I assume the upcoming LTE phones like the Note 3, LG G2, Nexus 5 would be supporting the CSIM? How do you know that the SIM card authentication system or the SIM card is CSIM based now vs. USIM based? Do you work at a Sprint store? I understand that the earlier LTE phones like the GS4, HTC One, etc would not be supported.

US/Mexico 800 MHz reband plan going to take 30 months??
ericdabbs replied to ericdabbs's topic in General Topics
I am curious of your opinion AJ...does this 800 MHz band plan reconfiguration when it is finally complete allow for Sprint to finally deploy LTE and CDMA at 800 MHz in the Mexico IBEZ markets? I assume the allowable configurations would be a 3x3 LTE and a CDMA carrier since the shared block is only 5.5 x 5.5 MHz? I have to think that Sprint wouldn't sign up for this especially if they have to pay the licensees to relocate to the proper location on the band if the end result was not able to use LTE and CDMA at the ESMR band. -

HTC One max [Tri-Band] (was "HTC "Phablet" aka "T6"")

Watch the same folks who praise the S800 now come back a year from now and trash the S800 for it being a dinosaur even though its not. -
The Verge complaints are mostly about the design of the phone which is with the back buttons and plastic feel and the software. I get it that since its a totally new idea to have the back buttons its going to take some time to get used to it although I think giving it a 6 is rather harsh given that a lot of other reviews I read don't have a huge issue with the back buttons. Also the plastic feel is an old worn out complaint because you can just put a case and you don't have to deal with the plastic but I know tech bloggers never like to use cases so of course they are always going to deal with the plastic. Samsung even tried to put the faux leather on the Note 3 and the Verge still wasn't impressed since its still technically plastic with some fake stitching with faux leather. In terms of the software, there will always be room for improvements but from my observations and with playing around with the G2, I don't see how the software is that much more dramatically different than Touchwiz and didn't have any major complaints about the software. Also the Gizmodo review is garbage. I couldn't have read a more poorly written review that goes against the grain of every aspect of the other G2 reviews I have read. If you read the comments, all of them are ripping the author for this poorly written review. The review was totally biased towards the software with just some annoying little things about the software such as the default alarm clock ringtone and the button placement? I mean seriously..i know the alarm ringtone is kinda weird but it shouldn't be a big deal and just change it to something else. I am surprise he didn't rip on the default notification sound which is the Vienna boys choir chanting "Life is Good". I have learned to accept that LG and Samsung borrow/copy features off of each other so it doesn't matter to me. Obviously this author has a hard time adapting to change especially with the power and volume button placement and to call the LG G2 the most frustrating phone to review in the last 2 years is rather shocking. I wouldn't trust any of his future or past reviews on smartphones.

Why not just test it out at the AT&T store? The AT&T, Tmobile and Sprint variant are all the same which is the international model variant. So waiting until the Sprint version comes out isn't going to be much of a difference at all. This way you can decide if its all that you expected. The 5-6 week wait seems sooooo long especially when Tmobile is going to get the G2 next week.

US/Mexico 800 MHz reband plan going to take 30 months??

It is the panel that supports 806-869 MHz for sure. Not sure about the RRU but it might only support the ESMR band. I can't remember. -
US/Mexico 800 MHz reband plan going to take 30 months??
ericdabbs replied to ericdabbs's topic in General Topics
Why would Sprint sign off on this if it meant that they couldn't use the U.S.-Mexico shared block? It says in the FCC document that current licenses would submit a cost estimate to Sprint so I assume that Sprint will be paying for licensees to relocate to another portion of the band. I am hoping this presents some good news because it would suck if the 800 MHz could never be used. If the 800 MHz can't be used then Sprint definitely needs to focus on obtaining some 600 MHz spectrum to fill in the gaps for low band spectrum in the Canada and Mexico IBEZ markets. -
LG G2 service manuals have been posted and it has the Sprint variant (LS980). If you download the PDF file and go to pg. 6, it confirms the B25, B26, B41 LTE support. Not that we weren't confident about it but just more proof that it is triband LTE. . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437403

Who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if it was or wasn't.

The Verizon/AT&T 700 MHz B block deal is done and is complete. I didn't hear of any FCC objections to this deal since it was announced back in Jan 2013. The FCC can't fault Verizon since Verizon promised to sell their 700 MHz A and B spectrum blocks as a concession to obtain the SpectrumCo nearly nationwide AWS licenses. This is great news for ATT because they desperately needed more 700 MHz spectrum in large markets especially Los Angeles and Chicago which they only could deploy a 5x5 LTE carrier previously. Now ATT can deploy a 10x10 LTE carrier to be on par with Verizon at 700 MHz. http://www.fiercebroadbandwireless.com/story/att-verizon-close-19b-700-mhz-b-block-spectrum-deal/2013-09-10 ATT press release http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=24783&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=36982&mapcode=consumer|financial Verizon press release http://news.verizonwireless.com/news/2013/09/att-spectrum-sale-completion.html "The Federal Communications Commission approved the spectrum license transfers on September 3rd."

I look forward to the LG G2. The Mopho 4G I believe is a Pentile display and the Tegra 2 chip doesn't support HD video on Youtube. I am very impressed with the IPS full HD display on the LG G2. It looks beautiful and the great thing I read about IPS displays is that they don't suffer from brightness issues in daylight unlike Super AMOLED displays.

Since the announcement of the new US/Mexico 800 MHz reband plan as shown in the pic below, the FCC has made an announcement for the 800 MHz band reconfiguration to begin on August 23, 2013 and end on February 23, 2016. What is disappointing is that this 800 MHz band reconfiguration effort will take 30 months!!!! Well at least we know now that the 800 MHz band along Mexico is in the process of being freed up so that markets like San Diego, Tucson, and the south parts of Orange County in 2016 will be able to use CDMA and LTE at 800 MHz. From the new 800 MHz band plan it appears that 5.5 x 5.5 MHz will be freed up in the ESMR band which means that these markets will likely see a 1x CDMA carrier and a 3x3 LTE carrier. Hopefully Sprint is working with the FCC and Canada to work out a 800 MHz band plan so that Sprint can use 800 MHz there for CDMA and LTE. http://www.fcc.gov/document/commencement-800-mhz-band-reconfiguration-along-mexico-border

I guess you as well is praying to the frequency fairy just like Terrell352 is for triband LTE on the Note 3. Good luck.

HTC One max [Tri-Band] (was "HTC "Phablet" aka "T6"")
ericdabbs replied to themuffinman's topic in HTC
I think for most of us on this forum the triband LTE is more important than whether it is a Snapdragon 800 or not. I think if the HTC One Max turns out to be triband LTE but with a snapdragon 600, people will be disappointed but they will still buy it. I mean the Snapdragon 600 chip is still not too shabby and should be relevant for the next 2 years.
