  2. I have been saying (and Sprint has too) that deployment should continue into 2014. However, it appears that Sprint should be able to start all markets before the end of 2013. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
  3. by Robert Herron Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Tuesday, July 31, 2012 - 7:35 AM MDT The final market in our Network Vision/LTE deployment schedule update series is...Fort Wayne/South Bend. This market has yet to be announced by Sprint, and may not be announced until as late as this Fall. The Sprint Ft. Wayne/South Bend market covers most of Northern Indiana, except for the NW corner which is in the Chicago market. This includes Fort Wayne, South Bend, Mishawaka, Elkhart, Goshen, Marion, Logansport, Warsaw and Plymouth. Sprint's Network Vision OEM Samsung is scheduled to begin mobilizing their subcontractors around the market in November. The first completed Network Vision sites are scheduled to start coming online before the end of that month. Anticipated Sites Complete at Market Launch. According to the Network Vision schedules that S4GRU has reviewed, if Sprint launched the market in February, these are the anticipated sites that would likely have LTE complete at that time. This would provide fairly good LTE coverage over many parts of the market. Schedule details and the bottom line Sprint has not yet selected a date to formally "launch" LTE service in Northern Indiana. It is difficult to try to pick a date now this far out, but we have attempted to do that. In looking at the schedule as of today, it would indicate a February market launch (going on a 40% - 50% completion for launch). But there is no way to know if Samsung and their subcontractors will actually hit their schedule dates before deployment in this market begins. We will be able to gauge better after a few months of production is achieved. Samsung needs to hit a production rate of approximately 25 sites per month to stay on schedule. This is a below normal production rate when compared to other markets. They shouldn't have any schedule issues with the appropriate amount of resources allocated. S4GRU has examined the schedule in great detail in this market and sees that most of the sites will be complete by April 2013. However, there may be a few sporadic sites that will linger past the completion. Photo of Fort Wayne provided courtesy of Wikimedia Commons. 5. If you are unable to wait for Sprint LTE in Orange County, then you probably should go. No one should pay for a service that doesn't meet their needs. That being said, I keep a Verizon Hotspot for my use. It's great having LTE connectivity, but I despise the data caps. Always paranoid about my usage and trying to meter myself all month long is a royal pain. Sprint LTE unlimited will be the way to go, once it's available to you. Robert

  7. I love living in the mountains. I can't much handle temps over 85 degrees. Los Alamos has great Sprint 3G. Speeds always over 1Mbps on all three sites in town. Robert

  12. The blue sites are the ones scheduled to have LTE go live in August. The red ones are from previous months that were scheduled to be completed, but did not come live. Previous months have had a completion rate about 50%. Robert via Samsung Galaxy S-III 32GB using Forum Runner
  13. I have no new info about Milwaukee except the RF design is pretty much wrapping up now. Things look good for a Winter start, but I have not seen specific schedule information for this market, yet. Robert, S4GRU.com
  14. Once the market is 100% complete, LTE coverage will be pretty much identical with Sprint 3G coverage. It will take a lot of time to convert the entire market, though. About a year, start to finish. Robert
  15. Sprint is not deploying 3G EVDO in 800 spectrum. That is correct. They only have enough for one 1xA carrier and one LTE carrier. Robert
  16. Those areas are in the South Jersey market, which is not in the first two rounds of Network Vision. NV/LTE deployment will not begin in South Jersey until some time in 2013. 2013 market schedules have yet to be completed. Robert
  17. Completely unrelated to the post you quoted. However, there will be a marginal increase in voice/3G range with initial Network Vision deployment. And then there will be pretty strong range improvements in voice and 1x data with the 800MHz deployment, which happens between 6 months and 1 year later in most markets. LTE on 800 will improve LTE range even further when it starts being deployed in Late 2013. Robert
  18. Located in the maps below are the sites that are "scheduled" to go live with LTE before the end of August 2012. PLEASE NOTE THESE MAPS DO NOT INCLUDE SITES THAT ARE ALREADY COMPLETE. These maps only include the sites that are scheduled to complete and/or are past due from previous months. If Sprint's NV Schedule holds in August, the maps below show 3,202 LTE sites that should come live in the next 30 days or so. This map does not include 3G only sites that will go live in the same period. I'm starting to doubt whether these maps are helpful as deployment is getting behind schedule in several places. The amount of past due sites is growing and growing. I guess I'll keep posting these as long as you all want to see them. Notes: The first Baltimore LTE sites should start going live in the next week or so. NYC and DC should also start seeing their first LTE sites be completed this month. We are all hoping to see Austin deployment really begin in earnest this month, as this market is behind schedule now. We are expecting to see some solid Miami/West Palm deployments this month. Also, the very first Nashville sites may appear before month's end. North Carolina love is supposed to begin with also the very first Charlotte and Raleigh/Durham sites should be completed if NV stays on schedule. And maybe some Philadelphia and Norfolk action too? S4GRU Sponsors can view interactive versions of these maps by following this link. Also, Sponsors can follow along as we show progress throughout the month in our NV Complete Sites thread.
