Just chatted with another nTelos representative. I was told they have done "soft" launches in Beckley and Waynesboro, I asked if Sprint customers could connect once it is formally launched but i was continuously told that the roaming agreement is only for 3G data. Then again i know online chats like that should be taken with a grain of salt so it was probably just a tactic to provoke me into switching.

The roaming agreement for ev-do only. I don't think the ntelos reps know what they're talking about. I'm with you he was trying to get you to switch since it's live in Beckley.

Back on the 18th Robert posted on this thread saying that Sprint users will "DEFINITELY" connect, it was written and signed and over with, and further supports that they are trying to directly sell us the service.

Yep. But further switch integration or network authentication integration with Sprint may be required. It could take a few weeks. Also, the agreement between Sprint and nTelos is not a roaming agreement. It is a wholesale network agreement. nTelos coverage is native for Sprint customers. Not roaming. And the difference is very significant.

Hello all. I'm a new poster but a long time peruser.  Thought you all would appreciate this screenshot from Waynseboro the other day.  I'm an nTelos user for 17 years and this was taken on the moto x.

Also everywhere I've been from Amherst to Lynchburg I have been connected to eHRPD instead of evdo and my ping times and speed on 3g are considerably faster.post-32252-0-79127900-1387819975_thumb.png

Another thought...is the nTelos LTE released so far in PCS? I know that nTelos also has AWS holdings.

i know that when i did have LTE in waynesboro it was band 13.  Which is what Verizon uses I thought.

If that is true then it may be bad news... Unless it doesn't require PCS to connect under that agreement. Most phones do have the hardware to connect to that band anyway.

What hope would there be for anyone here to find out if this detail about the agreement is true. They seem to be pretty insistent, as if they were prepared to answer that question. Lying about it would be pretty bad for them. It would false be advertising, intentionally hurting their direct customer / partner.

I just called Sprint about this and, according to the agent that I talk to, this is true. He said that ,as far as he could see, they did not have an LTE agreement with NTELOS. He seemed to to imply that they would be over building for LTE. Probably BS, but depressing anyway.

In the last paragraph it talks about Sprint customers and their LTE network. I recall one of the Sprint executives saying verbally after this agreement was reached for the billing problems that they have worked out an LTE wholesale agreement. I don't remember if it was an investor conference or quarterly earnings call Q&A. But I wasn't able to find that with a quick search just now.

I think they are still playing hardball with Sprint: They want to get bought out. Otherwise, a move that could affect 40% of your revenue, would make no sense. This, of course, if any of what the agent told me is true

Lying? Misinformed? Guessing? I have no idea. However, Sprint often does the same thing. Gross ineptitude or blatant falsehoods? Who knows??

      I think the push for them is adding US Mobile as a MVNO with a priority data plan.  Ultimately, making people more aware of priority would allow them (and other carriers) to differentiate themselves from MVNOs like Consumer Cellular that advertise the same coverage. n77 has dramatically reduced the need for priority service at Verizon where the mere functioning of your phone was in jeopardy a couple of years ago if you had a low priority plan like Red Pocket. Only have heard of problems with T-Mobile in parts of Los Angeles. AT&T fell in between. All had issues at large concerts and festivals, or sporting events if your carrier has no on-site rights. Edit: Dishes native 5g network has different issues: not enough sites, limited bandwidth. Higher priority would help a few. Truth is they can push phones to AT&T or T-Mobile.

      Tracfone AT&T sims went from QCI 8 to 9 as well a couple years ago. I'm pretty neutral towards AT&T's turbo feature here, the only bad taste left was for those who had unadvertised QCI 7 a couple months ago moved down to 8. In my eyes it would have been a lot better for AT&T to include turbo in those Premium/Elite plans for free to keep them at QCI 7, while also introducing this turbo add on option for any other plans or devices. As it stands now only a handful of plans can add it, and only if you're using a device on a random list of devices AT&T considers to be 5G smartphones.

      My Red Pocket AT&T GSMA account was dropped to QCI 9 about a year ago.  Most recently 8 for the last few years prior.  Voice remains at 5.

Based on how I was treated with my Credit Limit, it's definitely not the same company it was before the merger, and it's entirely possible they'd try it.
