IPhone devices are more likely to retain their value after 24 months. Very few if any Android devices can compete on resale value. Look at the Galaxy S3 vs the iPhone 5 on the resale market. Sprint can make back some of that iPhone discount on the resale market.

Does it matter if rooted? Custom recovery or ROM? Or, does it just need to turn on and be operational, i.e. buttons working, etc.? Will they price match Sprint? And, this wording from the site sounds like you wouldn't be able to apply card to purchase: "get a $200 Best Buy gift card at time of purchase with trade in of any working smartphone." Does the purchase have to be completed to get the card, or can it be a part of the transaction?
Rooted phones are generally not an issue. In my particular store there would be few that would even know what to check for. I traded in my old EVO 4G LTE running MeanROM.
As for the second part, like I said prior, I will check the specifics this weekend but the trade in system and the POS system are two completely different systems. Trade in gift cards are not issued by POS. They are generated prior to the completion of a sale.

What is the chance Best Buy will allow the Sprint version to be sold for $300 versus $350? It pisses me off that Sprint wants to charge $50 more for the same dang phone. Would love to take advantage of two $200 Gift Cards and get two Note 4's for $100 each. I don't see the reasoning why it cost $50 more.
One could assume it will drop at some point, but I can not share specifics of future price changes. That is an instant termination of employment. Best Buy does price match competitors for same devices. If another retailer is selling the Sprint Galaxy Note 4 for $300 it can be priced accordingly.I know that. I was just asking the guy that is obviously a BestBuy employee what the chances that the price would drop to $300.

No, our system just takes the payment for tax (and down payment if required) and applies it to your Sprint bill. It has to be made using a major credit card.So it wouldn't work as a down payment on Easy Pay? That's a bit of a bummer, but I'm not surprised.

Fun fact, one of the Band 41 sites I connected to today was also the same one that broadcasted the first Indy LTE that was mapped on Sensorly so long ago. I have completed the Sprint LTE trifecta (25,26,41)!

I will check the details Saturday when I return to work, but we have allowed promotional trade in gift cards to be applied towards device purchases in the past. I haven't seen anything regarding this promotion that states anything different.Fair enough. That sounds like the best deal out there then. Thanks for the info.

Yeah I've seen mention of the samsung one but if best buy let's you use the gift card towards the purchase of the phone then I think that might be a better deal, for me at least.
You will be able to use the gift card toward the purchase of the device. Unless you are doing Easy Pay.I would find that doubtful. At best, they would let you use it for accessories.

New installs. I personally saw the install in Noblesville. None of the above mentioned route should have connected to the old protection site on this side of town.Robert, as Indy was not a wimax market, does this mean that Sprint b41 8t8r installs are now being turned on? Or was this a former wimax protection site?
My name is Robert, but probably not the one you were looking for. ????

Did a little driving today. Picked up 41 at 126th and 37. Held it all the way until I got on 465. Judging by signal strength it was definitely 2 different towers, possibly 3. It was hard to dig into the details while driving. Just going off of info from the engineering screens. Definitely multiple serving cells. I can make some educated guesses about which sites based on knowledge of existing Sprint locations, but obviously not confirmed.

Anyone ever upgraded with them before? I never have and don't want to have any issues with losing my ED1500 family plan or them botching it in some way. Their $200 gift card with a phone trade in and note 4 pre order is a pretty tempting deal
Best Buy is now listing the Sprint Note 4 at $349.

Maintaining your current plan is not an issue at Best Buy currently. The activation system currently allows continuation of legacy plans. You will definitely get the pitch for switching to a more modern plan with Easy Pay, but you are more than welcome to decline the switch.I've upgraded several phones at BestBuy under my ED1500 family plan, never had any problems. Early in the year I got an email from them offering a $50 upgrade coupon if I registered my phone number with them then, and upgrade before the end of this year, so I expect to get that $50 off as well.
As with all retailers there are employees that are more competent than others.

Sprint's Boost/Virgin also don't have BYOD capabilities like MetroPCS, TracFone, and other GSM prepaid brands. Since most CDMA prepaid brands aren't allowed to activate iPhones, this is notable. What is odd, though, is that Virgin Mobile isn't part of this.
I have a feeling that Virgin is going away sometime in the not to distant future.Boost may just be getting it first. VM later. But, I have to think at some point Sprint will consolidate its prepaid brands. What's the point in having 3? (Boost, VM, and Sprint Prepaid) Are there really 3 different market niches being served by those 3?

Seems to be running at a lower power than the other 2 bands. Standing in the same spot about 1 block away with direct LOS of the site I am getting around 20-30 dBm weaker signal on 41.

Shiny new things!
In Noblesville just north of Indianapolis. Pretty tricky to hold on to. First time I have seen it. I check multiple times a day.

The spark icon does not mean Spark coverage. It is displayed for any LTE connection. It had the Spark icon, and I consistently tested over 25mbps up and down (never got these speeds on my iPhone5).

I am getting duplicate messages from you. Not just 1 or 2... but 6,7,8,etc.. " there was an update last night.. Wonder if what ever they fixed.. They broke something else.

That is on device data. Icloud is still fair game to law enforcement. Still a good thing.ios 8 is so encrypted that Apple couldn't turn over user data even if presented with a warrant from law enforcement.

Have you checked the promo status page? https://promo.sprint.com/Promo click on the check status tab.Has anyone received their American Express gift card/rebate (either $150 or $100) from Sprint on their G3 purchase yet?
If bought on release day, as I did, we are in the 10th week of the 10-12 week time period it takes to receive it.
Customer Care said to wait the last two weeks and call back if it has not shown up.
