  1. I REALLY wish they would install at least eCSFB at RDU. Just driving by the airport on 540 drops you from an excellent band 25 signal straight to 3G. And then it takes almost my entire ride to work struggling with streaming radio on 3G before the LTE scan timer kicks in and puts me back on LTE. My commute takes me this way twice a day and toggling airplane mode right there is getting to be a pain You would think they would want every band possible at the airport for travelers, hell it was one of the first sites in the area with WiMAX back in the day and I often get some of the best and fastest signals at other airports around the country, and here RDU is after all this time still on legacy 3G equipment.
  2. By the time any merger closes, if it even happens, and plans and such are made, the Nexus 5 will be but a distant memory. We're talking 2+ years in the future.
  3. 1x800 on up by Brier Creek now. Finally unplugged the airrave!
  4. Mike, Would it be possible to add the current LTE band to the notification bar as an option? Maybe a big 25,26, or 41 next to the current notification when LTE is connected? Or even changing the current "LTE/ -XX" dBm notification to "LTE41/-XX" dBm or something like that? Also, are b26 and b41 alerts an option like our current 1x800 alerts?
  5. Ding Ding Ding. .15 was great, but a lot of people did not use it due to eCSFB issues. But those that did use it are likely disappointed with .13 Those that were on .23, like myself, and upgraded to .13, see about the same performance on b25 and now have the addition of b41. I've had suuuuper smooth handoffs to b41 and back in areas I did not know it existed, there is no b26 in my area to test yet, though. I'm happy.
  6. Connected to Band 41 for the first time today on an old WiMax site. Unfortunately I was not impressed with the speed or range, probably a half mile and 11.5 down, 1.2 up with full bars. Could be that this is an old site and was never configured properly or never got good backhaul, but honestly the Band 25 over a mile away would've been better.
  7. MX Player always does this, they have a hard-coded list of strings of android versions that they support, and it always takes them weeks to add the new one. Dumbest system ever.
  8. It is likely dropping 3G to scan for LTE. Put it in 3G only mode and see if you still get the dropouts. This will likely not be fixed with the update as the single-path radio is physically unable to scan for LTE while keeping a 3G signal.
  9. There is also an xposed module to make that show in the status bar on the right. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  10. If you forced LTE Only it should not have fallen back to 3G, even after an airplane toggle. If it lost LTE signal it would show no bars at all. That doesn't make sense. Sure you enabled LTE only in the right place?
  11. I have missed call email alerts turned on. That way in the rare case my phone does not ring (I'd say 1-2% of the time) I instantly get an email on my phone that I had a missed call and I can call the person back.
  12. lol no one in customer service would know anything about this update. Most of them barely know what "spark" is. Their job is "thank you for your concern, I will do everything I can to get this to the right people so your voice is heard" (and then throws it in the trash) and move on to the next caller. The update will probably be in 4.4.3, if not there is probably some problem holding it up and it may never come. If so, and if spark is that important to you in your area, just sell the N5 and grab a new phone that is spark enabled out of the box. That easy.
  13. What would make you think that? When the last N5 update (4.4.2) was released, Spark was virtually non-existent in all markets. 4.4.3 will be the first update that Spark support COULD be included in since Spark has become more widespread across the country. Google would never release an update just for Spark, so it had to wait until the next update to be included. Now, if Spark support is not included in 4.4.3 then you have a case a could be right, but right now you have no reason to think that. It's not like Google has released update after update past Q1 2014 (the time frame given for when the N5 would probably get a Spark update) where Spark wasn't included, 4.4.3 will be the FIRST update since then.
  14. I thought eHRPD was turned off in markets with eCSFB issues to allow those with N5's, G2's, etc to connect to LTE before the market was 100% complete? At least, this is EXACTLY what happened in Raleigh, down to the day. The day I first got LTE on my N5, was the last day I saw eHRPD in Raleigh.
  15. No, No 4G yet. If you look at Charlotte, they didnt flip the "eCSFB fix" switch until all but 2 towers (yes two) were upgraded with at least 3G. So I'm betting we still have a little while. Great to see so much progress in Raleigh though, they are definitely trying the last week or so, and im betting it's a primary focus for them now. I've seen lots of tower climbers all down 40 and in RTP this past week. As soon as you hit Wilson traveling east though, the Nexus 5 switches to LTE and behaves normally, picking up LTE where available, all the way to the coast.
  16. If this was the case, you would assume they would put the 4.4 radio in the 4.4.2 update to roll everyone back. But who knows.
  17. Which radio? Do you have the 4.4 or 4.4.1 radio? There is no new radio in 4.4.2
  18. I just DLed the OTA on my laptop. There is a new /system/framework/telephony-common.jar No new radio image. But maybe there was a bug between the two and the new radio needed a new telephony framework to get proper signal? Who knows, I'll wait until it is pushed to my phone. Anyone reporting signal strength on 4.4.2, please specify whether you are using the 4.4 radio image or the 4.4.1 radio image.
  19. How is the signal for anyone that has 4.4.2? I have not gotten the update yet.
  20. They no longer require a signature? My girlfriend couldn't even sign for my N5 (she answered the door), the UPS guy said Google had requested that only the person stated on the label could sign or it was going to be returned to sender?
  21. I seemed to be dropping data on every hand off yesterday afternoon through RTP and N Raleigh. Only an airplane toggle would bring my data back. I was hoping this may mean they were doing work to enable eCSFB, but still no 3G/4G sites in the area, so my N5 is still stuck on 3G
  22. I think the magnet issue could be because of your case? Most video reviews show that the charger will actually hold the phone while you swing the charger around and even upside down. But any type of case will definitely diminish the strength of the magnets.
  23. I believe it defaults back to Global after a reboot anyway. I know it does after a profile update. Global is fine and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
