Sprint must be getting asked about SF alot. Hence the Bay Area being the only market question in the Spark FAQ thread.
http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/5007-spark-faqs/
Q: Sprint announced that 4G LTE is “coming soon” to the Bay Area. When will that be?A: We haven’t announced specific date for the rollout of 4G LTE in San Francisco and San Jose. We continue to build out 4G LTE and we will launch when the LTE footprint is large enough to ensure a good network experience. In the meantime, Sprint customers may discover LTE signal (if they have a Sprint LTE compatible device) before we officially launch in that city. [Keep in mind that if they discover LTE today, any speeds, connection or coverage that customers may experience isn't necessarily representative of what they will see in that city at launch.] We do offer LTE in the following locations in the Bay Area: Contra Costa County, Oakland, Fremont, Hayward, Napa, Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Vallejo and Fairfield -
Los Angeles is a 1st round market that began in late 2011. SF Bay is a solid second round market that begun in mid 2012.
Oh OK, mea culpa, that makes me feel a little better. I really was impressed by the coverage in LA. The drive on i5, not so much. I did get cdma 800 from 40 miles away though. That was unexpected.

I was in LA over the holiday and lte was pretty great every where I went. Pretty consistent. A shame sf can't get its act together for whatever reason. I think la started after sf in terms of deployment too. The ramping up of bay area 3g acceptance is promising I just wish there was some knowledge on why sf proper is status quo for several months now.

I'm about 40 miles away from that tower as well. Still trying to figure out which tower I got CDMA 800 from.
Sucks my CDMA 800 signal didn't last long enough to get a screenshot of the exact location
It went in and out alot as I drove closer to it. I also connected to some further south. But never got to see location before I lost it. So not sure if it was the same tower or not.

Any word on how LTE coverage inside STAPLES Center is?. Last time I went was back in April and it was non existent inside the arena. I can't imagine too much has changed probably because the LTE can't penetrate inside the building. I do know STAPLES Center installed WiFi, hopefully it suffices, although with my experience in San Diego, PETCO Park's WiFi which is sponsored by Verizon, is ridiculously slow for non Verizon customers and I know Verizon sponsors the WiFi at STAPLES Center.

I got lte inside Staples last week. Was pretty useless once the game started. Don't think it was a DAS. 3G worked better. Surprising since there were sprint signs inside.

How do I get to the "downloads" section...
I've tried every clear I can think of... Driving me nuts right now..
hmmm. apparently it was just the 23423 time hitting clear that seemed to take?
In the app drawer.

Are you noticing increased late performance? At home I usaully get anywhere from -107 dbm to -115 dbm. Now last night and this morning have had constant -99dbm to about -102.
Haven't noticed better lte. My house is in the fringe. And I connect sporadically about the same amount at before. I'll try to take note of dbm next time.

After a couple of hours, not a bad upgrade. It was real laggy for the first couple of hours. Has settled down and seems a lot smoother then 4.1.2 because of TRIM I'm assuming.
Minor cosmetic changes in certain apps and fonts. New 4g and 3g like i mentioned above.
Disappointed that samsung doens't allow lockscreen widgets when you have a secured lockscreen (password/pattern/pin). Stupid.
But I do like daydream
If anyone is having the persistant notification bug that shows old jpg downloads. Just do a clearall in the downloads section.

Download the following update zip and place it on your external sd. Go to settings/security and make sure unknown sources is unchecked.
Shut off phone. Press volume up, power and home button at the same time. As soon as you see a flash, let go of the buttons. This will put you in stock recovery. Using the volume bar to select and power button to activate, select update from external storage. Choose the file you previously put there. Push your power button. Your update will begin.
This is only for those with STOCK unrooted phones with STOCK recovery.

I grabbed the zip direct from google servers.

I hadn't thought of it.. only because nobody ever asked for it, and until my Nexus 5 arrived today, Android 4.1 was the newest version I had used. I'll keep that extra space on the pulldown in mind!

Yeah I think the expanded notifications are a great feature that is either not used often by developers and/or also not known by alot of users. Highly underrated.

Mike have you ever thought about expandable notifications. Where you can swipe down with 2 fingers on a notification to show more info. I was thinking this would be useful for something like 1x bsl. I use bsl for 1x 800 alot since it squawks the correct location for me.

Network Vision/LTE - SF Bay Market

East bay had a nice little 3G update, including Berkeley! Trying to eradicate the purple in the East Bay.
Seems like the Berkeley cluster launch was close to the highway probably to help alleviate handoffs issues.
Unfortunately no SF updates. Again.
I did find another CDMA 800 site in Daly City. Right near Serramonte mall. That's the 3rd CDMA 800 site I've found.
