  1. Maybe something the handoffs, but nothing for Band 41 or 26. Sprint already announced that future software updates will be required to enable "Sprint Spark" (tri-band) connections. The Nexus 5 is scheduled to receive its update in early 2014. -Mike
  2. Does anyone know if Sprint will give you a UICC card without the phone being present? Would love to get the ball rolling on that while I wait for mine to ship.. -Mike
  3. I just bit the bullet and ordered a 32GB black N5, shows the shipping date as 12/3 at the moment. Now I understand how my wife feels when she sees a pair of shoes and claims that she just HAS to have them... -Mike
  4. I really think that AJ actually nailed the issue in his post here -- the lack of SVLTE support is likely the reason for this. The CDMA radio is being turned off while connected to LTE, but when it is needed, it switches LTE off and CDMA back on. If the radio is off, SignalCheck and your app aren't wrong -- it's not connected to a 1X site. For what it's worth, afazel (thanks!) has been helping me out with some testing.. I can confirm that none of the built-in Android routines are returning any CDMA info while the Nexus 5 is connected to LTE. The old-school routines that SignalCheck uses and the newer Android API functions only report LTE data while connected to LTE on the Nexus 5. No CDMA information at all. -Mike
  5. Verizon's page on the G2 confirms that their model does support SVLTE. -Mike (EDIT: I completely misread your post somehow, you had already answered exactly what I originally asked.. I think you nailed it.)
  6. Haha.. I am in the same boat, no need for a new device right now, but I am trying to convince myself that it's for educational (development) purposes.. -Mike
  7. What if you try picking up the two you have on hold tomorrow.. see if you get the discounted upgrade price. I would imagine that if you've already paid for your online order, BB can't re-charge you off-contract price. Worst case scenario is the phones in-store ring up at the off-contract price, so you say no thanks. Who knows, you might end up with 4 phones at the discounted price! -Mike
  8. Hmm... does it always happen, or just occasionally? Are you on a stock ROM? Which version of Android? If you are on 4.4, maybe that is the common thread, not LG... -Mike
  9. Thanks, I saw that.. I started following the G2 and N5 threads just so I could keep tabs on what people were seeing in the app. At least everyone is seeing the same thing. I do not know how they could completely turn the radio off, but the data certainly seems to be hidden for some reason, not sure if it is intentional or not though. Would be interesting to see if the Verizon G2 has this behavior, since that would also be CDMA. -Mike
  10. Hmm.. thank you for the report. I was not aware that the N5 was hiding 1X while on LTE; someone said the G2 was doing it. I just went through the N5 users thread, apparently it is an issue. Can you (or anyone else) confirm that you have an actual live 1X connection when SignalCheck is showing nothing there? Is there any sort of engineering screen that shows apparent valid 1X data while you're connected to LTE? I am not trying to downplay or brush aside potential problems in the app, but with the G2 and N5 not "officially" launching until Friday, and a variety of issues plaguing early users of both devices, I'm leaning more towards some software glitches on these phones. That being said, I do have one idea, and I'm working on something for G2/N5 folks to test out, should be ready for testers by tomorrow afternoon. PM me your e-mail address and a quick note saying which device you have, and I will send it when ready. -Mike
  11. With z250kid's help, I confirmed that Sprint's S4 on 4.3 still does not utilize any of the LTE functions in the Android API. Very disappointing, especially since AT&T's model is doing it. -Mike
  12. Updates to both SignalCheck Pro and SignalCheck Lite have been released and should be available on Google Play within the hour! Version 4.17L never ended up being released for Lite users because this update was going to be coming out quickly. Version 4.171 is a fairly minor maintenance update: Removed recognition of Sprint LTE Band 41 connections due to inaccuracies. I thought Sprint was activating Band 41 sites in a certain distinct manner, but that proved to be wrong for now. As Sprint continues the rollout of 2500/2600 MHz sites, and tri-band devices gain in popularity, hopefully this can be restored. Resolved issue with missing LTE GCI and frequency information on HTC devices running Sense 5.5. HTC tweaked some things in their latest software.. huge thanks to mrrogers1 for helping me get this fixed! Resolved issue with BSL continuing to display after connection is lost. (Pro) In certain situations, you would see "No connection" for 1X, but a stale BSL would remain displayed. All fixed. As always, huge thanks to all of you for your support, and my beta testers for their reports. -Mike
