  1. hey how long have you been an employee??I called a friend of mine who has been with them for almost 10 yrs....havent chatted much lately because i have been a corp acct...but i called him and chatted with him about it for about 45 mins...I think i will be changing from corp over to personal....So explain this to me again...if i have lines that still have contract time, can i switch these with no $$$ hit?? or are they going to be hit with the $15 fee??
*I'm not an employee but I know the system quite well and NO you will not be hit with any fees *at this time* because they are pushing to get us on the plan. They are waiving the fee currently and I do not believe the end of the "limited time" has been leaked internally yet. Best advice is switch as soon as you can.

I want to make sure I have this right. If I use my upgrade and then switch to a framily plan then I have to pay an extra $15 a month.I upgraded a phone last april and added a new line last month. Would either of these lines be subjected to the $15 fee? I can forgo my upgrade and goto easy pay.If a wanted to add an existing sprint account to my framily can we still do a transfer of liability?
Yes, you upgrade now (or any time after Jan 10th to be exact) there is no way around getting hit with the $15 fee. Those lines that were upgraded prior to Jan 10 are good to go and *at this time, there is no penalty for still being within the 24 month contract period. Once they stop waiving that $15/month fee, you'd be responsible for paying that fee until your "current" contract end date passes OR after 12 months of consecutive $20 Unlimited data add package payments on that line in Framily. 2. Is anyone having internet signal issues and cell strength issues after the update to spark? My bars go full then to zero and back. What gives? Also when I now connect to lte spark I can't surf the internet. Only once did the sun burst actually move but still couldn't do anything. Anyone know what's up

I think a lot of people saw signal drop before the update as well but it didn't prohibit connectivity for the most part. Have you updated your profile and PRL?

  3. Sprint Chat confusing the heck out of me. This is incorrect right?

Log into your Sprint account and see if your devices ALL show upgrades. I noticed that they did the on 5 of my lines when I looked last week and I'm still on F&F1500 plan, working on switching soon though.  I had 1 subsidized available and 1 will be available in a week but ALL lines had been made available for "upgrade" last I looked. Granted, they were all "Easy Pay" *upgrades but still, "upgrades".

UPDATE: Here is what mine looks like.

    sprintacc.png

This is the message for the line that is almost ready for a subsidized FULL upgrade.

Here is what a line that is actually NOT ready for a subsidized FULL upgrade until December 2014.

  4. Completely stock ROM.  TWRP Recovery 2.6.3.3

    Thank you.

ANYONE... if you are on stock rom with TWRP, can you please pull and PM (or just post) your build.prop here before flashing the update? Would like to diff it against the stock rooted odex rom base to see if that is what is stopping that flashable update from running.

    Thanks!

  5. Here's a new set of screenshots... attachicon.gifuploadfromtaptalk1390879397632.jpgattachicon.gifuploadfromtaptalk1390879416387.jpgattachicon.gifuploadfromtaptalk1390879431682.jpg

Thanks for that.  I was wondering, can you tell us or maybe even grab a screen shot of the different conditions that change the data icon? I can see that when you are on band 41 that it's the star and I believe it's spinning, right? Is it that star when you are connected to regular band 25 LTE as well? Also, on 3G, I swear I saw a screen shot of a 3 inside of what looked like a "spark" ring.

Just trying to get a good idea of how that hideous icon is going to work and pray that we can revert to our old icons within the custom rom user space.

    Thanks!

  6. Quickest way to update is to;

    • Backup everything on SD card. (store in on PC, or somewhere safe.)
    • Restore completely to stock.  (You'll be prompted to ZV8 update from here, take it.)
    • Download the ZV8 to ZVA update zip from XDA and rename it to update.zip, place it on root of your internal storage.
    • Reboot into STOCK recover and select the option "Apply update.zip"
    • Should be running stock ZVA.  But - there's no guarantee of root access.

Best option would be to wait until someone with the update pulls the /system and we just compile a pre-rooted ROM on ZVA firmware.

EDIT: Damn, my phone picked a really bad time to act up.  It's off for repair now.  Likely will have it back in about two weeks.

He's stock, no root and man, that sucks you just sent your phone out didn't you.

  7. I'll be honest. I only made the switch because of band 41, and knowing this update was coming very soon. It's a huge learning curve, and I'll probably never get used to android. iOS is just smoother, easier, and everything is integrated perfectly for me. It is a very nice device, though, and very snappy. I get awesome b25 in and around the suburbs of Chicago, but 30kbps lte when I'm at work won't cut it, so, receiving this update is critical. I have 10 days left before I'm locked in.

    Vince

Can DEFINITELY appreciate that man, I hear ya. It take a little bit but hopefully you have friends (and of course this and other forums) to help with the learning curve.

Also, I need to ask a question: since owning this phone (and never once in years of owning my iPhones) I've had restricted access to certain sites. I've been unable to login to my Yahoo mail because it said I may be blocked or malicious activity may be coming from my isp (while on Sprint lte). I've also been blocked from this site. A quick airplane toggle to obtain a new ip fixed both instances.

    Vince

I have never seen this before.

  8. Since its my first experience with this, are we talking a game of hours? Days? Weeks?

    Vince

Should be days BUT there is no real way to know honestly.  How is your conversion from that iPhone going anyway? I remember you inquiring about the G2, hope you are enjoying the ride. :)

I'm not waiting up to 10 days lol. Never used ADB before but im going to update it using that or brick my phone trying. My struggle.

