I haven't had time to do a detailed comparison of photos from my V40 to the V50, but the photos have examined recently definitely seem sharper. I wonder if they have fixed the over-processing that they've been guilty of in the past.

Did you get my PM?
Send me a PM with your Google account email. Please send a diagnostic report when connected to 5G too. Disappointed to see it doesn't work in your screenshot, I thought I had the basics in there to at least show it as 5G up top.. hopefully I'm close!

I was driving, so I barely had time to glance down and hit go once in a while. I wasn't paying attention to SCP when I stopped and ran a stationary test. I'll check again this weekend.Interesting. Did you notice if the RSRP and GCI values were updating as you moved around? I'm wondering if it's actually showing 5G info or just still showing the last LTE info it had.- 1

This was from the other day doing speed tests in different parts of downtown KC using an LG V50.Can you post a screenshot? I'm just curious to see what it shows on 5G.- 1

Do you need beta testers for 5G devices in launched markets? 5G shows as 2.5 LTE. I tried searching the thread, but it's quite long.

VoLTE active on the LG V50. KC market.

This is true. But slightly better. To be fair Long Term Evolution wasn't a great name either...Now if only I can find some 5G coverage to put some info on that engineering screen.

I know, but NR is a really dumb name though. It means nothing without context. What will they call the next one? New New Radio? LOL [emoji848]NR is the technical name for 5G. Think WCDMA/UMTS or EVDO for 3G.

Yes. It's labeled NR Engineering (New Radio). I don't think that's a Sprint thing, at least I hope not.Is there a 5G engineering screen?!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got a V50 today, and VoLTE is enabled and active. I'm slightly outside of 5G coverage, so I haven't been able to test that yet.I wonder if VoLTE will be active since it will have Pie on it

It seems like this phone was a bit of a mistake - or at least not waiting a couple months to buy it after the price went down. I do wish it was smaller, but I manage the size. But with the early launch of the V50 so soon after buying it, I kinda feel like a chump. I'm not even convinced they'll bother upgrading it to Android 9, given their terrible update track record. Oh well.

Tapatalk has been much faster on this site the last few days. Was there a change made, or was it an app update?

Did you just get it a few days ago? I remember you posting in the Galaxy S9/9+ thread recently. You should post your thoughts on it in the V40 thread.

That's crazy! [emoji54]Walking by the USDA today, I noticed a panel attached to the building, which I later determined to be a Verizon small cell.

Don't see it? Here's a close-up.

Not exactly where I would mount an antenna...

Strange. Not a Pixel, but none of my Nexus devices (5 and 5X) ever gave me any trouble switching between Sprint and my Tracfone or T-Mobile prepaid SIMs. I would think it not possible for an unlocked device to get locked to the Sprint network. But that is probably a gross oversimplification.
Wait, are you saying it's still activated on Sprint? Like on an active line? That I could see being a problem, particularly with Fi since they also use the Sprint network in addition to T-Mobile. I do believe I did a SIM swap as a test with my Nexus 5X when it was still active on my Sprint line though.

I just happened to see that the V40 has Quick charge 4.0 and quick wireless charging enabled. First LG device with those specs I think. Have you been able to try that out?
I just tried my son's RAVpower fast wireless charger, and it didn't show fast wireless charging on the screen like it does on his S9+. Don't know if it is just not compatible with that charger or not supported. What should the charging rate be? The highest I saw in Accubattery was about 700mA. -
This is by far the slowest loading forum I have in Tapatalk, though XDA isn't far behind. Sometimes the topics list won't load at all for me. I've never tried clearing the app cache. Posting seems normal though.I haven't been blocked for a long time now. Seems that problem is fixed. But it takes foreeeeeverrrrr for Tapatalk to update it's cache from S4GRU when launching the app and opening the site. Anyone else see this?
... I can help get it going a bit faster if I force close the app and clear it's cache before launching.

Update regarding RF performance. Over the weekend I was in a location with known poor coverage. We have 3 new phones - iPhone XS, XS Max, and LG V40. The iPhones had no trouble picking up a usable LTE signal inside, but the V40 would only connect to an 800MHz CDMA signal, and the data was barely usable. Similar to previous experience there, I had to go outside to pick up the LTE signal. Given that the iPhones were able to use LTE, it was disappointing that the V40 couldn't. Even though it wasn't any worse, it also was not any better. I didn't know if there was a way to see what band of LTE the iPhones were using, so I am not sure what they were using. When I would occasionally roam in the house, it was usually reported as US Cellular, band 12 I believe, by signal check pro, and worked pretty well.

I don't think so. The bundled charger is just labeled fast charge, and my Qi charger is a couple of years old, so it is probably pretty slow.I just happened to see that the V40 has Quick charge 4.0 and quick wireless charging enabled. First LG device with those specs I think. Have you been able to try that out?
We should hopefully have VoLTE replace calling plus in the next couple months b -

Something else I forgot to mention, the V40 is enabled for calling plus on LTE and wifi, and it has been working very well so far. I usually keep it disabled for WiFi, since my WiFi is a bit weak in some parts of my house.
