Whoa, has anybody seen the new "yellow" Sprint coverage map.
In Cleveland at least, there seems to be less "LTE Plus" coverage.

You guys aren't seeing this behavior are you?
That's for Verizon's Note5 update, and I checked my wife's Sprint S6 updated phone, I don't think she's seeing it the best I could tell.
I have the update on my GS6. The battery seems to be draining at about the same rate or maybe a LITTLE faster.
I'm not having any lag issues though.
-
It also looks like they removed the wifi "connection optimizer" functionality.

I'm happy as well. But still too much talk and no perceived action.

Yes, I also agree with that. Let's see something...

I see the option in there for it and I have it checked. But I haven't purchased (nor do I plan to) anything to test it out.

I'm happy about this, Sprint saying they are focusing on small cells and densification: http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprint-focus-small-cells-and-25-ghz-spectrum-prepare-5g/2016-03-10?utm_medium=rss&utm_source=feedly&utm_campaign=rss

I thought Google said that they couldn't take it out...

Actually, I think I found it. It's not called Doze but it's under battery optimization.

So it looks like Samsung took out the Doze option in this update?

I did a check for the update and it's downloading now.

Softbank will bid in the upcoming spectrum auction - sources
07:01 AM ET • S • SA Eli Hoffmann
Sources say SoftBank is rumored to be participating in the upcoming auction of broadcast spectrum to wireless carriers.
SoftBank might acquire the spectrum by setting up a new company, which later sells or swaps it as it sees fit.
SoftBank said on March 7 it would split into two companies, one managing SoftBank’s Japanese media and telecom businesses, and one managing overseas operations like Sprint and Alibaba. It's unclear if either of these companies or another entity would purchase spectrum.
The move could be a way to acquire low bandwidth spectrum for Sprint (NYSE:S), which lags competitors in ownership of lower bandwidth spectrum.

Well there is goes Tmobile plan to grab all reserved spectrum
Edit
This is a rumor but if it's turn out to be true, this might give Sprint a, huge boots.
Isn't it too late for them to register to participate now?

Looks like T-Mobile's coverage map is going to get a little more LTE coverage this year: http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/t-mobile-well-cover-30m-40m-new-pops-year/2016-03-03?utm_medium=rss&utm_source=feedly&utm_campaign=rss

Has anybody else noticed that the Sprint coverage map no longer shows the current date under it? For me (at least), it now says "Coverage updated on: 1/10/16"
-
And that is how wireless service should work. You can enter or leave at will. Sprint can raise or lower prices at will.
For an analogy, I do not have a two year contract for $1.57/gal gas -- though I would accept that offer without hesitation. My favorite restaurant can increase the price of my favorite dish. Costs and prices fluctuate.
If you do not like it, tough nuts. Go find a less expensive alternative. Or tell people to stop using so much "unlimited" data. Because that "unlimited" data usage is going through the roof and becoming more expensive to support at the CAPEX level.

Yes, this is the new non-contract world.

Yeah, i used to keep insurance on my phone faithfully every year for years then one day I realized that I hadn't used my insurance since the touch pro 1, so year I basically gave sprint hundreds of dollars over those years for nothing. So I would rather spend the 75 if I have too versus spending hundreds and not have too.
Is that $75 documented anywhere (on their website)? Or is that just what you have experienced with your phone issues?
-
Well if you don't have the sprint replacement coverage they will replace the device for $75 which isn't that bad of a deal. Either way I don't keep a phone longer than a year anyway.
I didn't know about the $75, no insurance option. That's cool.
And wow, I thought I was bad with a phone every 2 yrs.
-
Thats what warranties are for.
Only if it happens in the first year. :-)

Anybody that has the GS6 going to try to get the GS7? If so, how are you going about it (since the GS6 just came out last year and you are probably still on a contract/lease/installment plan)?
I leased my GS6 in Dec, when they had that Xmas lease special.
-
Samsung released 6.0 Marshmallow for S6 today. Curious to see how long it will take for Sprint S6's to get the update.
Probably another month or so. Sprint has to go through its rounds of tests/approvals.

I think one thing is going unnoticed with this new pricing. The price for 1 line is going up again to $75 from $70.
Yep, according to their website, the price for a single unlimited plan is now $75
-
So current customers can switch to this plan?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I just did. I wasn't technically under a "contract" anymore since I started leasing my phone in December. My contract (with my old phone) was suppose to end in July.

But a price decrease if you have 4 lines... relative to the 2 Unlimited Lines for $100/month and each additional line for $40 Plan. Four lines on that plan was $180/month and no hotspot.
Four lines on this new plan is $150/month with 3 GB hotspot. In fact, you can get another line for $30/month... so five lines for the old price for four.
Yes, it is a price decrease for 4 lines.
-
Oh, I didn't realize the plan already included it. So I guess it is a straight price increase then.
I actually just changed to it. I had the old $80 450 plan (I also am on a lease). I want to get the $70 price before it changes.
-
Yeah, I noticed they didn't list the price of the single line in the bulleted list at the beginning of the press release; they just listed "lowest price among all national carriers for a single line." Sprint probably doesn't want to highlight the fact that they're raising the price of a single line for the second time in about four months, At least they're adding 3GB of hotspot this time, which basically offsets the extra $5.
The 3GB hotspot is on the $70 plan now.

Not bad and 3GB of hotspot thrown in.