"May the odds, be ever in your favor"  :tu:

  9. Honestly, our membership is pretty bad with that.

    AJ

Ha ha, yeah, I knowz it but figured I'd try.  It'll just take one impatient non-waiter to softbrick their phone then the other impatient folks will see the hell NOT waiting can bring.  Unfortunate situation that serves as a great learning lesson for others.  Technical people who dive in and out of the inner workings of root/deving/etc. being impatient is one thing but for people that are not rooted, have the option to truly easily install the update who don't have adb tool knowledge wanting to make their first foray into it, manually pushing an OTA that isn't 12hr old.... well, I see bad things on the horizon.

I'm sure they'll figure it out but cutting teeth this way is silly IMHO but that's just me.  :ninja:

  10. Im stock non rooted. I need step by step instructions on how to manually install this update.

    Step 1: Wait

It's the easiest most full proof way.  :tu:  :tu:

Even if you are in "Spark" market, having it today isn't going to save any lives so I'd wait still.

  11. I downloaded the linked file and installed the update in TWRP.  Worked just fine.  Used same method as last update.  Disabled Xposed.  Flash update zip in TWRP, Flashed latest update SU.zip. Reboot and Spark update installed.  I do apparently need to reinstall TWRP recovery though.  All new versions check out.

The new update included a new recovery (it can probably be stripped out of that update zip) so that makes sense... You took care of ALL flashing from TWRP and until recovery was rebooted, the new stock one was not loaded. Question for you, what rom were you/are you on and care to provide the SU zip you used?

    Thanks for the update!

  12. You could only have them as 1 or 0 before the update correct?

Also if that is true, shouldn't it be from highest band to lowest? That seems to make more sense to me...

    -Luis

That is true, it was 1 or 0 before and I believe the lower the number the higher the priority.  So the most common band is 25 and lower since we'll all mostly be on that and it'll bypass the others since they aren't really meant to be the priority bands, they are the fall back bands. When we're our of band 25 and around any 26 or 41 the phone should switch over at it's first change and then probably hand out as long as possible, just like our 800 voice. At least, that is how I understand it and it makes sense to me why they would do it that way.

  13. I'd stay off CM11 for now until they fix the bug that causes the device to unregister from Sprint's network.  Unfortunately, it's carried over to my backup so I'm having to wipe the device completely and go stock.

Oh damn.... sorry to hear that man!

Id like to root my phone but ive been trying to wait for the spark update before i do. I had my gs3 rooted and i liked it cause you get updates faster and just a lot more customizable.

    Ah, ok, I think.

Where you asking a question or just thinking out loud?

  14. Thinking of switching from my 5s to a g2. Does anyone have a concrete answer as to when the spark update will rollout? Or is still just rumors. How does the g2 perform on band 41 without the update? Thanks.

Comon man, 5S < G2 by long shot.... forget about the update, you'll surely forget all about the iPhone when you get G2.  I'm not saying that because I think the iPhone is a joke... but I actually turned a long time iPhone user to G2 (during the free deal at Best Buy) and she is very Very VERY happy and misses nothing having to do with iOS.  :tu:  :tu:

Just wanted to say, for those that are hesitant to become a sponsor @drakeshreddy took the plunge and he, as we all were, is getting to see some really, REALLY neat stuff going on in our market.  We have had, I think 8 towers go live in the last 48hr and the trend should continue. Great things happening in our market! See below if you'd like to join us on the other side.  :tu:  :tu:

  16. All the sudden my signal check pro app has stopped showing signal it says mobile data active but as far as the rest is blank.?? Im puzzled about this haha.

Did you turn off location services? It needs it.

  17. Just saying..

    {style_image_url}/attachicon.gif tmp_Screenshot_2014-01-06-09-21-09-1836372207.png

Exactly! ^ wth. I'll have the thing replaced again if need be. I make it a day which is all I really need since I plug it in anyways. I still feel like it should be a LOT better than this.

Not really exactly though, it means nothing without knowing how much use the phone saw, such as screen on time. I'm not saying the phone being on battery that long isn't great, but I am sayin, don't assume you have a lemon.

Get GSam Battery stats (it's free) and look at what is going on. Also, if location services is that high, and you aren't using anything that needs it, then turn off GPS and possibly location services all together.

  19. Even with everything frozen or deleted on my phone through greenify and titanium backup I still only get a day with moderate use. When I first got the phone I got almost 2 days. Ideas?

Freezing apps and services means nothing if you replace with others that are worse. It's impossible to give any answer without knowing what apps you run and also knowing how much screen time vs on battery time would be good. They GSam Battery (as seen in my screens) to narrow down and see a trend of your battery use. I normally go 19-22hr on battery with 5-6hr of screen on time. That's phenomenal really, in my book, but YMMV. :)

  20. A few things I noticed when I hunt for new LTE on my G2. The first is that when a new tower is accepted and only speeds are likely to be under 10mpbs on download and under 7 on upload especially in rural areas. The second thing I noticed is new tower always have the eCSFB issue and is fixed remotely anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month after the tower has been updated. The upgrade can happen at anytime. One tower that i seen the update happened at 3am in the morning.

That sucks man, we have been seeing (because I have been able to personally report on acceptance day and follow up after) eCSFB software deployment between 12 and 48hr max in our Omaha/Lincoln NE market.

We also have all 3G/800 accepted towers we're working with here so no legacy equipment beside 3 towers between the 2 Cities.
