Like this one? http://www.technobuffalo.com/2014/07/24/sprint-holding-surprise-press-event-on-august-19/
Lol...I really am excited to see what Sprint announced today. Marcelo has been VERY active on twitter the last several days.
Exactly.

My phone picked up a second B41 carrier (thru Signal Check Pro) today.

I hope it's good but we will see
Me too. It BETTER be good with all this hype.

Half off of all of their plans until Black Friday?! And you can keep that price as long as you're on the plan?
-
If this situation comes again in February, there are several arguments that can be made from the Sprint point of view:
Would a judge rule that Apple has to continue to support the first iPhone? No, it is old technology and it is not economically feasible to continue to support.
Would a judge rule that Microsoft has to continue support of Windows 95? No, there is better Operating Systems that will make the process much easier (at times it is frustrating though).
Would a judge rule that Ford needs regress the safety standards of new vehicles to the standards of vehicles built in the 1970's? No, Safety standards in 2015 are leaps and bounds ahead of 40 years ago.
The same common sense thought process needs to apply to WiMax. Are there people still using it? (as in all the examples listed above and WiMax). Yes. Has the improvement in technology with LTE made or making a better experience for all with Sprint? Yes. Should Sprint be forced to continue to support something that is old technology, I still have to say no. You need to keep up with the times.
Oh, I ABSOLUTELY agree with you. I think they should have been allowed to shut it down already, given how long of a notice they gave everybody.
But they were stopped once, it can happen again.
-
I truly hope that Sprint does not cave in. They need to draw the line and turn it off in February. Other groups that participated with WiMax moved to the new technology so it is not that difficult. MB/MC needs to stop dragging their feet. The rest of the Sprint population that pays for their service suffers for less than 1% of the population that is not even paying for it.
I am sorry if this is a soapbox moment but you cannot continue to patch something that is a dinosaur. Dinosaurs are extinct, just as WiMax should be.
They might not have a choice, like for this current extension.

Let's just hope that when though who signed up were told by the reps that the line fees were waved for x amount of months.

I thought that fee was waived for as long as you stay on the plan?

Did anyone receive a text about receiving a free year of amazon prime if they buy a new Samsung phone?
I didn't receive a text msg, but I did read this article.

How even!!!??? B41 doesn't even go a mile here in Seattle!
Yeah, it doesn't travel that far here either.

Interesting, the SG6 and SG6 Edge just got an update and it's also OJ7: http://support.sprint.com/support/article/Find-and-update-the-software-version-on-your-Samsung-Galaxy-S-6/WServiceAdvisory_542_GKB85263-dvc8870001prd?INTNAV=SU:DP:OV:UG:SamsungGalaxyS632gb:FindAndUpdateTheSoftwareVersionOnYourSamsungGalaxy#!/

Does this give a hint on how Sprint plans on carrying out network densification? I'm speaking network wise, not cutting yogurt out and Uber rides for execs. .
Ha, that is a very poorly written article. It takes selective quotes from the FCC filing, out of context, to make Sprint seem like a bad guy.
I read this article and it feels like the writer came into the article not liking Sprint.

Makes sense. So what's the point of USCC being mum about it?
In this article, Sprint didn't name all of its LTE Roaming Partners. Perhaps USCC was one of the unnamed ones?
Yeah, that's what I don't get. Why the secrecy, on both sides, if it is Sprint/USCC?

I think there needs to be a definition for "unlimited data" defined somewhere. When I hear "unlimited data", I think there's no limit to how much data you can use. I don't think speed is part of the "unlimited data" definition.
-
After looking at the new plans, there is one 8gb for $70 but what's the difference between that one and the unlimited $70 besides the 2g drop on the 8gb option? It seems like that's a redundant plan option. I don't see someone who would choose the 8gb option when you can get the full blown unlimited for the same price minus the speed drop.

And it's really $85, when you add the access charge.

