I know Sprint and T-Mobile swapped spectrum a while back so that both Sprint and T-Mobile can do 20x20 in the PCS band in Jacksonville and some other places. I don't know about any other swaps.

Just got a status update on Ocala. I talked with a network team member and got stats on most towers in the market. Ocala has 8 towers scheduled for 2.5 this year but 6 of them are behind schedule (no surprise there) 3 of them was scheduled for 2.5 in February. 2 this month and 3 last month. None have started though. Also I found out that Jacksonville only have 2.5 on 30% of towers and Orlando has it on 62% of towers. So yeah Jacksonville is very far behind. Oh and Tampa is 56% 2.5.

A few months ago. Sprint came in add 2.5 to some of the high traffic sites here in Jax.

Hey all, got a carrier settings update to Sprint 28.4 today. Would recommend that all iPhone users head to Settings>General>About and hover there until it asks you to update your carrier settings. I've heard this update contains some exciting stuff...
Done. What should we be looking out for?
-
Have any proof of this? If not, your statement is out of place.
It was just a little joke with all the speculation behind why the T-Mobile and sprint executives were going to Japan and the Far East.

Gunther and John Saw are doing a Massive MIMO test in Tokyo with the SoftBank team: 8x Capacity!

Excited for this to come to the USA.
Meanwhile John Legere, Marcelo and Son is discussing a possible merger.

This is from a fairly new 8t8r. I wonder if this is a third carrier.

BlackBerry just needs to give up at this point, same goes for HTC lol.

I'll pour out a little liquor for HTC lol. They were actually good in recent years and lost focus.

Maybe John Legere met up with Charlie Ergen in Denver. Now traveling to Germany to meet with the DT CEO.

Really there's no need to attack each other. The customers they want are from the big 2. That's where Sprint and T-Mobile will get their customer adds.I'm still very skeptical/doubtful on a Sprint/T-Mobile merger, though one thing I've found interesting lately is the lack of attacks between the two companies recently, no back and forth Twitter matches between Claure and Legere either.

B25 CA working out the box on the S8+

If I'm reading the engineering correctly. You have 2 band 25 5x5mhz channels connected?
-
What's involved in increasing it? Contacting the backhaul provider to up the capacity on the existing fiber?
I imagine so. Sprint probably bumped up the bandwidth and maybe the speed increase on the backhaul is a little delayed.
-
Speed. It was getting less than 1 mbps
Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
Probably overloaded or the backhaul hasn't been increased.

I'm In Orlando Florida. Why is this so slow?

Slow to rollout or Speeds?

Member from Minnesota is in Jacksonville right now, reporting 10x10 B25 on some sites in the city.
Hmm.... sucks that my iPhone 7 plus won't display bandwidths.

Jax and Tampa rootmetrics dropped. Sprint did just as good as the other carriers expect the speed department. This has been the case the last 3 years. http://rootmetrics.com/en-US/rootscore/map/metro/tampa-fl/2017/1H http://rootmetrics.com/en-US/rootscore/map/metro/jacksonville-fl/2017/1H

It's the band 25 and 26 sites that's killing their speed category. When on band 41 sprint is just as fast or faster than the other 3 carriers. Going from band 41 to band 25/26 the speeds drop tremendously.

I see. I'll definitely be checking that area whenever I'm there.
Hopefully Sprint add more band 41 sites. I don't think that they are unless a site starts to get overburdened with traffic. Between all the legacy Clearwire sites and 8t8r's I think Sprint pretty much has a lot of the high data traffic areas covered. Except River City Marketplace and the St Johns Town Center from my experience.
-
It was a random field test that I ran and I definitely was not expecting to see B41. Everything happened so fast. I didn't get a chance to run a speed test.
I know how that is. I knew the site was there so every time I was in the area I was wanting to see if it was live.
-
Oh wow...
I pulled down 73mbps from that site also.
-
UARFCN is 41176 from the screenshot of my field test.
I got that same UARFCN from a Band 41 install near Edward Waters College on Kings Rd.
-
Looking at the dollar amounts. Looks like Dish bought a significant amount of 600 spectrum also.
-
What ever move Sprint makes from here on out will determine if they really want to compete. Or if they just want to be bought out.

At the end of the day, its just more stop gap spectrum. If this takes 2 to 3 years to deploy, no one will care.
But T-Mobile will hype it up. To keep people talking about it.
-
They're actively taking PCS (1900) spectrum from HSPA and refarming it into LTE. Good for additional bandwidth. Jacksonville FL has 20x20 B4, 10x10 B2, and 5x5 B12 on LTE and can all be aggregated.
Not to mention they have more band 2 being occupied by HSPA+.

Why do folks on this forum and on others automatically assume that if Sprint and T-Mobile merge John Legere will accept the role of CEO of the newly formed T-Mobile?
My personal opinion is that Legere is put into the CEO role of T-Mobile currently. So that T-Mobile could form some type of merger. Upon completing a T-Mobile - Sprint merger Legere cashes out and ride off into the sunset richer than he was when he came in.