  13. Who says that is testing? Google says it's only 3087 miles between Utah and Puerto Rico.. that's a piece of cake for 800 SMR to travel! -Mike
  14. Placing a pre-order should reserve one for you on launch day, either by store pickup or delivery. I agree that you shouldn't be receiving a delivery even a day after customers can grab them off the shelves, but receiving it on Day 1 should be the expectation. I never recall seeing Sprint, Best Buy, or anyone else promise pre-orders that they would receive the G2 (or any other device) early. -Mike
  15. What SIDs are you seeing? Each market is assigned a SID in the 22xxx range. Perhaps you are on the edge of a market, and hitting a site in the next market over? Or maybe connecting to sites that are still in testing, if you're running a custom PRL.. -Mike
  16. There are others on here who can speak to how 1X and EV-DO compare far better than I could, so I will let someone else answer that. Based on my own personal experience though, if they are both on the same band (i.e. PCS/1900), the stats appear to be similar. Ec/Io closer to zero is better, and this page I found indicates a 'good' Ec/Io is between -10 and -5 dB with the caveat that the other metrics need to be considered as well if you truly want to evaluate the signal quality. I do not think Ec/Io is useless, it appears to have a purpose. Just because an engineering screen does not explicitly display a certain value certainly does not mean it doesn't exist. It's a result of a math formula on the signals your phone is receiving. In any case, the reading on the EVO is wrong. Since every app and the engineering screen see the same thing, it's likely an issue with the low-level code that communicates with the radio. SignalCheck (and likely all the other apps you've tried) just spits out the reading the phone is reporting. -Mike
  17. I believe I read somewhere that Android identifies WCDMA connections as UMTS. I haven't seen any screenshots, but it would either show that or "Unknown" like it does for DC-HSPA. The app would display the same information that any GSM connection shows (RSSI, asu, BER, LAC, CID, Carrier, and MCC/MNC). Not sure if it is a limitation of the protocol or what, but Android does not make anything else accessible. -Mike
  18. APN does not stand for wireless access point. Thanks for the SignalCheck screenshot.. disappointed it doesn't automatically show the GCI or PCI like we hoped. -Mike
  19. Where are you seeing those EV-DO Ec/Io values.. in SignalCheck? Looks like they might be missing a decimal point (i.e. 3.1, 6.8, 12.8).. -Mike
  20. PayPal just got back to me (a phone call and an email.. surprisingly enthusiastic).. they claim that the recipient has the ability to modify the payment date after the automatic payment is created, but the sender does not. In any case, not a huge issue; users can just cancel and recreate the payment on their preferred day of the month. -Mike
  21. Open up SignalCheck and take a screenshot of THAT for us! The anticipation is killing digiblur and I.. -Mike
  22. I asked PayPal if there was any way to choose the day of the month in which the payment is made, but have not heard back yet. Robert, do you have any power to change which day a user makes a recurring payment on your end? I am guessing probably not, but who knows. This feature seems to be in its infancy on PayPal. -Mike
  23. Just reinstall the old version, it is linked earlier in this thread.. -Mike

    HTC EVO 4G LTE

Thanks for the kind words! I will look into it and see if there is anything I can come up with. HTC phones have been the easiest to work with so far, so maybe it is possible. Hey I didn't ask you, I asked the other guy! A shortcut to the Radio Info screen already exists in the app.. do you mean make it a shortcut from the widget? -Mike

    HTC EVO 4G LTE

That will probably prove to be difficult.. the Radio Info screen contains features that are not directly accessible by third-party developers. SignalCheck Pro provides access to the Radio Info screen through a menu option, but it does have a widget and I could add an option to open that screen directly from the widget if that would help. -Mike
