The article says, and shows a curved display on the Ultra.  It's not a deal breaker for me, but I would also like to see a flat screen.

It sure looks like a a big nothing burger for most, other than the external design stuff.  I'm more interested in the x60 model stuff, since I learned about it a while back.  NR CA, voice over NR, etc. I'm not sure that's enough for me to upgrade from the S20 Ultra, however.  I just don't know that there will be enough NR deployed (in my area) in the next year to make a significant difference over the S20U.

They seem to just be taking away features like the sd card slot and stuff, no value coming from my S20 Ultra.

Pretty sure I am.. The Ultra has been on the Tmo network since I bought it.. which as I am reading about, thats what TNX is right??

My moms phone, the LG G6,  has a better connection (band 41) and faster speed at this location, Then my Ultra does (band 2 on Tmo)

I have been running into these issues all over... It is mostly fine when on Band 66, or 71, but it drops to 2 or 12.. and it SUCKS.

So I am guessing I am on the TNX?? Right?  because it only sits on TMO sites

If you don't have a T-Mobile SIM card you only have the romahome service, and if you have TNX your phone will show the T-Mobile logo at boot up etc.

So sitting here at my mom's, doing some "techy"stuff lol.. and it dawned on me.. let's check the difference in phones and connectivity.. needless to say I hope things come together sooner than later.

LG g6, vs s20 ultra. I was on band 2 (just can't upload all 4 photos....

I wish they could just set the prl to grab what ever the best signal is for your area... Instead of parking you on Sprint or TMO, unless it's gone (true roaming type)

I know in the end it'll be better... But this is worse than the Sprint lte roll out. IMHO

Why don't you get TNX on your S20 Ultra?

Went to a T-Mobile store today and did the TNX SIM swap. Ran into an issue with my phone not getting any service after getting the SIM swapped and confirmed in the system. The lady helping me had to call some support number to try and figure out why my phone showed to be activated on T-Mo, but "no service" was showing on my phone. After doing some digging, apparently Sprint had not been updating my devices the last few years. Was told that my "current" device was an iPhone 6s. Now, I've done annual upgrades since then and always activated through Sprint's website with no apparent issues. Could this be related to why I would get intermittent service problems over the past few years? I would get random signal drops or cycles as if I had put the phone in Airplane Mode.

On a side note, the lady also stated that TNX allowed me access to more towers than using a Sprint Tower...is that true? Just got this today, so haven't had much of a chance to test known areas with bad service. Will be doing PoGo Community Day this weekend and the two parks I hit are places where I normally switch to 3G to avoid data drops, so can test it out and update.

Well yeah you get T-Mobile service now so you have access to all of their towers now.

OK I was moved to TNX on the iPhone 6s. Did a few speedtests. Most of them averaged around 10 down/5 up but then there was that 77 down/24 up that I got close to a site. The latency is pretty bad almost all above 100ms. The process itself was fast and painless.

I think it's time to move on a 6s is what 5 years old? I think you're limited by the modem in the phone at this point probably maxing out.

I am with "TRIP" on this one.  T-Mobile COULD have had good coverage in the Shentel area in the past. Shentel/Sprint was a competitor.  T-Mobile was not even trying to compete.  Service most places was horrible. Shentel almost always had twice the number of sites to cover an area while T-Mobile done it the cheap way. Shentel had a network that was even better then Sprints network elsewhere.  T-Mobile was not even competition. Just very very poor.

So, this is the reason I have no faith that T-Mobile will step up and do it right.  The Shentel network needs to be the base to build on.  Add T-Mobile spectrum to almost ALL of the Shentel sites.  What I hate is all the Shentel employees knew what they were doing and could be proud of it.  If T-Mobile trashes the Shentel network, all the employees will see many years of hard work disappear.

I hope the buyout price that T-Mobile has to pay is very high. It is a great network and it should bring  a premium price.

Well that's what they need to do, add T-Mobile to all of their sites boom problem avoided!

What was the speed difference? Just because you had 5 bars didn’t mean it will be a better experience. Isn’t it likely you were connected to multiple aggregated LTE bands including B71 that would likely have identical type coverage as SA 5g?

B71 wouldn't have the same coverage as SA n71 and I didn't do any speed tests I was just referencing the difference in signal strength but both were excellent for what I was doing. I was occasionally connecting to NSA 5G but the signal was equivalent to LTE.

Set up a family member's new iPhone 12 Pro for them yesterday. Still waiting on mine and one other one to ship....

I left it set it to "5G Auto" and enabled "Allow More Data on 5G".

Plugged it into their CarPlay for their vehicle and took a trip from Bethesda into DC. It seemed to hold onto strong 5G coverage very well. I didn't run any speed tests on it, but voice quality was very good.

One thing I did notice is that it still says "Sprint Wi-Fi" for Wi-Fi Calling. I figured it would say T-Mobile for these new devices, but perhaps that hasn't been migrated over yet?

Is the iPhone 12 using an R15 T-Mobile sim?
