I inadvertently bought a 16GB N5 last week that, as far as I know, has only been used on Sprint. I had the same experience with it - SMS and MMS worked fine on 5.1.1 but broke as soon as I updated it to 6.0.1. I explored one more possibility, by flashing the baseband from 5.1.1 over the 6.0.1 version. At first it seemed promising, but after switching back to my main N5 and doing the same thing, I still had issues with SMS and MMS, almost immediately. I cleared the cache partition last night and so far today it has been fine, but I'm not confident. If it happens again, I'll restore my 5.1.1 backup again and give up on 6.0.1. Slightly more out of date doesn't seem any worse off than just out of date. :/

I have never had a problem getting blocked or not being able to access content, but to be honest, I can't tell what's private and what's not, so I'm sure I'm missing out. [emoji4] My only complaint is that the subscribed topics haven't been in the right order since the Tapatalk plug-in was updated. Older stuff appears well before later stuff. Really it almost seems completely random, with dates all over the place, but I'm sure there is some reason for the dates being un-sorted.
Edit: I just noticed I can view threads on the sponsor and premiere sponsor forums.. those are protected, right? I'm using Tapatalk Pro.

LOL I totally forgot I donated! I got the message and thought it was a mistake. (Granted it was two weeks ago..) So I checked PayPal, and sure enough, there it is. Man, I'm working too hard!

Oh, I don't normally install updates and since it was a few years old I just figured it was way outdated - my bad.
No problem. I am rolling back to 5.1.1 and restoring the backup I made yesterday. I may try the 6.0.1 update with no monthlies, or just stay on 5 for a while.. It has been working fine for me.

That IS the last update unfortunately. Well, I had two updates that were both marked Oct 5, 2016..maybe you're still on the first one? Thanks again for the update. I haven't had a bad text for about 10 days or so.I'm still behind on updates. Currently on the Oct 5, 2016 update. (Yes I know)

About 24 hours on 6.0.1 and I just started having issues. Updating profile in network settings fixed for now... Same old same old. I wonder if it broke immediately on 6.0.1 it if one of the monthly updates did it..

Let the vertical integration begin! /S

It has now been a few hours short of one week with no issues. Considering I'd never gone more than 24 hours before, I'm calling it a success. Going to update to 6.0.1 and see what happens.

Approaching three full days without issues. I activated it Tuesday evening. I'm going to keep going as long as it keeps working.

I'm probably going to jinx it by posting this.. been on the N5 with Lollipop for about 36 hrs without experiencing SMS or MMS issues. Knock on wood... [emoji267]

Thanks. I flashed one of mine with the last Lollipop build, since I've already tested both of them on Marshmallow and had problems. Maybe reflashing the modem will do it good. :/

I had my Nexus 5 activated a couple of weeks ago while LG had my phone for repair and I didn't notice any SMS or MMS problems.

Glad to hear something recent. Is yours a "Sprint" model (yes I realize they're technically all the same) or a Google Play model? There shouldn't be a difference, but I'm doing what I can to narrow it down.

I did, but I don't see the KEYone on the community page it links to, or in the latest comments. I remember a statement that WiFi calling would be enabled in a future software update, but until it happens, I'm skeptical.Haha. Did you see the embedded link?Sent from my BBB100-3 using Tapatalk

KeyONE is getting it. That’s what you were referring to.
I didn't see it on the page. Am I blind or just crazy? Wait, don't answer that!

Is this the answer saying KEYone is not getting it, but Essential is? I can't remember which phone I was referring to. BTW who wants to buy me an Essential phone to play with? I used my upgrade on the KEYone. I want all the phones. We have an answer!Sent from my BBB100-3 using Tapatalk

Speaking for my devices, the problem is independent of the default messaging app. I mainly use Android Messages and Textra. In fact I reloaded the last factory image and used it stock to prove it wasn't any app or update.

I feel like I'm necro'ing this thread, but it's a device question.. Is anyone still using an N5 on Sprint and not having problems with SMS and MMS? I bought two off ebay, in good condition, and that work perfectly on Tracfone (AT&T), but on Sprint, SMS and MMS will stop working multiple times per day - some days it might be one time, or maybe a few hours apart, but sometimes as frequently as every 15 minutes! I really like the N5 and would happily use them as my daily driver, but I can't put up with that problem. Sprint support of course has no idea why it's happening. I've factory reset, reinstalled the latest factory image, all updates installed. I've reset network settings, which fixes it for a few minutes usually, but only a full reboot fixes it until the next time. I have a hard time believing I have two phones that have the exact same problem on Sprint but work perfectly on TF.

So I've been using a Nexus 5 (yeah I know a bit old) and it's worked great. I read here about others with newer smartphones getting voice calling plus (or whatever it was called) and calls started on wifi but then handing over to the LTE network and they could get voice and data at the same time. Obviously it's not VoLTE in it's final form but better than nothing and at least it's a start in the right direction.
So what I'm wondering is how will this affect us with older phones? I mean I understand that my Nexus 5 would have VoLTE on any other carrier but if Sprint finally runs with VoLTE will it cover all (or at least "most") phones. or will all of us have to run out and get the latest Samsung Galaxy Sx or LG Gx models etc?
I mean is VoLTE a general spec and all phones that support it once the carrier support it will work fine? or is it pretty much carrier to carrier how they roll their only hybrid version of it?
Wait - you're using a Nexus 5 on Sprint? Does your SMS and MMS ever stop working, requiring a reboot to fix it? I don't want to hijack your thread, so I won't post details, but I've tried everything. Sounds similar to the issue I have when I use my Nexus 5 (both of them, same issue) on Sprint. I am not sure if making a call fixes the issue on the N5 or not, but toggling airplane mode does not. I have to update network settings or reboot.Sprint has been able to reproduce an SMS/MMS issue with the device that people have been reporting having:

I see nothing disturbing in that article. Are you privy to details that make it disturbing? Violation of company policy on relationships, if it was not a harassment situation, is not really much different than violating any other company policy.Wow....that’s disturbing.Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

They need a lot of help!

When I had AT&T, you could stream while on their provided WiFi service. When I added my own router because their's sucked, it didn't work. That could be different now. I didn't realize Google Fiber didn't let you stream it even in your own home. That is a little frustrating.
Yep. You can stream most* TV channels live while on WiFi, but can't stream recordings from those channels from the DVR.
*I think it's mainly some of the premium sports channels that are restricted. I don't have any premium movie channels, so those could be restricted also.
