  1. Made it to the site. This tower has many different carriers on it. I took pictures but I can't figure out for the life of me how to upload. Anyways, there was one panel/antennas per sector. For each of the three panels, there were 3 RRU's. It appeared to be fresh dirt dug for a trench. I cannot confirm what it was for as I did not see a Centurylink box anywhere (assuming CL is the provider for this tower). I toggled airplane mode several times hoping for a "LTE" sign but no dice (also restarted once). I ran two speed tests. Each came out to 0.94 and 0.98 DL and 0.50 and 0.54 UL respectively (each ping time was 142 and 138). Overall, it was really awesome to look up and see the RRU's. Can't wait to see more of these around town.

As always, thanks Robert for the head' up on ABQ market. I know you are just as ancy as we are here.

    Edit: I am a retard.

must be the backhaul holding things up with those 3g speeds.

  2. Called sprint to ask about the tower near me...girl said it wasn't an LTE tower....and the nearest one was 4.1 miles away. I know it's an LTE site...cant miss the panels and RRU's. impossible that it isn't because I was getting full LTE at home and now I'm not. It'll fluctuate to -121 db and back to full signal 3G

if you aren't in an officially launched market they won't support or sometimes acknowledge that there is lte. If you go to sprints coverage maps do they have lte coverage on their map for you? If they don't, then they probably won't help you.

  3.

the work around the airport you suspect is most likely the tower I posted about, but could be another one too.

Maybe, I think if I remember correctly, Sprint said they only have one tower for the Sunport.
there are multiple sites, three I can think of, close enough to the sunport that you could probably pull a connection from. One at Caesar Chavez and the freeway, one at Caesar Chavez and Yale, and the"airport" one at Yale and gibson

  4. I notice on Coors & I40 going South next to the Sprint store there was people working on a tower today while I was heading into work. I can't get the picture posted from my phone since for some reason service at the Airport is crap right now. I'll upload the picutre tomorrow.

    EDIT

I have a feeling work is also being down around the Sunport too. Getting roaming where I don't normally have roaming. I feel we are getting update! :D

I kept my eyes up and look what I found! Might be the first full build found in Albuquerque. Site is at Cesar Chavez and Yale. Saw a crane dropping new cabinets into the enclosed fence area. Also, I was right next to the tower and had zero signal, so I assume it was Sprint. Check the pictures and let me know if you want me to go back later once it is cleared to get more pictures.

Excellent find! That's right down the street from my Albuquerque office. I will be down there next week to check on the progress. Thanks for the report!

    Robert

should I put it in the in progress thread so it gets marked, or can you take care of that?

  7. I got LTE off of 94th going towards the south hill mall, didnt have time to have sensorly tracking before it cut, was weird cause drove back same way but on other side of road and it tried to get LTE but couldn't get a signal, ran a speed test and got 3 up and 2 down but probably cause I was on the edge of a tower signal, just curious why do we have to donate to find out what towers are getting LTE , shouldn't it be free? I just want to know if towers in puyallup are being worked on
Donating covers the operating costs of the site. It costs money to host the forum and the maps the site provides. Robert, the site admin, can probably chime in with more details.

  8. Well that got butchered.

I understood haha. My understanding is that Ericsson is the supplier for our region. I was under the impression that Ericsson was running the NV operations for NM, but was hiring out the actual tower workers to install the equipment. I'm sure Robert will chime in and clear up that aspect. It could be that the Ericsson employee was checking out the site for work that is about to begin (I'm hoping for that!) or I think I may have heard that Ericsson is responsible for non-NV related maintenance on legacy equipment (I'm hoping it is not that!). Either way, I will run by the site again later and see if anything looks new.

  9. So I live in phoenix and I keep hearing 2 to 3 months for 4g lte. But when I looked on this site and sprints site I cant seam to find anywhere I can read this for my self, the 3g is so slow and if I want to download apps I wait to get home to link to my wifi. I just became a sprint customer and not to happy with the speed of the network as of right now and understand there updating there network and that could be why things are so slow right now. Can I get a straight answer from someone.
if you are a sponsor to this site you can see that building is really ramping up in Phoenix. You will start seeing 3g improvements all over town now and in the coming weeks and months. If history teaches us something you should also start seeing lte pop up in parts of town in a month or two. You won't be waiting long, the towers are upgrading now!
