  1. I thought about inviting Robert out for some face-to-face fried chicken feasting on our Oregon trip last August, but I don't know if he'd have made the trek from Seattle to Portland just for KFC. Next time we go I may have to rethink the idea after finding this article - it might just be enough to entice him:

    https://pdx.eater.com/maps/best-fried-chicken-portland

it could be KFC or home made, if its fried chicken, the man will be there.

great, now I'm hungry. ugh btw that link/pic looks great.

  2. Good read on the magic box. Basically summarizes in more simple terms what I've said here.

Good article. Question if I may. Since it covers an area of 30,000 sq ft indoors and 100 meters outdoors, I assume that each box won't interfere with a neighbors box if they also had one.

So question on small cells.... what if Spring merges with T-Mobile .... what happens to all those small cells? Ie... I'm sure T-Mobile would be the dominating network and would replace the sprint equipment with their own. Can any small cells be reconfigured?

If the two merge it will help with Densificatioñ right away. While TMobile will most likely turn off CDMA. Both need more small cells.

I would also add that even if Son announced tomorrow a merge of the two companies, nothing will get done until after it is approved (usually a year after) and then another 1 or 2 if not more for equipment and phone changes. By then another version of the magic box would probably be in the pipeline.
  3. Sprint posted this chart in the CTO blog. They're really small areas but it shows what Sprint can achieve when they invest heavily in an area.

That chart is Interesting. Taking NYC for example, if that is on one avenue only, from Grand St to 23rd st (1 and 1/2 straight mile) or all blocks above Grand St and below 23rd st. roughly 4.83 sq miles. Would be cool if they included all 304 sq miles of NYC for comparison. Speaking of which, as I checked the sq miles of each of those cities I was surprised to find out that Houston has more sq miles than NYC (629 overall).

  4. Been with S4GRU almost from the beginning give or take 4-5 months I believe.

Started out giving ideas, then helped out with modding by reporting stuff and eventually ended up on staff. Learn something new each day, but most of the technical stuff, no matter how hard I try, flies over my head. So I just sit in the background mostly quiet, except for every 3 months when the earnings come out or a new device I like comes out or if I give a one way ticket to Banlandia.

Came really close to meeting a few members in real life, but didn't pan out do to scheduling, work and real life. etc.

I like the members, staff, style and uniqueness of the forum, unlike many others that for lack of better words are, crazy and disappointing.

  5. Direct link..

Thanks, I saw it on the laptop. Unit is a bit bigger than I thought.

I really wanted to known what Masa was going to say at the end of the conference call. To bad he got cut off, but it was kind of funny.

He said, "I just sold to T-Mobile"

Just imagine what John and Neville are saying now?

    They said "Welcome to T-Mobile"

Sorry, couldn't resist. I'll run away now before AJ hits me with the "Stop Spreading alternative Facts" ruler. :)

    Magic box is now official!!

ummm wasn't Sprint calling the Airave the "magic box" since 2007?

    What is that?

The Airave. A personal base station for the home. This time LTE.Although the webpage doesn't show the LTE version, just says 3G.

  7. This thread sure has been quiet lately, therefore let me ask the following,...

Recently, "Straight Path Communications" was being bid by AT&T last month to acquire it for its 28 GHz and 39 GHz millimeter wave spectrum, but a new bidder emerged which some are speculating is Verizon. The stock has soared through the roof. (rising 253.7 % in three months) But one analyst is stating it may be Softbank. In her analysis, she describes the reason why it may be Masa.

Even though all points seem to lead to Verizon being the secret bidder, I do find the idea interesting if it was Masa trying to acquire more spectrum.

    Any thoughts?

  8. Maybe John Legere met up with Charlie Ergen in Denver. Now traveling to Germany to meet with the DT CEO.

"traveling to Germany to meet with the DT CEO"? Maybe, maybe you are right, but I interpret Legeres' twitter post of "FAR to the east" as Far East and Germany isn't in the Far East. The part that throws me off is why would Son have Marcelo, Gunther and Legere together. Things that make you say hmmmm.
