  1. That's a tricky question. Think that depends on how early in NV1.0 that site was built or converted. The site near my house was reworked May 2013 and they did not pull another snake up the pole. However a site in town was upgraded later and had to have additional cabling pulled.
  2. You mean it can get worse than sounding like Stephen Hawking?
  3. What part of Ohio are you in that there's not some LTE? Rural?
  4. All this hullabaloo over texting while driving. What about a radar gun that detects women putting on makeup while driving or men shaving while driving? How about drinking hot coffee while driving as you may spill boiling hot coffee on your crotch and lose control. You can't control any of it. It's a social problem Just like checking out hot girls in skimpy bikinis at the beach.
  5. Just going back two years ago when I had a BlackBerry and got my S3. Voice quality was great back then. I called my wife the other day and she sounded like Stephen Hawking.
  6. Determined the small cells we've seen are Verizon. Detected 700 MHz C block active.
  7. Site update, the Pickerington site on Longview Street is no longer on the water tower but literally on a new tower ON Longview St.
  8. Clear band 41 is the reutilization of Clearwire sites to provide band 41 coverage. These Clear sites have an advantage in being in places that Sprint towers are not. This makes LTE fill in possible with triband phones. Actually it works really well. Sprint band 41 is the new 8t8r technology that Sprint is deploying on existing NV sites. The existence of both B41 cells in cooperation with B25 and B26 will be what is known as Spark. This being the triband technology the hamster speaks of. In the future will be carrier aggregation. This will be where a single phone could utilize multiple band LTE services from multiple sites simultaneously to provide very high speed data. Sprint is doing some kick butt stuff. They have a lot of work to do before it gets there. We've seen a lot of work done in the field. We've seen a lot of permits. I think that's about all I can say about it.
  9. COW update for those not in chat. I drove by the site Friday and reaffirmed what I saw the week before, that the large light pole was removed and replaced with 3 short light poles. The green fence area was the area that had the tall pole originally. This picture is blurry, I couldn't stop because of traffic. Below is a picture from the southwest part of the field. You can see the COW and the 3 light poles. Definitely not temporary lighting! Now as I continued north up Starr Avenue and drove past the Revol section and tower, the whole area was taped off with yellow caution tape, there was a company truck parked nearby and the name escapes me now. If you've been down that street you'll know there's room for one travel lane with cars parked on both sides of the street. I couldn't stop to take pictures because of traffic but it seems Sprint is moving over to the Revol space, in my opinion.
  10. The Columbus market covers a large portion of central, eastern, southern and southeastern Ohio. With the exception of Alltel roaming areas and any other roaming areas not coming to mind. Btw, no cow update today. Stuck at Polaris Mall.....
  11. 13 posts in our thread! Most since the COW! W00t!
  12. Ecsfb. The site you're getting LTE from needs the ecsfb update. A lot of sites that were recently updated to LTE need that.
  13. Lol. That's my Sprint G2 wiped so i can put my wife on it. I didnt want to sign in my google account and download all my apps to get a band 26 reading. You of all people got the nerve and the audacity to call me cheap?!?
  14. That is about the space I do tests from. I was suggesting you try the tower on Alspach Rd (official address is Cedar Hill Rd but the drive through the field to the tower is on Alspach). The north sector on that tower seems to bounce over the hills into this area real well. I live a finger width right of the tower by Kingy's (on your map) literally across the field next to Kingy's and when Basil Western was still legacy, I could pick up Alspach pretty well. They're using the north sector of Alspach to cover all of southern Canal Winchester to make up for sites that do not exist. Nextel used to be on the water tower on Gender Rd and they should have made that a Nextel conversion site and filled in a huge hole. From a capacity stand point, it is probably less busy than the one by Kingy's. As for band 41, without getting into trouble (me), if you know what the clear sites look like or where they are, you should be able to hit the closest one with ease and pull 45+ mbit. I could see Ed Schleppi's tower flashing from your road. I think his name was Ed, he's definitely a Schleppi. That's his last name, I can't answer whether he's a schlep or not, playing on old words.
  15. I'm 42 and use a cheap indoor antenna in place of exorbitant Time Warner. Works ok for me. I just don't recall either of those looking like a TV antenna. Seen plenty in my day. When I was a youngin and lived in Indianapolis, my dad put one in our attic and we could pick up WBNS from the east side of Indy. Big duh on the caption...
  16. Im just guessing on angles based on sunlight. Looks like an evening pic with the sun towards the back right. So the dish antenna must be the one pointed at basil western site. However I'm curious how kuch better you would be from that location to aim at the site to your south? I live 2 miles east of meijer and when the site to your south was fired up i could connect to it most of the time. The site by slate run park. Forgot the name of the road.
  17. Gave up on editing my other response. Sir you are the nerd king of all nerds on this board! Congrats on the external antenna. Kick ass!! The one reason I may keep my everything account and have just a mifi and cancel time warner. That thing is sexy. The dish is the LTE antenna? what's the other antenna used for? Just curious?
  18. I will pull 30+ from band 25 on that tower and a little faster on band 26. But I will do that sitting at Meijer. I wish they would have tuned that tower differently and I'll stop there. The speed test is only as good as the test server though. I use Ooooookla and either a site in Dayton or Waverly to test to. Dayton seems to perform better. To pick up band 26 is tricky. You have to essentially be in an area that band 25 is not receiving well. Like a dip or valley, or farther away from the site. For a short time one could pick it up easily. At my house, I'm so far off axis with the north antenna that neither works well. I expect the same from band 41 when it comes up. Well actually I had band 41 from it when they left it on accidentally. It performed worse than band 25.
  19. Not until they open the road past it. Reckon scp may pull it.
