  1. I guess the Walmart sporting goods department hates Sprint LTE. AJ
  2. Dish's AWS-4 spectrum is 2000-2020 MHz x 2180-2200 MHz. So, even alone, Dish's bandwidth is sufficient for 20 MHz FDD LTE. AJ
  3. The 1700 MHz uplink and 2100 MHz downlink are not different bands. They are paired together to form one FDD band. A band is any defined set of spectrum. AJ
  4. Qualify you for the crown or just for the pageant? AJ
  5. "Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence." AJ
  6. I could be wrong, but I doubt that we will see carriers interconnecting raw AMR-WB between one another. No, those that want to implement HD Voice interconnection will likely use some form of transcoded, higher sample rate, compressed PCM. And nothing would prevent Sprint from doing likewise. AJ
  7. Do so at your own risk. If you do, you may be subject to arrest by the mattress tag police. AJ
  8. This is what I have been saying for roughly a year. Implementation of HD Voice (EVRC-NW) is not an airlink issue. It is an MSC and interconnection issue. AJ
  9. CDMA1X is 3G. Are you sure that your 3G connection is not CDMA1X? Also, you appear to be running a third party ROM. In order for this method to work, you may need to be on a stock ROM. AJ
  10. For anyone who is curious but not familiar with my title reference... And the song itself has an interesting backstory. AJ
  11. Ah, you meant the EVO LTE? That makes more sense because the One X does not come in a Sprint compatible CDMA2000 variant. Here is your solution: *#*#4636#*#* > Phone info > LTE, CDMA Let the baseband restart. And there you go, EV-DO is disabled. AJ
  12. Well, if wireless charging capability is integrated rather than part of an optional battery cover, then there is nothing that you can do about it. But I hope that does not become a trend, as RF performance seems to take a hit from inductive charging coils. AJ
  13. MetroPCS does not hold any spectrum in San Diego County. But T-Mobile brings 40 MHz of AWS spectrum (down from 50 MHz because of a swap with VZW) and 25 MHz of PCS spectrum to the table in San Diego. So, AWS will likely continue running W-CDMA in a DC-HSPA+ configuration and add LTE in 10 MHz FDD bandwidth. AJ
  14. The problem is that T-Mobile does not have even remotely sufficient W-CDMA coverage in the Southeast to match SouthernLINC's iDEN footprint. Not to mention, SouthernLINC has scant spectrum to deploy LTE 800. AJ
  15. Sounds like you have an article to write, so get cracking. AJ
  16. For CDMA2000, take Sprint's traditional PCS A-F block spectrum holdings and automatically subtract 2.5 MHz to account for guard bands. Thus, 20 MHz can net up to seven carriers. Eight carriers would require at least 22.5 MHz. Furthermore, if Sprint has two non contiguous PCS A-F block licenses (e.g. Chicago), then subtract 2.5 MHz for each license. In that case, 20 MHz can net up to six carriers. Then, as Robert has detailed, relatively few sites reach eight CDMA2000 carriers. Those sites that do tend to cover arenas, stadiums, and racetracks. AJ
  17. Is the wireless charging cover separate? If so, it is almost certainly harmful to RF performance. See the paragraph on wireless charging in my Galaxy S4 article: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-343-updated-a-short-time-from-now-in-a-galaxy-not-far-away/ AJ
  18. VZW has industry leading low churn rates. Like it or not, subs do not tend to leave VZW. So, Sprint could pull out all the stops, increase suburban/rural CAPEX beyond profitability, and still not capture many VZW subs. AJ
  19. At your request... You use the Note 2 in your pocket for appearance like some guys use a roll of quarters? AJ
  20. This sounds almost like a phone dating profile. Imagine the possibilities... "I am looking for a phone between 5" and 5.3." Not too light, but not too heavy. I like a few curves and a bright, smiling display. HTC Sense (of humor) and no baggage from a carrier relationship are both pluses." AJ
  21. I guess you could say that the One has the DNA in its DNA. AJ
  22. Work is already in progress on at least three sites around Lake of the Ozarks. Consider becoming a sponsor, and you can view the map of completed and in progress sites. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1195-information-about-s4gru-sponsorship-levels-and-how-to-become-a-sponsor/ AJ
  23. Sprint has not likely lied to you. Low level Sprint employees simply do not have reliable information on deployment. But we do. The DFW market is a highly active Network Vision area, and Denton already has three sites with completed LTE upgrades plus two more in progress. Become an S4GRU sponsor, and you can view maps of Network Vision progression in your area and across the country. http://s4gru.com/ind...come-a-sponsor/ AJ
