Enquiring minds want to know ????It's not. And Sprint should just let these people go if they are not going to rectify their problem. I received an email the other day from a Sprint site acquisition attorney. I will get around to sending you a message about it later today or tomorrow. It will explain some of the dilemma you're having Downtown.

The cost of CDMA chips is over hyped. Almost all Qualcomm chips support CDMA already. It just need to be programmed to do it. The same chips are used in CDMA phones that are used in most GSM phones. It is software controlled, not hardware.Except SoftBank is GSM and Sprint is not. And Verizon is going CDMA-only in 2016 so taht will jack up the costs for phones with CDMA chips
Also, Sprint and Verizon have been getting different hardware for years now.
The Nexus 5 is a great example. 2 models work pretty much everywhere on the planet. Same with iPhones, they actually only make a few models.

I still don't understand why you would want to pay Easy Pay instead of a 2 year upgrade.not sure what you mean by this. while I understand your point that the payment is built in, even with the added fee of using easy pay, my monthly rate still comes out to less if I stay on Everything Shared than switching to Framily.

But you are overpaying. You are paying for your device 2x. It is already built into your plan and you are adding a payment on top of that. Why wouldn't you just do a traditional upgrade?a. was not the case two weeks ago, and he also said he's not sure it can be done in corporate stores.
b. he said that using Easy Pay with Everything Data causes the customer to overpay which is false.

Easy Pay will work on Framily, Unlimited My Way, and Everything Data. You don't get a discount on service for doing it on the old plans so it generally is a waste of money, but if you feel the need to overpay while complaining about the price of the new plans feel free.
This change took effect Monday at 3rd party retailers. I don't know when and if it will be available on Sprint corporate stores.
*edited to add time of change*

What is you definition of "most places"?This is especially true comparing to the Verizon 2GB subsidized plan for $60 considering it's still very difficult to use more than 1 GB in most places.

That is no longer an issue. As of Monday Easy Pay can be done on most plans.please read my subsequent post which explains that Sprint corporate stores (at least in NYC) do not allow customers to purchase devices using Easy Pay and add them to old plans

I think this is where the Brightstar/Softbank/Sprint relationship will shine. I think they will be in the position to negotiate for really good bulk purchasing. Everyone keeps making comparisons with high end phones as the example. There are lots of people that walk into get phones with the intention to spend as little as possible. They are the free phone people, they never pay for the latest and greatest and never will. As wireless enthusiasts we don't really see things from that perspective, but it is a sizeable amount of subscribers. One good thing that Sprint is doing here is working to get phones that are actually reasonably priced when their price isn't bundled into the plan's subsidy. The Aquos phone is a prime example of this: $240 per year = $10 per month = not a huge premium for the device fee on top of what you're paying for the plan.
Now, so is T-Mobile, with stuff like the Galaxy Avant, the Lumia 635 and the Galaxy Light. But Sprint is getting on the bandwagon here, and will probably promote the less expensive devices more, and work more to get interesting ones, because that's how they're positioning themselves.

You are only getting an upgrade to unlimited data from the 5GB plan. The stories make it sound like free service. It is just a free upgrade to unlimited.

Sorry, I should have taken a bit more time to be more clear. Thanks for the assist.RRPP members are treated as pseudo native. cca members are still unknown but it's likely that they will be pseudo native but have caveats like throttling or capped speeds etc to discourage abusers from other cca partners to use their network with cheaper prices. .

It it widely thought that CCA roaming will be treated as native when everything is finished.I wish there were no roaming limits and it was at least EV-DO speed. With CCA Roaming I hoped that roaming limits would be relaxed. This would appear to be the opposite.
Roaming anxiety is one reason I have a hard time returning to Sprint.

But it's not really a discount. It just balanced out the payment. His service would not be cheaper with the discount. Once you add back in the ez pay payment. It pretty much is a wash.exactly, so he can't get the additional discount.

So you are not paying an ez pay payment.I already have a device so I don't have Easy Pay

How are current customers getting the shaft?Once again existing customers get the shaft!
Those are actually a pretty decent discount. Too bad it won't work for me.

Slightly off subject, but is ting tipping some inside info about Sprint supporting the Nexus 6?Looks like the Aquos is a provisional YES on Ting: https://ting.com/blog/device-update-didja-miss-us-2/#comment-1549616413

Hotspot is included in the new plans.I was curious about whether anyone has an idea of Hot Spots would be free now with the new data bucket plans??? I did note on the release that roaming data is still limited to 100MB unlike the 300 suggested with my current plan... I don't roam much typically but this weekend I was in northwest LP Michigan along Traverse Bay and got good LTE about a mile from me but needed to use roaming data from a Verizon tower across the water and then drove around the other areas all in roaming data or with nothing ( Sprint coverage map shows white where I was driving).. It looks like I won't hit 300 since I'm back home now..

$240 is almost cheap enough just to pick one up to play with.

The 400 comes in both dual core and quad core. I believe this is is the quad core.Snapdragon 400 is dual core...definitely no better than "mid level" for mid-2014. Should be cheaper though, which is what the target for this should be. Cheaper (decent) phone with the new $100 plan might win some folks over.

Mid level. It is a Snapdragon 400 quad core. It should be perfectly fine. They took it down already...lol.
I think I remember reading that this Sharp phone is a low tier phone (low end processor at least)...is that still correct?

It is confusing to you (a current Sprint customer), but it is pretty standard considering it is the exact same as the big 2. If a customer is coming from one of the big to they can directly compare their existing plan with all of their devices to Sprint's plans. It is apples to apples. It is actually simpler. These plans aren't designed to woo over people who are on a better legacy plan, they are designed to snag customers from the big 2.My only complaint is you have 5-6 different access fees depending upon the type of device, how big your data bucket is, and if you are a new or existing customer. That makes it a real mess to explain when you are trying to sell service.

These plans are not difficult. Why is everyone so confused by these? These are almost exactly the same as the big 2. These are insanely easy to comprehend. Data bucket + access fee = bill.

Correct, new customers get the $15 waived initially. No $15 montly fees for new customers initially. Just $100/month. That's how I read it.