I just want to make sure I'm getting this correctly. So the tower will balance everyone on 2 B25 carriers and 1 B26 carrier if it has it. So the top speeds will still be the same but each carrier will have less congestion? Does sprint plan on doing any B25-B25 carrier aggression and are there any phone compatible of doing that?
I don't think there are any phones that are capable of doing B25 or B26 CA. Only B41.

Does anybody know if Sprint's LTE network covers 300 Million POPS yet?

With Sprint spending over $500M/year on Verizon roaming charges, wouldn't it be cheaper to just build out the network in the problem areas?
With 800Mhz nationwide, there really is not a reason Sprint shouldn't be able to do this.
Where are you getting $500M/yr?

If skipping EVDO allows them to do another carrier of LTE or a 10x10 carrier, then that might be a good move. However, in most instances it will not. And then they might as well.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Can they do 1X without EVDO? Or do 1X and EVDO come together?

It's funny but as someone who has used Sprint for over 14 years, I never came across a time where I needed sim-voice/data. Perhaps its my usage, but for those who have been around for a while, it's not like we expected it to come eventually.
Same here. I've never needed simultaneous voice/data. I've been with Sprint for about 10 yrs.

That's everyone except BYOD, oh wait, those people will get it too!
I use 20+gb a month through Netflix at my work. Easily. And the App Store. I don't abuse anything, they TOLD me I had no limits, I don't have wifi at work, so I casually watch movies and listen to music when I want, all through legal means, and it just happens to exceed the arbitrary 23gb cap.
This doesn't bother you? That we're supposed to be looking forward to 5g, the 'Next Generation Network', higher definition video, VR gaming, etc. and the 2 unlimited carriers supposedly ushering in this revolution are shutting down people who choose them specifically for unlimited data? At a time when Sprint is begging for customers, they say 'everyone but you'. Beggars apparently can be choosers.
Is your job to watch Netflix?! :-)

I'm blown away by how tame the reception of deprioritization is. Unlimited is the reason I've stayed with Sprint for as long as I have; that and they were the least expensive. Now that they've upped the price of unlimited and imposed the same data cap T-Mobile has, there's doesn't seem to be a compelling reason to stay with Sprint vs. T-Mobile now, or even AT&T and Verizon, as their caps approach Sprint and T-Mobile.
Why the hell would I pay for unlimited if I don't get unlimited? If it's capped at 23gb, just SAY 23gb. And don't give me that B.S. about 'it's still unlimited', it's the exact same crap MetroPCS has been pulling for years; 'unlimited data' for $30 a month!
This is outrageous. I thought the network was getting better? What about all that capacity? Why am I getting less water when the pipe is getting bigger?
It depends on what your definition of "unlimited" is. :-)

I was pretty shocked when I heard how much data roaming costs carriers. I certainly think it's gouging and therefore I don't think data roaming really ought to be included, or else go back to charging roaming. Obviously give customers a choice in the matter ahead of time and be clearly upfront about it, so there isn't any bill shock. Perhaps even shut it off completely, then offer roaming packages, rather than overages.
Either way, I really don't see how it should be offered inclusive as it is, all things considered.
How much DOES data roaming cost carriers?

Sprint's new $70/month Unlimited Plan includes 3 GB of tethering and has a 23 GB usage threshold at which de-prioritization applies.
Full Details Here: http://support.sprint.com/support/article/FAQs_about_Sprint_60_Unlimited_Plan/e8bc59f3-1893-4482-895a-38b7ed69ab65#!/
Sprint's new Unlimited Family pricing is $70/month for first line and $60/month for lines 2-5.
EDIT: Per the FAQ you can have up to 10 lines on this plan. Perhaps the website only supports ordering a max of 5 lines?
I'm totally fine with a 23GB threshold to de-prioritize ONLY in congested areas. That sounds more than reasonable to me.
I also like the 3GB of tethering. Wish it would have stayed at $60, but you can't have everything. :-)
