  1. Distance wise, orders are not likely moving very far, if at all this weekend. So, I would not get too hung up on the status updates. An order "shipped" today may be little different from one "shipped" on Sunday. AJ
  2. I agree in part. It should not be that difficult, but it almost always is difficult -- especially when dealing with tens of thousands of front line employees, almost none of whom have any wireless engineering expertise. AJ
  3. Uh, no. You get CDMA1X 800 when you need it. The same is true of LTE 800. If the market is "well blanketed," why are you worried? In that case, CDMA1X 1900 and LTE 1900 will be fine in nearly all circumstances. Do you just want to see more signal bars for psychological reassurance? AJ
  4. Is that German engineering? Sieg heil, Spigen Steinheil! AJ
  5. SoftBank will not? Do not push it. This is the US, not Japan. Sprint total subscribership is nearly half the total population of Japan. AJ
  6. I want to caution people against bugging customer care too much or going apeshit over the SIM concern. Let it all play out. The Nexus 5 may be shipped with a SIM that you can use. Regardless, you will be able to activate the handset on Sprint, but you may need to exercise some patience. This is the first cash and carry, unlocked Sprint handset in many years. Do not raise a ruckus and make Sprint question the decision to run with Google on this one. Like VZW, Sprint can just as easily decide to sit this one out next time. Then, we are back to the safe, easy to manage "walled garden" of devices. AJ
  7. Which source do you think has accurate, verifiable info? Sprint customer care reps or S4GRU? AJ
  8. I have forgotten. Does Ericsson have a known small cell solution? That is apt to be paramount for TD-LTE deployment. AJ
  9. Just a heads up... This thread will likely be closed early next week, since the first shipped Nexus 5s will be hitting delivery. We have reached 70 pages here, and it will be time to shift discussion to a users thread. AJ
  10. I find it interesting how the Nexus 5 as a device really seems to have brought us together. Maybe that is the reason for the ebony and ivory motif of the "white" version. AJ
  11. You guys sound like outlaws, talking about filing down your 2FF SIMs. AJ
  12. The SIM cards, themselves, are generic, coming from several different manufacturers. Most people probably have SIMs with their wireless provider branding, but that is not necessary. The wireless provider just needs to add unactivated SIMs to its database. So, the Nexus 5 could ship with a SIM. However, if it does, would Sprint be willing to activate that SIM? AJ
  13. Trust me, you do not want a standard SIM. Otherwise, you get something this size... You would have better luck trying to use that as a method of payment than getting it to fit inside the Nexus 5. AJ
  14. Can somebody give me directions to SIM City? AJ
  15. Yes, I think I saw those sim cats near the video games aisle. AJ
  16. I took a look at both the satellite and street views of this salon. It is clearly located in a lower socioeconomic neighborhood. My supposition is that the owner expects a payout from the government, GE, or AT&T. AJ
  17. The complaints in this thread need to stop. They violate posting rules, as S4GRU does not host Sprint complaints. Several of you should consider becoming sponsors, thus having access to our Network Vision completion maps. Right now, you are keeping yourselves in the dark regarding accurate info. AJ
  18. No, the new iPad models are not Sprint tri band. Relevant to Sprint, they are dual band 25/26 LTE 1900/800 -- just like this year's iPhone models. AJ
  19. No, that is incorrect. This is not the tri band Galaxy S4 Mini. This is a separate tri band, full size Galaxy S4. AJ
  20. It is interesting to see that the Roam Only setting from back in the olden days is still hiding out inside some Sprint handsets. AJ
  21. A small but vocal minority claim the need to carry around 32 GB of music, movies, etc. That does not represent the vast majority. Many of the rest of us realize that we will never come even close to 16 GB or even 8 GB capacity. It was interesting to see that play out -- pardon the pun -- with the Nexus 5 sales yesterday. In my case, I am not that price conscious, but why waste the extra $50? AJ
