All my info has changed too. The best part is I'm no longer under contact. They wiped it out when I used m upgrade and got on easy pay. I'm happy.

Welp, I guess I will be returning the new iPhone on Friday when I get it.  I am currently on the iPhone for life lease from last year.  I asked Sprint if I could upgrade early on their new plan, and they honored my request and reset my upgrade date.  It seemed too easy.  Well I logged into my acct this morning and saw a charge for $300 on my acct.  I contacted care and they are telling me I still have to payoff my old lease to do the upgrade and they are not budging.  This was not told to me when I asked if I could do an early upgrade. So in reality they were not doing me a favor.  I know a couple of other members got their date moved up who are also on iPhone for life so you probably want to check your accts also.  In the end its the contract I signed and I will honor it, just feel a little misled by the rep that offered the early upgrade and presented it in a way that they were taking care of my original lease.

Sell your old phone and cover the payoff amount? That's what I plan on doing to cover what I had to put down for my phone.

I would have to pay $500 to buyout the phone then. Just not worth the hassle right now. My guess is the original rep thought they were doing a favor and with leasing still being fairly new did not understand everything. I am going to give the benefit of the doubt that it was not an intentional mislead on her part.

It's a long shot but tweet Marcelo and his team will get back with you and see what they can do. It really could have just been a honest mistake but even still. But I do see where you're coming from. Just thinking about it feels like a lot to do when you can just give back the phone.

I was on the iPhone for life plan and this worked for me. They upgraded both of my lines. Just make sure you tweet @marcelo and @sprintcare. I had my upgrades in about 30 minutes. Very easy

Wow! Just read this will definitely keep a eye on my account. Thanks for the heads up

Yup.  Getting the upgrade date moved up was not the issue.  It's that they are now coming back and insisting the current lease has to be paid off.  They are telling me the upgrade date and the lease payoff are two different items.  Basically moving up your upgrade date does nothing regarding the lease status.  At least that is the way it is going for me. The $300 charge showed up when my shipping status updated to shipped on my pre-order.  Nothing during the order process indicated I would have to pay the lease termination.

Just to be clear, I am not upset with Sprint.  I signed the contract, and I will honor it.  I just wish the communication was more clear.  If this would have been explained to me upfront, I would have probably declined the upgrade offer.

I'd still tweet Marcelo or email Marci (Marci@Sprint.com), explain the situation and see what happens.

Yeah I have a 322 balance on my account, 315 for my early lease + taxes.  I haven't even been billed for last months usage either.  They should have made this a little more clear when you sign up for these lease programs.  I talked with a chat specialist and he informed me the early lease charge and taxes will go away once the old phone is received.

Interesting, I contacted Sprint through chat and she told me I would have to pay.  Were you on the old iPhone for life from last year?

My guess is with this being the first big upgrade cycle since leasing was introduced last year there is some confusion among the reps.

I may give that a try later.  I sent a DM to the rep that offered the upgrade, but she is not in until 1.  I will update if I hear something.

I hope so

Were you on iPhone for life?

We all switched out of our 2 year contracts over to the iPhone forever plan. The rep said that our account has been charged for the devices (all brand new iPhone 6's) because our pre-orders have begun to ship. When we return the phone to the store or via mail, the amount will be removed.

Edit: And that is only 3 devices. The other one has not even been charged yet. Haha. Certainly puts into perspective how much these phones "cost"

I hope that is my issue also.  Communication is still not one of Sprints strengths.  I mean, if you need to charge the acct pending device return, fine.  Just make sure you let the customer know instead of having them log into their acct and see a surprise like that.

Yeah, I just sent sprintcare and marcelo a tweet and got a rep to respond pretty quick.  Pretty much confirmed what the chat specialist said.  I recommended they charge the early lease fee if the device isn't returned within the 30 day mark.  That's crazy to do it before you even have the new device.  I bet new account holders are freaking out

TBH, most people probably won't even notice it. They'll turn in their phones, wait for their first billing statement and it will have never been on it.

Here is what I got back from my rep that gave me the early upgrade on Twitter.

Thank your for that information. Sorry for any miscommunication. We will adjust the accelerated charge for canceling your lease early with the return of your equipment. You should receive a return kit to facilitate the return of your current device. Please DM us if you have any additional concerns about this process.

My guess is the chat rep earlier did not know of my arrangement and was giving me a stock answer.  Looks like everything is ok.  :tu:

    • Excuse my rookie comments here, but after enabling *#73#, it seems that the rainbow sim V2? requires n70 (I turned it off along with n71 - was hoping to track n66) to be available else it switches to T-Mobile.  So this confirms my suspicion that you need to be close to a site to get on Dish.  Have no idea why they don't just use plmn. To test, I put it into a s21 ultra, rebooted twice, came up on T-Mobile (no n70 on s21).  Tried to manually register on 313340, but it did not connect (tried twice). I am on factory unlocked firmware but used a s22 hack to get *#73# working.  Tried what you were suggesting with a T-Mobile sim partially installed, but that was very unstable with Dish ( I think they had figured that one out).  [edit: and now I see Boost sent me a successful device swap notice which says I can now begin to use my new device.  Sigh.  Will try again later and wait for this message - too impatient.]
    • Hopefully this indicates T-Mobile hasn't completely abandoned mmwave and/or small cells? But then again this is the loop, so take that as you will. Hopefully now that most macro activity is done (besides rural colo/builds), they will start working on small cells.
    • This has been approved.. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/fcc-approves-t-mobiles-deal-to-purchase-mint-mobile/
    • In the conference call they had two question on additional spectrum. One was the 800 spectrum. They are not certain what will happen, thus have not really put it into their plans either way (sale or no sale). They do have a reserve level. Nationwide 800Mhz is seen as great for new technologies which I presume is IOT or 5g slices.  T-Mobile did not bite on use of their c-band or DOD.  mmWave rapidly approaching deadlines not mentioned at all. FWA brushes on this as it deals with underutilized spectrum on a sector by sector basis.  They are willing to take more money to allow FWA to be mobile (think RV or camping). Unsure if this represents a higher priority, for example, FWA Mobile in RVs in Walmart parking lots working where mobile phones need all the capacity. In terms of FWA capacity, their offload strategy is fiber through joint ventures where T-Mobile does the marketing, sales, and customer support while the fiber company does the network planning and installation.  50%-50% financial split not being consolidated into their books. I think discussion of other spectrum would have diluted the fiber joint venture discussion. They do have a fund which one use is to purchase new spectrum. Sale of the 800Mhz would go into this. It should be noted that they continue to buy 2.5Ghz spectrum from schools etc to replace leases. They will have a conference this fall  to update their overall strategies. Other notes from the call are 75% of the phones on the network are 5g. About 85% of their sites have n41, n25, and n71, 90% 5g.  93% of traffic is on midband.  SA is also adding to their performance advantage, which they figure is still ahead of other carriers by two years. It took two weeks to put the auction 108 spectrum to use at their existing sites. Mention was also made that their site spacing was designed for midrange thus no gaps in n41 coverage, while competitors was designed for lowband thus toggles back and forth for n77 also with its shorter range.
    • The manual network selection sounds like it isn't always scanning NR, hence Dish not showing up. Your easiest way to force Dish is going to be forcing the phone into NR-only mode (*#*#4636#*#* menu?), since rainbow sims don't support SA on T-Mobile.
