from what I've seen on here, 1x800 is being brought up in clusters so there aren't any bad handoffs to legacy equipment which would result in a dropped call. This would be bad for something like a 911 call. Thanks for your response....
Does anyone have any idea as to why Sprint seems to be disabling the 1x 800 on the NV towers in the VA/DC/MD area?

I've seen it in some areas of dc and pg county. It used to be on almost every nv tower I came across but it seems like they have turned them off lately. That is great news that you saw 1x800 in Alexandria VA.
As I mentioned in another thread, I personally have only seen it in the Backlick Rd area of Alexandria VA.
So it seems to me that Alexandria VA may be the only area that currently has 1x800 deployed.
Does anyone know if Sprint plans to add 1x800 to any other area in the NoVA or DC area?

does anybody think this drastic increase in signal strength has anything to do with there only being one path? Just one 1900 signal for lte instead of both cdma and lte at the same time?I received my 32gb N5 this past thursday. The first thing I notice was the RF performance of LTE. Usually In my bedroom my Samsung Galaxy S4 was getting from -108 to -113dbm, now with this phone I am getting -93 to -95dbm. I am finally happy that I can have LTE signal in one of our favorite place in the house "The Bathroom" were my SGS4 dropped back to 3G. Doing my morning Glory while reading the news on my cell phone with LTE now is "Priceless"

next time before you click on the graph, when it shows you a list of things that are using your battery go the the screen and you'll be able to see how long you had the screen on.The Idea was shot down about 40 pages back.
I don't know exactly how much time the screen was on, I didn't time it, but the second picture shows a graph.
-
what's your screen on time?Mostly WiFi here. ~ 28% remaining
All day LTE here. ~5% remaining
Now, I have all bands active and I am not in a 26 or 41 market. I'm going to try this same test tomorrow with those bands off to see if anything changes. I would say this is with light use.
EDIT: Band misnumber.

2 questions for AJ or maybe any users
1. Since the 1x radio is technically off when connected to lte,is there an improvement in battery life?
2. Does an active data session pause when receiving a text or does it come through lte? If it does pause, how long is it?
Asked this in the nexus 5 forum but no answer, what have you guys seen regarding this?

probably not, it has been an issue on stock Google sms apps for a whileOoh this would be a huge pain, although I'm sure something that would get an update fix

was there a case on your one? I know for my s4 the signal would drop when I had a case on it, noticeable enough for me to risk not using a caseSo I had a full day to use my new nexus 5 and I am loving it so far. Using this and my One side by side, I would say that battery life is about the same on both devices. This device is so snappy its unreal but honestly when I go back to the One it feels just as snappy to me so maybe all this talk about high end specs can finally be put to rest.
As far as camera, honestly I think the One owns the nexus 5 in every conceivable category, in my opinion its not even close. I probably took 200 pics/videos today using both devices and to me the One just beats it. Speakers are great for what they are but this is something else that the One is far better at as well. I also think that the One still has the best screen thats out right now.
As for 4.4 kitkat, I love the google integration, it makes everything so simple and easy to use and easy to get to but what most important to me though is rf performance. Now when it comes to 1x/3g/lte it straight up kills my One. The rf differences between both devices on 1x/3g aren't that significant to complain about but the difference between lte is ridiculous. My nexus was easily averaging 10 to 15dbm's better than my One in every situation I could put both devices in, it was shocking to see in all honesty and to be quite frank I am totally impressed. The rf performance alone is worth the $350 price tag.

Any comparisons of signal strength vs the s4?
-
Contemplating this purchase, I have an s4 but it hurts keeping a phone for more than six months

Is there a reason? I'm just asking because if it's not too difficult why not just do it, it seems like Sprint just doesn't future proof their phones other than 1x800 being added a while agoNo. You always need to buy a new device.

I can say for my area TMO certainly has better site spacing. Far too often Sprint skips sites while TMO is there

my mistake, I was looking at the diversity antennae. #3 on the phoneOn the S4? LTE radio is still on the bottom:
-
that's because the lte radio is up top. I have one and it annoys me how much my signal drops when I hold my phone normallyI haven't heard anyone complain about the GS4 RF so I don't think it'll be a big issue.
-
The one concern I have is that the lte radio is located on the bottom versus the top in the current gs4. Seems like the signal won't be as strong because of the attenuation with your hand
-
but you already know we can't access lte on a vzw prlIf only PRLs had something to really do with LTE.

I think 1x800 may be turned on permanently in the dc market. Turned my phone on and connected to channel 476. The SID is 22435
Edit: I guess I jumped the gun. It's no longer on. I was excited when I saw the 22435 SID since we had been on the testing SID 22429 I believe.
-
Can anybody confirm this is still an option? I'd rather do this than the one up program and I didn't see it on sprints site
-
u sure something isn't wrong with that site? That seems abnormalThat was off peak that I posted.
-
what are your speeds like on off peak hours?Saturated LTE sector. Too many customers/devices on one sector.
-
I was very impressed with the coverage in the shentel area. Especially with how well 1x800 reached. A few holes in the lte coverage because of it being on 1900mhz. Overall a very solid experience.

I think my app is broken. Going to uninstall and reinstallThen a restart of Signalcheck might be in order as it should be showing with a 224xx SID.
