Mobile merger or an AT&T/T-Mobile merger is bad for them, and very likely either will try to get Dish, or possibly end up in a deal with Comcaast, which depending how merger friendly Trump's Republican FCC is, might be able to nab Dish themselves. After all, it was in Obama's Democratic Administration that AT&T successfully got the FCC to approve their merger with Directv.

I understand many people here on S4GRU as consumers do not like mergers and worry about its effect on consumer protections. I empathize, especially as I'm a consumer too. However, it is ignorant to think that these corporations are not going to try to merge as much as they can get away with, and equally as ignorant to think the government, especially a Republican administrated government, won't likely approve these mergers. If these corprations try, they will succeed, very little to doubt about it now, regardless of whether its good or not for consumers. Undoubtedly though, these corporations will do a damn good job convincing the FCC that these mergers are great for everyone.

The only thing really in the way of these corporations are themselves, as they battle to see which ones get the merger approvals necessary prior to taking it to the FCC.

I don't think that Trump will allow a merger or buyout between Sprint and T-Mobile because of the job loss involved. A big part of Trump's campaign was job creation. I can see a merger or buyout from a company that's not in the US wireless market currently. Like Dish, Comcast or some investment group. Buying either Sprint or T-Mobile. I see T-Mobile being bought out first but I don't think neither of the two will be bought or sold.

  8. I like your thought process here. Prices will go up, but at the same time network will get tremendously better within the 1st 12 to 24 months . Do you think unlimited will stick around ?

Unlimited would stick around but with the limits on video, games, and music like the T-Mobile One and the new Sprint plans.
  9. Marcelo Claure and other important executives. If so, I can't imagine them being satisfied with their service. Or do executives of mobile carriers have exclusive VIP roaming agreements with other carriers?

They should use it. Not only is it free. They can use the same exact service their customers use. Hopefully they try to solve the coverage and capacity problems. I'm sure near the headquarters and probably all around the headquarters city service is probably great.
