  1. ...if timing advance is limited to one time slot. AJ
  2. Infinity. To Alpha Centauri and beyond. AJ
  3. And that probably is quite recent. I was in Jefferson City once every two weeks this fall, and I did not note a band 25 second carrier. But it seems to be spreading like wildfire across both the Kansas and Missouri markets. AJ
  4. That is fine. If the carrier is of unusual bandwidth, it is newsworthy. We will sound the clarion call. However, a 5 MHz FDD band 25 second carrier does not require a rapid thread update any longer. AJ
  5. And I still give one, two, or all three Sprint compatible unlocked, third party handsets this fall about a 50/50 chance of supporting/not supporting LTE roaming. It may not happen -- because the handsets are not running Sprint approved and customized firmware. T-Mobile, for example, already has shown this tendency with VoLTE and band 12 issues. Maybe my memory is fuzzy, but I recall that the device specific LTE roaming coverage maps have been rolling out slowly. First, it was a CCA/RRPP capable LG handset or two -- though some CCA/RRPP capable Samsung and HTC handsets were excluded. Am I daft, or does anyone else remember the same? This seems to be a soft launch. Until Sprint publicly declares LTE roaming live, there may be more to come, more work to do. I just do not jump to conclusions or ask questions too soon. I try to stay even keeled and equitable -- even though I personally own two of the unlocked, third party handsets in question -- three if you also count the Nexus 5. We have to wait on further info. And if/when that info comes to the surface, it is highly unlikely to be restricted behind the sponsor paywall. S4GRU already has gone above and beyond the call of duty to write on The Wall as quickly as possible an LTE roaming article. Should any further developments arise, we probably will deem it in the public interest to update the article or write a follow up article. You need not ask questions. Have patience. AJ
  6. No, the coverage tool maps are not a reliable source at this point. Sprint has not officially announced anything on LTE roaming -- everything is still a work in progress. So, we have no further info. AJ
  7. How so? We have not seen any evidence to confirm nor deny LTE roaming on Nexus devices. AJ
  8. The top post will be updated only periodically now. Additional LTE carriers are no longer big news. AJ
  9. In its public reports, RootMetrics divulges some median values. However, that does not mean RootMetrics uses only median values in its statistical calculations To say that the methodology is "flawed" goes too far. We do not know that -- because we are not privy to all the details of the methodology. So, what we can say is that the combination of methodology, measured values, and results often can be enigmatic. AJ
  10. Mike, you should check out this post for its SignalCheck Pro screenshot of LTE roaming on USCC. From subsequent LTE engineering screenshots, it is band 12. So, you may have some starting info to get GCI to band detection working on USCC. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/975-network-visionlte-missouri-market-includes-st-louis/?p=462535 AJ
  11. Confirming the band may help mikejeep add USCC GCI to band detection. In this case, band 12 looks like it could be the primary carrier -- because of the low last two digits of the GCI. AJ
  12. You should update your profile to let us know that you now are using an LG G4. If you still were using an LG G3 and had LTE roaming on USCC, that would have been remarkable -- because it would have required band 26 MFBI or illegal band 5. Also, since SignalCheck Pro does not have USCC GCI to band detection, you should take a screenshot of your LTE engineering screen to check the band, either band 5 or band 12. AJ
  13. That is not a loaded question. This could be a relevant example of a loaded question: "Has Sprint stopped offering only handsets that suck in RF performance?" For it to be a loaded question, it must contain an assumed but likely unwarranted premise that the responder must accept in order to answer the question. AJ
  14. Unlocked, third party sold handsets that cost around $400. AJ
  15. I doubt that VoLTE would make much difference in the Call metrics. Sure, in some markets, it would bring band 12 into the mix. But in other markets without band 12, VoLTE would be on band 4. That would not be as robust as W-CDMA on band 2. The advantages and disadvantages likely would even out. AJ
  16. I think you miss my point -- sarcasm. But I will elaborate later. AJ
  17. They may not be on Netflix. But instead I can recommend these series... "Read a Book" "Go Outside" "Browse S4GRU" "Talk to Someone" "Play a Game" "Prepare Some Food" AJ
  18. Since RF performance is so unimportant to our S4GRU readership, I guess we will discontinue our FCC OET ERP/EIRP RF testing articles. AJ
  19. Always note the testing period. Even though BingeOn has been a thing for a month and the RootMetrics results are announced now, the testing took place before BingeOn. That could be good news or bad news for T-Mobile. If HD video streaming was hammering its downlink prior to BingeOn, then performance already could be improved with BingeOn. But if HD video streaming was not the major culprit and/or much more SD video streaming is happening under BingeOn, then T-Mobile is in a world of hurt. AJ
  20. This also reminds me of the quote, something to the effect of "The new iPhone looks just like the old iPhone. So, how will people know I've upgraded?" AJ
  21. Millenial constant need to check in and announce whereabouts on social media practically screams, "Rob my place while you know I am not at home." AJ
  22. How were you able to add a Chase credit/debit card? Chase is not one of the participating banks. That was a sticking point for me. AJ
  23. Check the timestamp of the second comment. It is only 12 minutes ago. Is somebody moderating…censoring...watching? AJ
