  1. Not in the near future. We post deployment updates in our Sponsor section weekly. Robert
  2. I think it all comes down to backhaul availbility. That is the biggest driver in deployment schedule. The backhaul install schedule is what it is. So if you're Sprint, what do you do? Do you let the backhaul crews get farther out ahead and you delay the start by 2-3 months and then do 50-60 sites per month? Or do you start as soon as the first 30 sites or so have backhaul and deploy at a slower rate? To me it makes more sense to start as soon as possible so customers see the work is going on and build entusiasm, than to wait until the back end of the market schedule and blow through it all at once. Because either way, with the backhaul schedule being what it is, the finish date is the same either way. Only left out of the first 40% of sites. Those area will receive Network Vision/LTE deployment. The map only shows what is scheduled to be complete as of market launch day. Market launch is more ceremonial than anything. Deployment is active before, during and after launch until the market is complete. Robert

  5. Yes, LTE Advanced will be the first true 4G standard. So I'm sure Tmo marketing geniuses will try to call it 5G. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

  8. We are three quarters the way through our Second Round article series. Each article tells you about the details for each market. Also, the Network Vision Deployment Running list shows that info: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/212-network-visionlte-deployment-running-list/ Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner

  10. There will likely not be any Cleveland updates until Fall. If I learn something, you will know. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  11. Yes, 4x4 MIMO support (both ways) and Carrier Aggregation are the two largest factors of LTE Advanced. Although, getting four diverse Tx/Rx MIMO antennas seems like a very large feat in the limited real estate within a smartphone. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  12. by Robert Herron Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Monday, July 9, 2012 - 6:00 AM MDT The next market in our Network Vision/LTE deployment schedule update series is...Orange County, California. The Orange County market has yet to be announced by Sprint, and may not be announced until as late as this Fall. The Sprint Orange County market includes Anaheim, Santa Ana, Irvine, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Orange, Fullerton, Laguna Niguel and Mission Viejo. Sprint's Network Vision OEM Alcatel/Lucent is scheduled to begin mobilizing their subcontractors around the market in September. The first completed Network Vision sites are scheduled to start coming online in October. Anticipated Sites Complete at Market Launch. According to the Network Vision schedules that S4GRU has reviewed, if Sprint launched the market in April, these are the anticipated sites that would likely have LTE complete at that time. This would provide fairly good LTE coverage over many parts of the market. Schedule details and the bottom line Sprint has not selected a date to formally "launch" LTE service in Orange County, yet. It is difficult to try to pick a date now this far out, but we will try. In looking at the schedule as of today, it would indicate a April - May market launch (going on a 40% - 50% completion for launch). But there is no way to know if AlcaLu and their subcontractors will actually hit their schedule dates this early in the deployment for this market. We will be able to gauge better after a few months of production. Alcatel/Lucent needs to hit a production rate of only 35 sites per month to stay on schedule. This is a pretty low amount compared to many markets. There is no reason why they should not be able to complete the market on time, and there is a good chance that they may even be able to get ahead of schedule. S4GRU has examined the schedule in great detail in this market and sees that most of the sites will be complete by August 2013. However, there may be a few sporadic sites that will linger past the completion. Photo of Newport Center provided courtesy of Wikimedia Commons. 14. A 10x10 carrier has roughly double the capacity. But then again, VZW and ATT have double the customers. And since Sprint is deploying LTE on 1900MHz, their site density is much higher. So, in most places, Sprint will have equal or greater the amount of LTE capacity as VZW and ATT. Robert
  15. I too get frustrated with sales people who tell you what you want to hear to make a purchase. But, unfortunately, the issue is not limited to Sprint, or even this industry. We all should be leery of sales people and do our own homework. I don't trust any sales people. They only have one goal...to sell you something. Robert
  16. Cincinnati will receive Network Vision upgrades on every site in the market, including LTE coverage over its entire 3G service area. LTE will be much larger in scope than WiMax was. However, work will not begin in this market until 2013. Robert

  18. Never? You don't think Cincinnati will ever receive Sprint LTE service based on reading our site? Then you have definitely misread the info on our site. However, there is an order for deployment. And some people are going to be disappointed because they all cannot be in the first rounds. Robert
  19. Because Clearwire and Sprint's deal for LTE is usage based, the order will most likely be 1900 > 800 > 2600. They will not allow the 800 carrier get to 100% usage, so users will likely get shunted over to 2600 before the carrier starts getting full. LTE network management allows a lot more controls than CDMA and EcIo ratios. Robert
  20. Yes, Sprint will use 800MHz for capacity too. However, LTE 1900 will be a higher usage carrier. 800 will just be for shedding users when 1900 is nearing capacity, and of course for users outside of 1900 range (like in basements, bunkers and edge of service areas). Robert

  22. It's hard to tell looking at these photos, but I can rule out the circled ones in the middle are not Sprint. Could be the top or bottom ones, possibly. Robert
