If you don't mind a little effort it is not hard to find the information at all. Everything you need is in the XDA Forums at http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2 Look in the development section. The topics of interest are; - IOroot to get the drivers you need installed and then a script that handles the rooting process for you. - Autorec to put an app on your phone that will install TWRP recovery which gets you able to back, restore your ROM and flash custom ROM. You mentioned flashing PRL. No root required. You need your MSL code. Also this information is on the forum. If you search LG g2 flash prl you should find it. After flashing Samsung for 2 years I understand where you're coming from. This is the tried and true methods you need.

It's a lack of capable sites and distance between. I zipped through this morning looking for NV2.5 work and was surprised that two of the sites are still GMO. As the NV2.0 work moves forward and clear sites get LTE it will improve. If you have a tri-band phone such as S4 Mini, G2 or N5, you may be able to pick up clear LTE once the sites are turned on.

Whitehall unfortunately is a rough spot. So many trees and a limit on LTE sites. B41 will help there some.

You could try going to settings>apps slide over to all tab, find google play services select it and clear cache. See if that helps. Sometimes the play app itself has to update. Also rebooting the phone once seems to restart services correctly.

It has been mentioned in chat when Dave spoke to a contractor that the sites that became GMO's are being reworked. Many of those sites had other problems that couldn't be dealt with in a timely manner such as electricians for power towers or towers that failed the engineering assessments for additional equipment.

Why not turn LTE off in the short term? My experience when having spotty LTE connections was way better on 3G with upgraded sites than waiting on LTE to connect and disconnect. Probably not the answer you're looking for but a good option.

I spied this little gem on the Hyatt Regency at Nationwide this morning. Zoomed in below: Resembles a Sprint NV configuration. The RRH's look different though. I haven't seen any other carrier in town with two RRHs per antenna though.

I'm pretty certain GMOs do not get LTE. The determining factor is does the antenna at the top support the bandwidth needed and the frequencies? If they do then the RRHs wouldn't be ground mounted. So no. Not to mention 8T8R requires specific antennas.

That site has another carrier on it plus clear wire. The clear site has the B41 on it. Your voice and EVDO data comes from another site, I would guess east of you or south of you. I can't divulge the site locations in this forum but they are on the maps and such in the sponsor forum. I strongly suggest making a donation if you can. The information is comprehensive. Since you have a G2, if you upgrade to premier, you will get access to the B41 information and maps. There's a lot of cool upgrades still in progress for faster data. That's all I can say about that. As for your phone, what you are experiencing is eCSFB. It has been discussed in the general topics of the forum in detail. Basically, while you have a triband phone, it has one radio. While you're connected to 4G, the radio has no way to know there is a voice call coming in because it's not tuned to 1X but 4G. eCSFB is a software patch on 3G/4G sites that tells the phone connected to 4G to switch back to 1X for a voice call. If you're connected to a site that does not have 1X, the site doesn't have the software patch and your phone is clueless. This brings up two modes of the G2: Voice Centric (VC) and Data Centric (DC). That allows you to tell the phone what is the priority, voice or data. If you are in VC mode, then your phone will only connect to completed 3G/4G sites not B41 sites. If your phone is in DC, your phone will get data wherever possible and not care to miss calls. That describes what you are seeing. Until Sprint upgrades all the clear sites to network vision, this will be that way.

So I was bored. My boredom could turn into gain. What I'm going to describe may tick some peeps off but in the end open up maybe a way to get back the voice/data centric options and LTE band priority selection. I performed the permanent SIM unlock as described on another site. I was successful in unlocking my phone not only for international GSM service but also domestic GSM service. I have an active AT&T prepay SIM and can use the Sprint LS980 phone on AT&T in the states all day long, make and receive phone calls on that number, send texts and even have HSPA+ data. The reason I did this is irrelevant. However, in while performing this hack, it requires editing a build.prop string. I went as far to do the hack on a custom ROM which I lost the ability of using 5689#*980# to access the IOT menu that was crippled in the ZVC update. Guess what, when a certain build.prop entry is changed which tells the handset what carrier it identifies with, the items in the IOT menu change. In custom ROM's the IOT menu is accessed with 277634#*#. With the build.prop identified as OPEN instead of SPR (sprint), a lot of options presented including the ability to select LTE bands. So I learned that the items that show in the IOT menu are somehow enabled based on the RO.TARGET.OPERATOR string. In the case of being set to OPEN, I could select band 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17, 20 or 40. No band 25, 26 or 41 but I have inclination that if the right conditions were set that those bands would present. I'm posting this on XDA as well. Anyone that's in to the inner workings of Android, want to take a crack at getting access to the old IOT settings from within the ZVC/KK ROMs?

The Sprint SIM is used for LTE authentication only. The data on the SIM is assigned onto your account. The SIM card does not affect Sprint CDMA, your CDMA service is authenticated by your MEID. It is possible to operate a Sprint phone without the SIM, you will only receive CDMA authentication and service. Inserting the SIM of another carrier will allow you access to the GSM network if you are on foreign soil and Sprint has enabled your SIM port for international GSM mode. I've never tried another Sprint SIM in a Sprint phone to see what happens. I would assume a non-provisioned SIM would not allow access to LTE while a provisioned SIM would allow LTE access. Say you and a buddy swapped Sprint SIM cards, you would still have LTE access albeit through your buddy's account authentication. There's no foreseeable operational difference. By deduction, it would seem as long as the phone had a MEID that could be activated on Sprint to authenticate CDMA services and as long as said phone had the radios for Sprint LTE bands that using your SIM would be possible. I'm not exactly sure you could activate a second Sprint SIM without adding an additional line to the account. I've played a lot with swapping SIM cards on a G2. Currently with some tweaking I am able to used another domestic carrier's SIM card and obtain voice/data service from said local domestic carrier. I say that to qualify my statements.

Tried out the Team D3rp Super G2 ROM preview. I have to say, great job.
