  1. I don't know personally of anyone that has had their iPhone 5 or 5S get bent like it has been described but I wouldn't say the story is made up though. Phones should not bend period!!! To your point about tech blogs being biased towards Android...I respectfully disagree. Most tech websites if anything seem to be biased towards Apple like they never do anything wrong. Here are a few examples of blatant biased. When the HTC One and LG G2 came out, they both got ripped for not having removable batteries or lack of SD card slots as a negative as if the phone is not worth buying but the iPhone does not have removable batteries or SD card slot and is anointed as the jebus phone. Also when iPhone finally came out with the plastic back feel with the iPhone 5C tech blog but yet tech blogs give it a pass as if its not a big deal but when Samsung or LG does it, it gets ripped to shreds. Talk about double standard.
  2. I would highly doubt if it doesn't have the IR blaster on the HTC One Max especially since the Note 3 has it. The IR blaster will probably be built into the power button just like they did with the HTC One. These are just basic things that are now becoming the norm for smartphones going forward. I would be very surprised if the HTC One Max didn't include the IR blaster.
  3. That second sentence is the big question. I agree that if you can make it through a day with heavy use on the Nexus 5 then the worries are OBE. The Snapdragon 800 should help with the battery life like it has with the G2 and Note 3 but we still don't know what real world uses will be on a 2300 maH battery. Obviously its not going to last as long as the G2 or Note 3. I have no problem with folks commenting or complaining about the battery size of the Nexus 5 at this point since we have nothing to base on. I don't think the performance of the phone is going to be an issue hence why there is much more focus on other things like the battery or camera since stock android is stock android. Nothing really exciting to talk about stock android. Also the benchmarks that Anandtech or any other tech blog uses are completely useless and no matter what the battery life it claims it can have is going to vary per person.
  4. I see. However the question still remains as to why the fact that it is triband is causing the delay.
  5. I think the questions about triband LTE have been resolved based on evidence we have seen or heard. The questions now are just when the phone will launch and whether the phone will be available at launch with triband capabilities or would need a future firmware update to enable it.
  6. Based on posts #14 and #15, it appears the LG G2 is still using a USIM card which is a bummer. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2476138&page=2
  7. But the system dump of the ROM for the Sprint LG G2 has already been dumped since Sept 24th. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46307050&postcount=6 Unless the intent is for Sprint to come out with an immediate software update on launch day to patch any issues with LTE 2600 handoff which could make sense. LTE 2600 will not be the default band on the triband LTE phones. From the screenshots we saw earlier, B41 has been disabled by default as it should be since it is nowhere near deployed as much as LTE 1900 is currently. It will be at least another 2 -2.5 years before B41 can even enter discussion to be the default LTE band.
  8. Is the iPhone 5S bending a thing you guys have experienced or noticed? Since the iPhone 5S chassis is based on the iPhone 5, it appears the issue has been happening since last year? Can we say bendable screens like Samsung...haha. http://www.technobuffalo.com/2013/10/07/iphone-5s-bends-just-like-the-iphone-5-early-adopters-report/
  9. thank goodness. I don't mind if Korea is the guinea pig for this type of stuff. I'll be interested to see how the reviews and perception are of this device.
  10. I wonder if it is just the NOLA market or all Ericcson markets. It seems like ALU sites are still able to connect to CDMA 800 for the time being. No word on Samsung markets though.
  11. If you read Dkoellerwx's post above, it looks like at least 10-20 cell CDMA 800 cell sites with all testing completed including e911. Its fine that Sprint can take their time to make it right. Just as long as the testing PRL allows the connection to CDMA 800, I'll be happy to be able to test it out.
  12. The LG Optimus G was launched on Nov 11th last year. I am just guessing they feel they need another 2 weeks to build out the LTE 2600 network for a launch date of Nov 8th. After looking at the LTE 2600 map, I can see a few more markets that can use the extra 2 weeks. That is my only guess as to why the G2 is being delayed. Perhaps the LG G2 is the first triband smartphone and I guess Sprint wants to make sure it creates a great experience. I am a bit worried that the G2 launch is creeping up too close to a HTC One Max and Nexus 5 release but I guess Sprint or LG doesn't care. One source http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46318651&postcount=10 Second source - Look at Mr. Ed posts at the bottom (#2368) http://androidforums.com/sprint/459326-any-new-phone-rumors-sprint-48.html#post6190828
  13. If the 11/8 launch date is true that is very disappointing. I have no idea why Sprint would need to have 1 month of preorders. We will have to see. At this point it is starting to get a bit ridiculous especially when the Nexus 5 could be released at the same time.
