  1. Considering the unique nature of Dish's spectrum, I'm figuring current handsets won't be able to take advantage of this spectrum, correct? If they do, then the matter is much more simple and Dish is open to any merger possibility, where I'm led to believe will be between either T-Mobile or Verizon.

However, if new radios are needed to accommodate this spectrum, then this seriously impacts the likelihood T-Mobile would get Dish, as I can't believe smartphone manufacturers all would accommodate T-Mobile's particular spectrum for a few reasons. This isn't like band 41 that is widely used elsewhere from my knowledge, it isn't as crucial to a company's success as band 41 is to Sprint, being that it is Sprint's largest spectrum asset, and also because while T-Mobile is growing, it still doesn't have the size and scope of a carrier such as AT&T and Verizon.

So, if new handsets are needed, I believe Dish would more likely sell to Verizon, instead of T-Mobile, in order to get smartphone manufacturers to include this spectrum on their radios.

Getting radios added to phones and devices isn't an issue. The bands are already certified by the 3GPP. Tmobile would have to install new gear and customers have to get new phones. In which the same thing happens now OEMs make devices to accommodate Sprint's 1x800. Most people are switching phones almost yearly when the new iPhones or Galaxies come out anyways. So the issues you think it's going to cause is almost non existent.
  2. Band 66 = 2180-2200 DL

    Band 70 = 1695-1710 / 1995-2020. This is deployable in 5, 10, 15MHz chunks.

    Band 29 = 700E

Then they just CA all that. 15x15 B70 would be the main carrier, then just CA 10MHz B70 + 20MHz B66 + 5MHz B29 on the DL side.

Not accounting the sporadic AWS3 they have. They could do all kinds of CA mixes based on a markets need.

If TMobile can get their hands on this spectrum all three national carrier's will be in a world of trouble.
  3. Unfortunately Sprint discontinued RingPlus support so I'm not able to monitor network upgrades on the field at the moment but I am still keeping a close eye on the permits. It looks like once the permit shows up, the upgrade usually takes place within 1 month after the permit is posted/approved.

We will see. Their speeds are the only part of the network that needs to be addressed in Jax.

There also need to be some fill in sites. There's places around town where I drop to 3G outdoors. I haven't seen that happen on my AT&T or T-Mobile lines.
  4. I have seen a few permits for St Johns cty for a Sprint 2.5 lately. About the same rate as T-Mobiles B12 permits.

Looks like Sprint has been installing band 41 to a couple sites lately. I saw a few sites that I know for sure is 8t8r. Theres a few more I saw from a distance. When I'm in the area again I'll get closer to see. Hopefully Sprint gets more 2.5 rolled out. There's a major dropoff in speeds going from band 41 to band 25 or 26.
  5. key word is "MAJORITY" if Sprint did this it would be alot better.

True. If Sprint band 41 8t8r on majority of their sites. Sprint come be compared to the other 3 carrier's. 1H of 2016 Verizon and T-Mobile were tied in this market. Then 2H 2016 Verizon move out front. The only reason I'm with Sprint is 1 my wife don't want to leave. 2 it's good for the price because we are framily lol. 3 I can always rely on Sprint for voice calls.
  6. How's Verizon in Jax?

Last time I had them in 2011 they had great service. I'm sure it's light years ahead of Sprint by now. I switched for like 3 days because I didn't get service inside some of the buildings I was in at work. Verizon didn't work there either. So I switched back to Sprint. I'm no longer in that area but I'm sure Verizon is better.
  7. In a year or two you could switch carriers though so its not all bad.

My 2 kids have T-Mobile lines on their grandmother's plan. T-Mobile service here in Jacksonville from what I've experienced using my kids phones has been more reliable and faster than Sprint's. Also T-Mobile has been installing band 12 Nokia RAS gear like crazy here. Everyday I'm seeing at least 2 sites a day being worked on. The only issue is that the tower that serves my home isn't upgraded so T-Mobile devices doesnt get good reception in my house but I have a wifi cell spot so that helps.
  8. Notice full signal at the top. They have heavy underestimated Ocala as a market and definitely is oversold here. Maybe a 10x10 b25 will appear soon.

My thing is that I keep holding on thing that one day Sprint is going to go full speed with band 41 installs. When in fact I don't think that's ever going to happen. I want to go to VZW Unlimited but afraid that after a year or two they start jacking the prices up and ringing users off like they did with the old unlimited plans. I'm actually trying to convince my wife into switching to T-Mobile. I'm just tired of waiting on Sprint to get it together.

  9. Sprint is still bad in Ocala. Great coverage but no capacity what so ever on most towers. The only band 41 tower in the whole county with 3xCA being brought to its knees. If the galaxy S8 was out I would be gone. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170215/f291a79557f167211b8defae031ee861.jpg

Wow. That's terrible. I see why you want to leave.
  10. Well, if T-Mobile doesn't want to take chances at Sprint or AT&T getting them, then getting Dish would be a great deal. Actually, I think they should get Dish, if other than pay tv, it also would give T-Mobile quite a bit more spectrum, and stopping its competitors from getting it, particularly Verizon. That would leave Sprint with far less options than to do what it should be doing, which is deploy its band 41 spectrum much more than it is currently. Otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised if Sprint goes to Verizon or is split between Verizon and AT&T.

That would only make Sprint get purchased by Comcast at point. Not bought by AT&T or VZW.
  11. I doubt it since Comcast only covers (I believe) 35% of the US. I have Comcast at home and do not have a fiber connection. It is really obvious when internet download speeds are under 5 megs during peak times.

The problem I have with Comcast isn't the actual service it's self. It's their customer service and all their BS fees that's piled on top of the base package. Other than that they are great. With all of this back and forth about switching carrier's since VZW launched their new unlimited plan. I'm staying put with Sprint. VZW will lure all these new customers in similar to how Comcast does. Then slowly start increasing prices. No thanks.

  12. Just noticed something unusual...looks like at least some of the sites may be getting Ericsson B41 equipment (RRUS 82) in lieu of the standard Nokia equipment. Is this just a typo on the building permit summary (attached), or is Ericsson gear actually being deployed?

Link to FCC RRUS 82 B41 testing documentation:

Maybe this is what I've been seeing lately. Sprint has been installing new panels around town.
