  1. Welcome to S4GRU! Hope to see you around. And thanks for supporting the site! Robert
  2. I'm roaming on Verizon here in South Dakota and every call takes me 20-30 seconds to go through. None of my roaming is instant like you noted. Robert
  3. Thanks to the now three members who have added recurring donations! Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

  5. It is most likely the nearest live Verizon and Tmo LTE sites are just much closer than the nearest live Sprint LTE site. They are still adding LTE sites all over Boston. They are not even close to being 100% complete. If you become a S4GRU Sponsor, you can see site maps and can determine if the closest sites to your location have been upgraded yet. Because if they have not, then it will get better when LTE goes live on a closer site. If they have already been upgraded, then Sprint LTE will not get better in your work location until LTE 800 goes live and you have a Triband LTE phone. That would not likely be until some time in 2014. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  6. I had two DSL modem/routers in three years fail. Windstream would not handle the OEM warranty for me. The only thing they were willing to do is sell me another one, or lease me a replacement. And it sounds like you were leasing yours from Comcast. If you leased your phone from Sprint, I could see them handling it for you like Comcast. Because they would actually be the Owner of the device. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

  8. It's not a big deal. I just was surprised because in my mind what I was thinking was obvious and above reproach. So I was caught off guard that it was being questioned. Especially by a staff member. Maybe I'm just overly concerned about the Chiefs. Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note II using Tapatalk
  9. I never said anything about towers, tower counts, tower density. I'm talking about geographic coverage. Square mileage. It's about 1/3. You sit there and talk all the time about how the other 2/3 gets slighted by every carrier, even the duopoly. And now you want to give Tmo a pass because they have islands of goodness. Whoop dee doo. It's just the way it is. Tmo only works on 1/3 of their coverage area. And it is certainly fair for me to mention that. Robert via Samsung Galaxy Note II using Tapatalk
  10. Don't preach to me about documentation. Yeah, I got a link. It's called the Tmo coverage map. To my eye, it looks like geographically over their coverage area, only about 1/3 of it is WCDMA or LTE. Why would you dispute this? Robert
  11. Let's also paint a realistic picture of Tmo's backhaul. They only upgraded backhaul over about only 30% of their geographic service area. The cities only. And not even the area around cities. Sometimes completely missing suburbs and exurbs. And also, many Tmo LTE sites have backhaul that is not quite robust enough for existing WCDMA traffic. And they just connected LTE to it. So I have encountered many Tmo LTE sites with little to no traffic, 10MHz channels, full signal and getting 3-5Mbps. Also, AWS LTE should only be used as an overlay. Because of the site spacing, many places Tmo LTE is a bunch of islands. Even slightly worse than LTE 1900. And indoor coverage is non existent more than 1/4-1/2 mile from a Tmo LTE site. And the final thing is that there are a lot of sites not upgraded within their launch cities. Just the same as Sprint. But they don't get called out for it. Tmo LTE is pretty nice, especially where they have really robust backhaul. I smile those few times I get 50Mbps speeds (which has been on only 3 of about 200 sites I've used). And Tmo is a good carrier for some people. But Sprint's is also a viable carrier for many people. And Sprint's position in 15 months is much better than Tmo. Without any significant changes to Tmo's plans, it's going to get tougher and tougher for them. But the exuberence for Tmo will be painted in the correct light here at S4GRU. It's why I have all four carriers. So I can have an honest dialog about them all. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  12. I've seen a few scenarios for Network Vision upgrades at flagpole sites: Increase the diameter of the pole to be able to fit new NV panels, and ground mount RRU's Convert the site to a monopole site with exposed panels and RRU's mounted to the pole Make into a GMO site with ground mounted RRU's Do not upgrade the site Seems like #1 is the most common. #3 is also pretty common. I have only seen #2 happen once with Sprint in my observations, but I have seen it happen several times with AT&T and Verizon. Robert
  13. S4GRU is still around because of you. Being a member driven and supported site, we thrive as others fall. We will still be around as long as you guys (and a few gals) are still here. Robert

  15. It's not a scam. It's an extra service you don't have to buy. The insurance and help with your warranty. They are optional extra services. Why do you think you feel entitled to Sprint handling your personal business with the manufacturer? Buy your phones from someone else then. Scam, my ass. 16. Just so everyone is clear, the OP is an acceptable post. It lists details of an issue and asks for information or guidance to help resolve. It is not a rant. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  17. I'm kind of surprised that only one person has added this monthly contribution to S4GRU since it was announced earlier this week. I have been asked to add this feature by at least two dozen members. Perhaps you all were waiting for the weekend? Robert

  19. AT&T provides a lot of backhaul to Sprint in Texas, the South, Florida and California. Think of the former SBC companies...BellSouth, Southwestern Bell (SBC) and Pacific Bell. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  20. You don't wanna know! You'd never be able to look at me again with a straight face. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  21. Yeah, me either. I do want a solution for them as well. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
