that's always a good thing. Which tower?I have seen about three Centurylink trucks near a sprint 3G tower, they were running cables underground.

I agree that it is a bummer. Almost all of the towers I have seen in town (excl flagpoles) are done (i.e., have the NV equipment). I can't tell on some of the flagpoles. I can't see the cabinets which makes it difficult. The thing to keep your eyes open for is Centurylink. Centurylink is the backhaul provider for most of the market and they are slow as can be. I would suggest becoming a sponsor so you know exactly all of the Sprint towers. Therefore, when you see a truck next to it, post it here to let everyone know.
I agree. Almost every site I have seen is equipment upgraded. Dang CL. I also have not noticed increased speeds on 3g, if they were duplexing the T1 lines, like some areas have seen before fiber came in, I think we would see increased 3g for the time being. Maybe this means none or hardly any of the upgraded towers in town are actually broadcasting a signal on the new equipment.

I'm betting we will have a build on xda within a month, an official build...who knows.I'm not asking if it would be any time soon but now that the Nexus 5 and 4.4 android has been announced does anyone think the note 2 will get it eventually?

that was probably before the new plansCool - were you able to retain your old plan or did you have to switch to one of the new ones? It sounds like you had it shipped to you - not picked up at a store, correct?

I'm pretty sure the word tri band and spark are one in the same.Forgot to say I'm glad all Triband devices coming out supports Sprint's Spark. Who knows if the iPhone will though

That's why I said of your phone updates, i.e. don't update your phone if it pops up on your screen. As long as you don't have to go into Sprint, Odin a previous release stock rom, then custom recovery.

On a different note, I was under the impression initially that the part Knox that is the flash counter was a special hardware piece in the note 3. Maybe the Knox that our phones will get is purely the software component of it and won't have the custom recovery counter.

I think will be ok as long as you install a stripped down ROM like you said. If you ever have to return for warranty however, and you flash back to stock my understanding is that once your phone updates while on stock unrooted you're screwed. From the leaks, all the Samsung devices getting 4.3 this fall are getting Knox, GS3, GN2, GS Mini/Active, etc.
My question, what if you already have a custom recovery, etc? Can't a ROM Dev just take the stock rom, strip all that crap out and just install the modified stock OS from the existing custom recovery?

I just grabbed the 503 prl again, connected to smr, and made a call and connected immediately. Sent a text and it was received immediately. I will play with it some more tomorrow, but maybe there has been some changes. Can any others with a note two experiment as well?

Man I sure hope so! Have you been able to place a call or send an sms?At least in brief testing, no issues in Shentel market in PA. 800 seemed to be NA most of the day though. Maybe tinkering going on?

Knox makes it so you can not install a custom recovery on your phone, well you can, but it trips a switch that to this point can't be tripped back. It makes it so if you want to put a custom ROM on your phone you WILL trip Knox and if you have to send your phone back for warranty they will not honor the warranty. Knox will start killing off the spread of custom roms, IMHO.

According to Engadget Knox is coming to the S4 with the 4.3 update, I see this as horrible news. I wonder if that means Sammy can roll it out to other devices too?

We're not offended, we are just trying to make this forum a source of accurate information. We are just questioning the legitimacy of your claims.I call that an ego issue of being offended where people like me just post there opinions, and people like you get hurt.

Too bad those speeds are PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE on 3g.That's in LA I was on a trip I was doing for amtrak by rail so I ran a test.

You're telling me you turned off lte, was on 3g, and picked up 8 Mb to 11 Mb download speeds? If that's what you are saying, then you indeed have no credibility.Well I do have to disagree with you 2 disagreements with me, I recently went to LA and turned off my LTE and I was ringing in 8mbps and some 11. So I tried the LTE and wow what a difference. Also I know the guy in sprint who is one out of many assigned to oversee 4G LTE conversion. He mentioned in order to maintain a strong 4G LTE network you have to improve the current network. I been on Verizon and there 3G SUCKS!! Between ABQ and Gallup. Why cause a contact of mine said Verizon was to focused on 4G LTE and didn't wanna invest time into improving there 3G out of ABQ limits. Now with Sprint I get excellent 3G between ABQ & Gallup. Point is sprint I assume are taking this slow & easy cause they want to do it RIGHT! hell the verizon store on coors by pass near costco believes that sprints 4G LTE network is really 4G WIMAX.

agreed. It has nothing to do with where they are working. There are tons of towers upgraded all over town, it is simply that backhaul is not in place. Also, like was said before the reason southern and eastern NM are seeing lte is because of a different backhaul provider actually delivering on their commitment. Most Sprint employees you talk to will have access to substantially less information then we do here in this site.We all know that Sprint employee's don't really know what's going on with the NV. They just know that its going to happen within 3 to 6 months. Only the people who are currently assigned to the task know what's going on.
But two reason's why I don't think your statement is right is.
1. CenturyLink is to blame for the slow fiber install. Look at Verizon.
2. Why would Sprint make 3G a top priority? LTE is their priority right now along with revamping the whole network. Yes we are getting 3G updates, but so is all the other markets.

I hope not! Way over the expected price point.hum hum hum

Not sure if it means anything, but I did see a century link truck parked and working over a man-hole near the yale and cesar chavez site at about 9 tonight. It might just be a residential internet outage, but it could be linked to why that tower has been very very iffy recently.

that's near where I live. The towers around there have been literally in and off sporadically for the past few days.I was at the burger king on Gibson and I-25 and I usually get speeds of 700kbps to 1.5 mbs. But a different story today, no usable Internet access at all and kept losing data connection. Wonder what was going on?

if you see lte today download sensorly, if you haven't already, and map the lte signal.Im not sure on the exact location of towers ive seen a couple in my area but I dont have access to the maps that show their locations

if you become a sponsor you can see the exact locations of the towers, which ones have been upgraded, and tons more. I highly recommend it!Im not sure on the exact location of towers ive seen a couple in my area but I dont have access to the maps that show their locations

I just did a speed test up off of 90th and sunset gardens and got a weird results. https://db.tt/6yGpLD2d
I went by there tonight and didn't pick up 4g or 3g speeds that indicate fiber backhaul. I guess either you had a glitch on the test or they were testing today and you got lucky to pick it up while they were. Is there any way you can go by the towers to see if they are NV complete?

I'm just confused by the 3g part, but there is no way that is a 3g.signal.

I need to find the person who's in charge of the contract and slap him! Anyone else want to join?
I'm down haha. I'm sure CL got the contract due to the price the bid. Also, there may be a maintenance aspect to the contract that came along with the bid for backhaul that a smaller company may not be able to fulfill.

Has anyone with this ROM downloaded the new hangouts app and gotten sms to work within hangouts? It doesn't even show up as an option to sms within the app for me.
