  1.

    Have you tried NetMonitor?

Yes I have, and but it seems to be more inaccurate for Visalia towers than cdma field test is.

  2. Just got the viper today' date=' and for a low end phone so far it's great. I will be writing a full review this weekend for the site. Did I get 4g speeds on a NV site?? Just have to wait and see...

That's not fair to leave us in suspense, lol!

I think that's accurate. I live next to a Sprint site in New Mexico. As I change sectors around the tower' date=' the Base ID changes.

The Base IDs are in no way connected to Sprint Site ID's. The only way you can connect the two is geographically through GPS coords.

Even then it's still impossible for me to accurately locate my local towers even on my shift because CDMA field test puts it like a mile from where it actually is.

  4. Which number is the ID of the cell tower I'm connected to? None of the numbers seem to match any of the numbers of the towers I'm near according to the maps in the sponsor forum. Is that number not on those maps?

I did discover that Base ID is the actual tower that you are connected to, however, I can't match them up with the tower names in the Sponsor section.

  5. Sprint, I just thought that's what the signal indicator was called. It was weird though because now its back to -83 and I haven't moved at all.

Oh, that is still your CDMA service signal. And I have that problem indoors every once in a while on my Evo Shift. Signal just disappears and then comes back. It's probably happening when it changes towers to compensate and provide better service, which is more draining on the battery when I am equally distant from 2 towers.

  6. Thank you, I'm curious as well.

My gsm went -122 for about half a minute. No service is -105, does that mean I had negative service? ;)

That would still be no service, it's just that your phone was no where near a tower. Are you on at&t or T-Mobile, as you mentioned GSM.

  7. I think while Verizon is trying to get their spectrum deal approved, they will be intentionally understating their subscriber numbers, or making them sound less than they are. Keep pushing just the retail numbers publicly.

It may be a strategy, since their other performance indicators are so high, why talk up the subscribers numbers too? If the FCC is constantly hearing numbers less than 100M, makes Verizon seem less formidable than over 100M. That 100M threshold is huge. Even if just psychological. That's just my opinion. :imo:

That could very well be the reason the T-Mobile merger didn't go thru. Plus the fact that with T-Mo outta the way, at&t would be the only national GSM carrier in the country.
