  1. I just plan to keep my sero line until they force me off it. Even without subsidy its still the best deal out there.
  2. No just give credit where its due.
  3. Well I have to give it to Verizon. The guy came out in 0 degree weather with over a foot of snow on the ground and spent 8 hours hooking up my fiber connection. Speed tests show about 60mbps down and 30mbps up which is nice. Overall video quality is a bit better with fios but will take some time to get a good feel for performance. Hooking up a cablecard to the pc was fairly painless and so far have had no issues using the htpc as my dvr/set top box. If anyone is interested in using windows media center as their primary dvr/channel guide feel free to ask questions here.
  4. I was finally able to order my fios today Should be here Friday and my new htpc is ready to become a mega dvr. *** got a foot of snow today lets see how committed verizon is to hooking up my fiber.
  5. I'm pretty tired of people crying about sprint and empty promises. With NV they are delivering in a big way and is NOTHING like the wimax rollout which they had no control over. I also don't recall sprint promising wimax to anyone outside of announced markets. The most I heard was people saying their rep promised it was coming but we all know what that is worth.
  6. They would need to put out a press release of some kind before they make this type of change. At the very least we would see a leak of internal documentation. What exactly do you mean by 'according to sprint'? If its from a store or chat rep that means nothing.
  7. Maybe when we hook up with tmobile that will be possible ... but unlikely i'm sure.
  8. Really nothing is going to stop them from throttling everyone at some point if that's what it takes to keep the network going. They are not about to let things get as bad as they were before nv. I wouldn't be surprised if they started cracking down on tethering abusers in the near future.
  9. Like the dave said if people don't want to do their research its on them. Never ask the salesman which product is the best.... you should know the answer before walking in to the store.
  10. Not really much to add after reading 10 pages. Thanks to everyone for their input it really helps being able to look at the situation from all sides. I have always been for a tmo sprint merge and am happy to see that it still may happen. The best thing that could happen is to open up the n5 (g2, gs4, note3 etc) to use all tmo bands in addition to sprint. the tech is already here and vzw / att could not match that kind of flexibility.
  11. If I hadn't just spent 3k on other gadgets I'd be in
  12. No housing community here. They came by on Monday and hooked up the two dangling cables down by the main road. The splicing truck was back so hopefully we are getting close now.
  13. You can go back and forth all you want no problem.
  14. Wow they might as well shut down sprint tv at this point.
  15. Just flash the rooted .zip from xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557523 Quick and easy and does not flash a new modem.
  16. I didn't think my area had any 800 either but two days after changing prl I found some.
  17. Got a brief glimpse of 800 1x today here in Albany ny. I think this is the first sighting upstate? I'll be over by that area later today maybe I can hold it for a bit longer.
  18. I been checking everyday to see if I can sign up Down by the main road there are two cables dangling down that look like they need to be hooked up. I think they are going further down the road with the main line and then will come back and hook up the neighborhoods.
  19. I think this is left over from their original expansion agreement for this area. They started 3 yrs ago and never finished.
  20. Most of them are still trying to figure out 4.4 so I haven't messed with them yet. I usually stick with stock or cm as I don't like overly themed or half working roms.
  21. The fiber truck is moving closer It is a splicing truck. Not sure how it all works but I assume the fiber has been placed and it is connecting the lines together. This line will also run right past my 3g accepted sprint tower.
  22. Looking at pricing fios is not the bargain it once was but still slightly better then twc. $15 a month for a stb is going to bother me though.
  23. So for the last few months there have been lots of cable trucks running line up and down route 20 from Albany to Guilderland (New York). Oddly enough they stopped just past my neighborhood and now for the last couple weeks verizon has had trucks all over including up to three or four on my street at one time. One of the trucks about a mile down the road is clearly marked as fiber optic and appears to be monitoring the network install. They were hard at work past five last night which makes me think they are almost done. So if they are finally bringing fios to my area I guess I just need to know if there is any reason not to sign up on day one? Time Warner is very expensive but does provide a good service as long as you don't need any help from them. In a way I hate to give verizon any of my money but from what I have seen fios is a good deal and should be supported.
  24. tune in seems to be working ok... maybe try that one
  25. I thought someone posted instructions a few pages back how to get msl. chat worked fine for me first try.
