I don't know how to do any of the mapping or anything without digging through this message board. If anyone wants me to map something or explain how to link to the 4G tower better, that would help. I would also lover to see a map of 4g locations

If you have an android device, simply download the sensorly app from the play store. You can configure to do background checks or only when you are actively using the app.

If you have an idevice, there is also a sensorly app, but it can not do signal checks.

Either app will let you see the various carriers signals on a google map overlay.

you can also view the map on the web @ http://www.sensorly.com/fullscreen/map/4G/US/USA/Sprint/lte_310sprint

Also if you have an android device, you can get this app http://goo.gl/5XNLg (free version available too) made by a S4GRU member. Its great for determining your network and such. Also includes a quick way to reset your data connections and potentially pop into LTE. Sensorly will just keep you stuck in 3G if you started in 3G because its sending data that way. It will be reluctant to switch over to LTE.

So if you're in an area that has LTE for sure, then go airplane mode and back, or use the SignalCheck Pro app.

EDIT: then kick on the mapping tool Sensorly after you've established the LTE connection. :)

This is what I have learned in the Milwaukee/Madison market thread. Very helpful. We FINALLY have our first towers in the STATE!

Starting Monday I'm driving from Saint Charles to 9th and lynch. I'll try to take different routes with sensorly running. Hopefully we can add some more purple.

Thanks...I just got both of the apps and mapped about 30 points. Do those things show up on the sensorly map?

The sensorly android apps is what creates the purple on the sensorly apps yes, it is all user submitted via the app. It takes anywhere from a few hours to a few days for the points to show up on the map.

Different zoom layers are regenerated at different times, so you can zooming in/out and get slightly different plots.

They will show up on Sensorly Maps eventually. Not sure the lag, but yesterday in the Madison, WI area, someone mapped our first tower and about 30 minutes later we all could see the purple (just south of McFarland, WI). But you have to zoom in pretty far to get the purple to show up if there isn't much in your area. Mileage may vary some with this.

I have never posted here before, I have just been reading it... BUT MY 4G LIT UP FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, AND AT WORK IN COLUMBIA, IL. SWEET!!!!. It was just for a little while though. I got 3mb download.

What is the address of your workplace? Or if you don't want to say that....the nearest intersection.

Edit: Disregard this.

west sand bank and route 3 columbia, il

Another thing, next time you go there can you go into your LTE Engineering screen and take a screenshot of it. Information on how to do this is in my signature.

I have been very unimpressed by the signal of my HTC evo 4G lte for a while. For example I am near Lindbergh and Lemay Ferry now and I have 3 bars 3g while my wife has 4G on her samsung galaxy s3

At this point we think that 4G connection that you are getting is coming from a site in Illinois. So the 4G is not going to be very good where you are right now.

also evo 4g lte has well known radio sensitivity issues.

the s3/s/4/note2 are well known to be very sensitive and be able to connect and maintain 4g further than many devices

Serving Cell 369 RSRP - 114 parking lot of Cici south county on Lindbergh

Thats a horrible signal....so most likely it is coming from the site in Columbia, IL across the river from there.

I think all of the south county and dupo/columbia is coming from telegraph & kingston.

I drove around and plotted out 2k points today on both sides of the river.

from 255/telegraph, it goes north to around river city casino, telegraph south to around yeager, lindbergh north (west) to about i55, and 255 east around to dupo, and south east down rt3 a little past quarry road.
