  1. To everyone that keeps up the "but the network sucks!" stuff, if the network is that bad, Sprint can't make it cheap enough to be worth it to join. What is the magic price for a network that sucks? $20 and you are ok with a crap network? $30? $40?

The point is, customers are getting 2x as much for the same price as the competitors. They can't make it free, but they can add more value to what you are paying for. No revenue = no network. They need to turn a profit.

  2. Pros:  The plans are structured similar to how plans are structured on VZW and AT&T.  As current Sprint customers we may not like it, but to average consumers it is easier to understand.  They have been conditioned for years by the big 2 that this is what cell plans look like.  Customers can compare the carriers easier.  The stark difference in data allotments will stick out in a good way.   The industry is about new subscribers,  Yes, as a current Sprint customer I would like better deals for current customers, but new customers are the goal.  This is not unique to Sprint.  Giving new customers better deals has been standard in the industry for a while.  In areas where Sprint has a good network these plans will look great to customers looking at their options.

    Tethering is finally included!

Tablet plans are easier to grasp for more people.

Hotspot plans are easier to grasp for more people.

Don't underestimate the power of simplicity.  A tablet only costing $10 is easy to understand.

Cons:  Having to pay $5 to upgrade annually is less than ideal.  Either make it at 12 or 18 months like AT&T, or 12 months like VZW.  If you are going to charge a premium to upgrade early, T-Mo Jump at least includes  device protection in with it.  With the Softbank/Sprint/Brightstar (Brightstar has device insurance and buy back programs http://www.brightstar.com/services/buyback-trade-in-solutions) connection they should easily be able to offer something competitive in that area.

I am sure there are more than just those above.  These are the ones that stuck out at a quick glance.

  3. Well that was only one point I made. But in any case not according to their website, the store i was in yesterday or the last time I talked to my vzw friend.

    http://www.verizonwireless.com/vzw/landingpages/more-everything/

You linked to the more everything landing page. It is not a more everything plan. The store you were in yesterday is uninformed of the current plan offerings. From Verizon Wireless website. Click shop-plans-single line plans. Its right there front and center for new subscribers. It was also announced as available as of 8/15 for retailers.

  4. First this a retention offer for existing customer in good standing, not an offer for new subs. Second, 2gig of data not unlimited. Third, vzw's margins are much better than sprint's so having a value offer for retention purpose makes sense for them, I don't think a 50 plan with a subsidy makes any kind of sense with Sprint.

Incorrect, that is a new plan available to new customers.

  5. We previously sold a moto wifi only tablet in sprint stores, it was back in 2011- 2012. It didn't sell well at all.

Sprint needs to get Asus eee pad Transformer and drop the idea of Moto XOOM..no one will buy that high end high price tablet!!!..when we can get the Asus EEE Pad Transformer for $399.99!! I mean come on Sprint we want you guys to stay around since AT&T got Tmobile in the bag!!

First post of xoom thread. Priceless.

  6. I immediately noticed that my screen looked a lot more sharp on the replacement. As a designer, I have a pretty trained eye for things like this, and I even noticed that the color temperature seemed a bit more cool.

I see that on most phones (regardless of manufacturer). On occasion when activating phones side by side of the same model you can see a stark difference in screen. Move them apart and they both look great. Put them next to each other and you can't unsee it.

  7. a ) Where did I say unlimited data at that $50?

    b ) You can't compare Verizon's network to Sprint's.

c ) "Truly disruptive" pricing is going to actually require Sprint to be aggressive.

a ) The recent discussion in this thread is about a $50 unlimited plan. I assumed you were participating in the current discussion.

    b ) I don't recall comparing Verizon's network to Sprint's.

c ) If you don't find a $50 unlimited plan disruptive then I am lost. Not sure who has a better unlimited plan.

  8. Verizon is doing unlimited talk/text, 2GB of data, and a subsidy for $60. (http://www.verizonwireless.com/wcms/consumer/shop/shop-data-plans/single-line-data-plans.html)

And, Sprint obviously has to be cheaper than Verizon...so $50 subsidized isn't the least bit farfetched.

    You can't compare a $60 2GB plan with a $50 unlimited plan.

  9. I'm sure these new plans will require easy pay. Hopefully it includes both 2 yr and easy pay

It may not be the next batch of plans that are announced, but 2 year contracts and subsidized phones are on the way out. The writing is on the wall. Look at every carrier. The sooner we decouple devices from service the better. The average consumers perception of what smartphones cost is completely off.
