Network Vision/LTE - Miami/West Palm Market

Mondays In Flames

Recommended Posts

Yea Luis. I sat in the publix parking lot when it was accepted, and yesterday. Nothing. I should have posted.

That particular tower is 1.91 miles from my house in a straight line.

The one at 184 / US 1 is .96 miles

The one at 168ish / 117ish ave is 1.03 miles

I don't think I will be having signal inside the house, but that's ok. WiFi =D

I do want the tower on Key Biscayne to be lit up, but that's probably going to be some time next year.

Oh, alright, thanks!

How do you know if the LTE signal is being broadcasted but blocked (as you explained)?

Well, you have to have a RF analyzer, AJ has one, that's how we knew. I have a feeling it's not being blocked though. That would go against all the trends of the past couple months.

I got a question for u. If u look at sensorly an i noticed lte popping up in pompano an parts of deerfeild I'm just a little north an west of the lte like about 25 min north in the west part of boca. Do u think it is possible lte could pop up closer to me in the next few weeks? I looked at a few towers an did not notice any changes to them. So I'm kinda curious if there is any work going on in boca. I am getting ehrpd which i guess is a good sign

I'm pretty sure they're doing work in Boca, what I'm wondering is what caused it to seem like it was skipped over.. Last week I mapped from West Palmetto to Yamato & 95, headed North to Palm Beach Gardens, then went West. When I got a chance to review I noticed the sites I mapped from Boynton to Lake Worth.. I find it interesting something happened that they skipped over OR are behind in Boca & Delray considering we've watched coverage start South and work up to us.

Whatever the case, we're close!

Yea i dont know why we were skipped. Well we are not skipped its just ericsson works on towers randomly i think. I visited a few towers today an i did not noticed any change to them an i toggled airplane mode an got only 3g. But i looked on the map of where towers were in boca i noticed one on the map that i always pass by an never seen.its by the turnpike an boa rio road but the trick is its on a golf course. So i had to walk behing a party city by following a trail next to a canal an by the way there were gators on the bank but i walked pass them no problem. I followed the trail all the back an sure enough i found the tower. Its not a very tall one i have to say an i could not tell which rack was sprints cause i could not get closer thanks to a fence but i got some pics.

It's not an issue of being skipped. They work on the next site that is available and ready. Each county and city has different permitting timelines and also backhaul availability varies drastically from site to site. Boca sites will be worked on when they are ready.

What does gray color mean in sensorly? I thought signal levels were displayed in different shades of purple but never seen gray color...?

It means no LTE signal. Some devices keep logging data to Sensorly even when it has no LTE signal at all.

Yeah I saw that too and freaked! It's right by me so I drove around this morning but got nothing. Just really slow 3G.

Somewhere in this thread it was mentioned that in the South Florida market (or maybe all of Ericsson's markets) they were only hooking up 4G but they would come back later and do the 3G/Network Vision improvements. Isn't that double the amount of work for them?

So I get that when 4G is done at a tower, everything LTE related is done, including backhaul to support the increased throughput etc.

What are exactly the 3G improvements?

Yes, but it's related to an Ericsson equipment problem. So it's Ericsson's problem that they will have to come back. Most of the 3G work is being done though at the same time as the LTE. So the return trip doesn't involve a lot of work.

Looking at the map, I should have 4g on Pines Blvd. from just east of Douglas Road up to the Turnpike. I drove that route on the way to work. Only briefly picked up 4g by Perry Airport and was real slow (1.5megs). 3g after 72 Ave to the Turnpike. Maybe they were just testing when it got mapped???

I'm having serious issues in boca. I'm constantly roaming an I'm at work by a tower. It switches from roaming to 1 bar not roaming back to roaming. I might have to call sprint and see what's going on in my area cause i can't load pages really slow. An call quality is bad with no bars. Is this a bad sign in my area?

Having my first 4gasm right now! Strong 4G in the Dolphin mall movie theater. Loving it!

Update: 4g is only available on the second floor where the theater is. Once I got to the first floor 3g only. :(

Got to put my first spot on sensorly though! ;)
