Capacity fail!

Recommended Posts

Look at the times of the last 4 test. Lol! Hopefully this will get fixed. This is near where I work, and my house is ten times worse. post-572-13422832629207_thumb.jpg

Yea is that weird? Lol Lakeland, FL

I would say your results are on par on what to expect until sites are completed with NV. I don't believe any part of Florida have any completed NV sites at the moment. Your results are similar to what I experience in certain parts of SFL. 3G works great n the early mornings when no one is using it here too...

I guess not. For some reason I just assumed those speeds were related to an LTE slated area...just checking. You can make a lot of people really nervous reporting those speeds with a title that says "Capacity fail!". I was thinking....please dont let it be Atlanta!

lol...post responsibly. :D

Good point bro. I apologize can't change the title now. Tapatalk won't let me.

Typically when your download speeds are bad but upload speeds are good, that is typically a backhaul problem. When both upload and download speeds are crap, its usually a capacity problem and more carriers are needed. There are exceptions to this rule.

Ahh. Well thank you for clearing that up! That should be cleared up with NV anyways.

I'm just in a bad signal area all around. Just hoping NV and LTE will cover these spotty signal areas with better coverage.

3G speeds here where I'm staying in lakeside FL/middle burg off of college are good

I know that area well. I have a lot of family in Clay County. Especially around Keystone Heights.

I was in the metrowest area of orlando yesterday, and got ~1.4mbps, which was better than Verizon on my friend's rezound(he made it fair and put it on 3G). This was around 3PM, so it was definitely during usage time. I have always had the best luck with Sprint in the Orlando area fwiw

Off Topic...but I think I might have just accidentally clicked on Report for you post Deval, when I was trying to click on "Back to Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment". Not sure if it actually did report or how to tell though.

If I did, the moderators can just ignore. And it was nothing personal...just clicking too fast.

It did not show up. You know that Deval is a Moderator, right? S4GRU Staff: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1250-s4gru-staff/

I "knew" this but didn't think about it in the panic of accidentally reporting someone.

Maybe my mouse was still moving and it didn't quite click where I thought I did. For future reference, if I actually did click Report would the link for Report show up differently for that post? (Not that I ever plan to do that again)

I have accidentally hit the report button several times myself, but never submitted. When you successfully report something, a little exclamation point appears in the same line as the Report link in the offending post.

Maybe we need moderators for the moderators to keep people like deval from getting drunk with power :)

Who is power? Sounds like a fun guy.

I think he is referring to my favorite Saturday drink power-aid and vodka mixed 50/50. B)

I'm in Fleming Island and its funny because when out on 220 or 17, speed/signal are fine, but when you go into the eagle harbor neighborhood, they plummet.

    • In the conference call they had two question on additional spectrum. One was the 800 spectrum. They are not certain what will happen, thus have not really put it into their plans either way (sale or no sale). The do have a reserve level. It is seen as great for new technologies which I presume is IOT or 5g slices.  They did not bite on use of their c-band or DOD.  mmWave rapidly approaching deadlines not mentioned at all. FWA brushes on this as it deals with underutilized spectrum on a sector by sector basis.  They are willing to take more money to allow FWA to be mobile (think RV or camping). Unsure if this represents a higher priority, for example, RVs in Walmart parking lots where mobile needs all the capacity. In terms of FWA capacity, their offload strategy is fiber through joint ventures where T-Mobile does the marketing, sales, and customer support while the fiber company does the network planning and installation.  50%-50% financial split not being consolidated into their books. I think discussion of other spectrum would have diluted the fiber joint venture discussion. They do have a fund which one use is to purchase new spectrum. Sale of the 800Mhz would go into this. It should be noted that they continue to buy 2.5Ghz spectrum from schools etc to replace leases. They will have a conference this fall  to update their overall strategies. Other notes from the call are 75% of the phones on the network are 5g. About 85% of their sites have n41, n25, and n71. 93% of traffic is on midband.  SA is also adding to their performance advantage, which they figure is still ahead of other carriers by two years. It took two weeks to put the auction 108 spectrum to use at their existing sites. Mention was also made that their site spacing was designed for midrange thus no gaps in n41 coverage, while competitors was designed for lowband thus toggles back and forth for n77.
    • The manual network selection sounds like it isn't always scanning NR, hence Dish not showing up. Your easiest way to force Dish is going to be forcing the phone into NR-only mode (*#*#4636#*#* menu?), since rainbow sims don't support SA on T-Mobile.
    • "The company’s unique multi-layer approach to 5G, with dedicated standalone 5G deployed nationwide across 600MHz, 1.9GHz, and 2.5GHz delivers customers a consistently strong experience, with 85% of 5G traffic on sites with all three spectrum bands deployed." Meanwhile they are very close to a construction deadline in June for 850Mhz of mmWave in most of Ohio iirc. No reported sightings.

They're completely avoiding talking about mmWave.
    • Was true in my market. Likely means a higher percentage of 5g phones in your market.
