  1. That's just marketers creaming themselves. There was no 4G or 3G WiFi. It's just hype. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

  5. The whole market is an active Network Vision/LTE deployment area. It could be related. Robert
  6. To me, the GNex feels like a Vanilla Android version of the GS-II with LTE capability. The GS-III is definitely a whole 'nother animal compared to the GNex. Robert

  8. by Robert Herron Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Sunday, July 8, 2012 - 2:30 PM MDT The next market in our Network Vision/LTE deployment schedule update series is...West Michigan. The West Michigan market has yet to be announced by Sprint, and may not be announced until as late as this Fall. The Sprint West Michigan market encompasses the Western and Central Portions of the Michigan Lower Peninsula, as well as a few isolated Upper Peninsula sites around St. Ignace, Mackinac Island and Sault Ste. Marie. This includes the cities of Grand Rapids, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Wyoming, Battle Creek, Portage, Muskegon, Holland, Traverse City, Mount Pleasant, Benton Harbor, St. Joseph and Niles. Sprint's Network Vision OEM Samsung is scheduled to begin mobilizing their subcontractors around the market in September. The first completed Network Vision sites are scheduled to start coming online in October. Anticipated Sites Complete at Market Launch. According to the Network Vision schedules that S4GRU has reviewed, if Sprint launched the market in March, these are the anticipated sites that would likely have LTE complete at that time. This would provide fairly good LTE coverage over many parts of the market. There likely will be more in the Grand Rapids Metro area than what is shown here. Schedule details and the bottom line Sprint has not yet selected a date to formally "launch" LTE service in West Michigan. It is difficult to try to pick a date now this far out, but we have attempted to do that. In looking at the schedule as of today, it would indicate a March market launch (going on a 40% - 50% completion for launch). But there is no way to know if Samsung and their subcontractors will actually hit their schedule dates before deployment in this market begins. We will be able to gauge better after a few months of production is achieved. Samsung needs to hit a production rate of approximately 45 sites per month to stay on schedule. This market shouldn't have problems staying on time as this is a lower production rate than many markets. S4GRU has examined the schedule in great detail in this market and sees that most of the sites will be complete by August 2013. However, there may be a few sporadic sites that will linger past the completion. Photo of Downtown Lansing provided courtesy of Wikimedia Commons. 10. by Robert Herron Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Sunday, July 8, 2012 - 12:09 PM MDT The next market in our Network Vision/LTE deployment schedule update series is...South Bay. The South Bay market has yet to be announced by Sprint, and may not be announced until as late as this Fall. The Sprint South Bay market encompasses Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey counties. This includes the cities of San Jose, Santa Clara, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Campbell, Los Altos, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Morgan Hill, Hollister, Gilroy, Salinas, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel and Soledad. Sprint's Network Vision OEM Samsung is scheduled to begin mobilizing their subcontractors around the market in October. The first completed Network Vision sites are scheduled to start coming online in November. Anticipated Sites Complete at Market Launch. According to the Network Vision schedules that S4GRU has reviewed, if Sprint launched the market in February, these are the anticipated sites that would likely have LTE complete at that time. This would provide fairly good LTE coverage over many parts of the market. Schedule details and the bottom line Sprint has not selected a date to formally "launch" LTE service in the South Bay-San Jose area, yet. It is difficult to try to pick a date now this far out, but we will attempt to do just that. In looking at the schedule as of today, it would indicate a February-March market launch (going on a 40% - 50% completion for launch). 11. It may be Network Vision, as work is starting in your area. Or it may be temporary upgrades that are being done to improve conditions ahead of Network Vision. These are shown at network.sprint.com. Robert
  12. The small isolated WiMax coverage areas in Puerto Rico are Protection Sites. You can read about Protection Sites here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/6-what-are-protection-sites/ Robert
  13. No. LTE Advanced just uses the same carriers. Deploying on more spectrum is the only thing that will help congestion. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

  15. The 3rd Round of NV starts around December/January. But markets take 8 to 13 months to complete. 2013 markets are smaller on the whole and will take much less time to complete. And NV is not supposed to be complete by the end of 2013. However, the final markets are supposed to be started before the end of 2013. NV should be completing around April/May 2014. 17. Likely two reasons. Number one is backhaul. Sprint awarded backhaul contracts to dozens of successful bidders around the country. Some are able to start backhaul right away. Others have to establish a lot of infrastructure work in advance. This is the biggest factor in establishing an order. The second reason is WiMax availability. In Second Round markets, there appears be some push for larger markets that never received WiMax at all. Even though many Americans slight Puerto Rico as being some small isolated place, they have nearly 4 Million people in their market. It is not like it is Minot, North Dakota. San Juan is a major U.S. city and it never received WiMax. There has to be a deployment order. And there are going to be people happy and unhappy with the deployment order. I think that where Cincinnati fits in deployment order makes sense to everyone, except for possible Cincinnatians. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  18. They may still release an iPad with Sprint LTE this year. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  19. The next evolution in mobile wireless data is LTE Advanced, which does not come even close to 5G standards. Also, Verizon's LTE network is not LTE Advanced ready in the way that Sprint's is. Sprint may even be able to beat Verizon to market with LTE Advanced. However, I don't think consumers are going to be willing to pay more for faster speeds than LTE. LTE will provide a service that will meet 99.99999% of consumers mobile data needs. They may desire more coverage, but I don't think they will desire more speeds. Especially if they have to pay more for it. As for Sprint LTE coverage, if you currently get native Sprint 3G coverage, you will also get Sprint LTE coverage before they complete your market and leave the area. 21. It's the same site. The site number is 61. The sector number connected to at that site is 8 or 9. I love next to a site that has BSIDs of 8097 and 8098. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
