Im off contract a few months, new phone costs

My Sprint contract was up a while back (got an EVO 4G Wimax as soon as I could find one in a store after launch).

 

Im looking at new phones leaning hard to the Note 2, but my question is about how they price them.

 

New customers, phone upgrade extend contract, and full price phones are the 3 options most places list.

 

 

Im not exactly a new customer but it would be a new contract. The new customer prices are generally a good deal cheaper. To get the best price do I need to leave for a couple months?

I could do the Goggle Vocie thing and pay $20 and still save I think.

 

You would think I after your contract is up your monthly fee would go down a bit as they got their phone money back over the last 2 years.

Your paying the same price per month regardless if you brought a phone with you to sprint, or not. So its a shame the prices stay the same.

 

The price of the Galaxy Note II will be the same price for new customers, as it is for people upgrading to a 2-Year Contrat

There are 2 prices as I understand it. It used to be that new customers got the best prices, but on many (if not all) phones, extending your contract for a 2 year commitment will give you prices as low as new customers. This does seem to vary a little, but the renewal prices are very good. Also look at other sources than sprint. Sometimes retailers like Radio Shack or best Buy will have promotions that will make them a better deal. Also buying by mail will help lower price also.

alright so as far as I know if u walk up into a sprint store if ur a new customer say the phone for new customer is $199 well then it's also $199 for the phone if you upgrade also same applies for sprint site. Or there are places on the Internet like Amazon Wireless who has the phone I personally want $99 for an contract extension while for brand new customers its $29 so it just all depends but that same phone if I upgrade at sprint store/website is $199 and $199 for new customers. Hope that makes sense

I was looking at Galaxy S3s at a lot of places even Costco and Sam's Club. Best I saw was $99 for new customers and $149 for contract extension. Best Buy also has them today only for $99 for "new customers".

yeah but that's if u wanna buy it elsewhere technically sprint only has it for $199 for 16 GB. but other places have it cheaper I guess it really just depends on the store

I'm pretty sure those retailers get a better deal for new lines of service rather than contract renewals

They make a commission on new lines of service. Sprint pays them a portion of the contract when they "recruit" a new customer instead of just upgrading the handset of an existing customer. As was stated earlier, you can get around that by opening a new line and porting your number to GVoice and then to your "new" line of service. Or if you are like me, you just get a new number and save the $20.