  14. Yes I am on top of it...hence I am the first to reply.
  15. Newboyx said the phone isn't activated yet since he has not been given the direction to do so since it is so far away from release. Therefore we don't know if the B26 and B41 options are working yet and the screenshots will not reflect that. He also said he doesn't know the MSL of the device which could be required in order to enable the B26 and B41 options. Perhaps when you actually activate the device it will automatically enable B26 and B41. Only time will tell. I agree that we should still be cautious and not be overly excited about what was revealed today. However it is still a nice piece of information to gather to help confirm if it is triband LTE or not.
  16. LTE Advanced is pointless at the moment when not even half of the 39K Sprint sites still have not been upgraded to LTE yet. So to me I don't mind if LTE Advanced on Sprint doesn't get deployed until mid 2014 when NV 1.0 should be wrapping up for the most part.
  17. I guess I didn't think of it that way. I just thought it made logical sense to me that if a band is disabled an entry in the band priority not showing up was reasonable. But unfortunately we can't verify that once you enable B26 and B41 if two more entries will show up in the Band Priority menu but I assume that it will since it appears that this is how it is going to work.
  18. I don't know what it looks like on the computer since I don't work for Sprint but from what I have heard the way you activate the iPhone 5S/5C it uses a new authentication system via a CSIM (CDMA Subscriber Identity Module) card that stores a bunch of information on the SIM card to allow you to hot swap between LTE phones. I am sure that the CSIM cards have a different SKU and from what Tim said above, he said there should be different SKUs for the CSIM and USIM cards SIMCARD LTE 4FF USIM REMOVABLE SIMCARD LTEGSM 4FF CSIM REMOV2 Here is some more information of what information is stored on a CSIM card. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CSIM CSIM Application File System The CSIM application contains a file system with a number of parameters needed to operate on cdmaOne/CDMA2000 ("CDMA") networks. Each parameter, or a group of related parameters, is specified with a unique identifier with an implicit or explicit length, and is considered a separate Elementary File (EF). The following examples are taken from the 3GPP2 specification.[1] Encryption keys, provisioned by the operator. Phone Number. Call Counts. Short Message Service Parameters. Received Short Messages (255 bytes maximum per message). IMSI (international mobile subscriber identifier). TMSI (temporary mobile subscriber identifier, for position security). UIMID (hardware identifier). Will be a pseudo (hashed) value if EUIMID is in use. EUIMID. Either short form (based on MEID) or long form (based on ICCID). ICCID. Present even if it is not used as EUIMID. MEID (hardware identifier). Analog (AMPS) operational parameters. CDMA2000 home identifiers, such as SID and NID. CDMA2000 zone-based registration parameters, telling the handset to register when it changes to a new operator-defined zone (SID/NID). CDMA2000 distance-based registration parameters, telling the handset to register when it travels a certain distance (each CDMA2000 transmitter emits its GPS location). Random parameters (slot cycle index) to use during CSMA access probes. List of services available. If a service is not indicated as available in the CSIM, the mobile equipment shall not select this service. Examples include "Call Control", "SMS", "BCMCS Broadcast", "IP Location", etc. If a service is not in this table, the handset will not provide the service. Multimode System Selection (MMSS) parameters.
  19. Doesn't it show B25 Enabled/Disabled in the pic? Also of course it shows only 1 band in the band priority menu because only B25 is enabled. If you enable B26 and B41 you should see an entry for B26 and B41 with a number 2 and 3. Logically if a band is disabled, why would it show up in the Band Priority list??? Lets just say I am confused why you are confused...haha. It could also be that B25 LTE will be nationwide in the very near future while B26 still has limitations in the IBEZ markets where they don't want you to turn it off and B41 still has a long long ways to go before it becomes nationwide.
  20. My intent was never for you to actually activate the device but to inquire someone who might know this information about whether it uses a CSIM or USIM. I just would imagine that there would be some major hint of CSIM vs. USIM usage especially if you get a nice inventory of fresh CSIM cards within the next week. I would never ask you to do something that you were not allowed to do. I know what you have already presented thus far is a great heads up. Thank you for that.
  21. Well the iPhone 5S and 5C are using the new CSIM card system where you can hot swap LTE devices on the fly like Verizon does since all the hardware ID info and CDMA info is stored on the CSIM sim card. I guess one way you can find out is to ask if the LG G2 will be activated on the sim card the same way as the iPhone 5S/5C.
  22. Very good question. I am crossing my fingers hoping its a CSIM card.
  23. OHH..haha I guess I could have guessed that. I was reading that LG had a secret hidden menu where you type in something like 3845#*(model number)#. I guess in this case 3845#*980#.
