  1. Clearwire is not in the position to shut down any Protection Sites without running afoul of the FCC. If they need to shut down a Protection Site, they will need to secure another location covering the same amount of POP's or possibly more. Robert
  2. It's not quite that easy to quantify. S4GRU marks a site as complete when Sprint accepts the site from the OEM. That's when we find out about them. For all we know, most or all the red ones could be complete with all construction activity, but there is something preventing them from being accepted. And it could be something very minor. It is entirely possible that a whole bunch clear all at once. We are not in the position to say that Sprint and their OEM's are behind schedule, or to what degree. All we know is the sites that have been accepted by Sprint to date, but were scheduled to be complete. I have seen Sprint documents that say that they WILL NOT accept a site complete until the OEM meets every single criteria as outlined in the contract. Sprint's acceptance of a site marks when the OEM can invoice for the work. So Sprint does not have an incentive to mark a site complete if it is not 100%. Once Sprint releases payment, they have nothing to hold over the OEM as incentive to go back and take care of anything that may be subpar. Robert
  3. And perhaps they will for new installments. But I can tell you that Sprint has over 100 DAS systems currently deployed, and they are on the Network Vision schedule to be overhauled to include LTE. Does it mean these DAS systems will be upgraded as is to include LTE, or will they be converted to picocells? That I cannot say. Robert
  4. I am working on the radio performance article of all the top Sprint devices. I am considering a LTE field trip to Texas or Kansas. Also, we have a series of 800MHz articles we have been planning for a long time. Robert
  5. Murder Burger (a Northern CA regional chain, it renamed itself Redrum Burger)
  6. The only way to tell is by driving around and observing. You probably should watch the LTE signal as shown in Settings > About, instead of using the signal strength indicator. There have been some reports of the signal strength indicator not showing LTE strength, but rather 1x signal strength. Robert
  7. The furthest in my observations that I have been able to confirm is about 12-14 miles on PCS. And about 18-20 miles on Cellular 850. Robert
  8. I've received a PM from an Apple employee who said they have DAS in the buildings and rooftop panels for the grounds and parking for all the supported carriers. Robert
  9. Have you received the new EVO OTA that started being pushed the other day? People are reporting improvements with connecting to LTE since they installed this latest OTA. Robert
  10. It's highly variable. In dense urban situations, they may be designed to go blocks or a half mile. In suburban location, it may be 1-3 miles. In a rural location, 3 to 7 miles. In remote places, on a 300' boomer in a wide open area without much ground clutter, CDMA signals can go 7-10 miles on PCS 1900. 800MHz will go even further than that. Robert
  11. Interactive maps are a feature that we offer to S4GRU Sponsors. We cannot post Sprint site maps with detailed locations publicly. So they are in a private section of the website. 12. That explains a lot. Thanks for the info. Robert
  13. I have one I created using Anycut. I have shortcuts to all my frequently used dialer functions. Robert
  14. It's in ##DEBUG#, using your phone dialer. Robert

  16. I'm considering a WP phone to toy around with when they come out. Especially if it does the LTEs. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  17. When I'm on VZW 850 3G with the hotspot, the RSSI tracks very similarly with my GS-III on a VZW PRL. The hotspot will be slightly better in most instances if I am holding the GS-III in my hand. If I put them both down, they track about the same. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  18. I haven't received it either. I'm wondering if they are only pushing it out to launched markets? Or maybe just starting with launched markets first. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  19. I've actually been a little disappointed in my LTE 700 coverage with my VZW hotspot. I was expecting equal coverage with VZW 850, and it's definitely not the case. VZW 850 extends into buildings significantly better and beyond LTE 700 edge of service. LTE 700 signals can be really fragile at edge of service conditions, similar to WiMax. Touch the device and you get dropped. All in all, LTE at 700 is way better than anything at 1900 or 2500. However, it is not the panacea many may be expecting based on my three weeks of observations so far. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
