  1. It was great when clearwire sites got us b41 online quicker, but now it has been holding us back (from full out 8t8r) and that is pretty annoying. I know, 'who needs 8t8r' and/or 'be happy you got any b41'. blah blah blah I'm pretty sure the connection issues with my hotspot are caused by mixed market sprint/clear b41 networks that still are not fully integrated (or if they are, they are still some weird compatibility issues).
  2. I don't disagree regarding the difficulty and dynamic nature of speeds at any point in time on a mobile nature. That is why I think that 8 segments is silly. However the 2 or 3 segmentations I listed have enough separation to make the valuation something the end user could see a difference in. Obviously yes, if a provider had a 3 meg service and 10 meg service, but their network average was 4-6, then there would be zero point to the 10 meg service. But if you have a service which peaks 100+, and can consistently provide 10+ in most scenarios/locations, then a 3/10/uncapped meg service limit might not be a bad thing. If offers choice to the consumer, and can help reduce network load, which is something that a lot of you are so ever concerned about. For every person on the 3/10 meg service, that is one less person sucking up 100+ megs or whatever the max available bw at location provides. Anyway, like I have said before, we can debate ad nauseum, but since the only ones to control sprint's network and consumer plans, is sprint and not much we say here is going to effect that in any great means.
  3. what he is proposing/pushing for, is *up to* speed caps. Not guaranteed speed. So even if the tower had the bandwidth to supply a user with 30+ meg, on an 8meg plan you would get artificially capped at 8meg. This is essentially what clearwire did with their wimax service, it was capped at either 1.5meg or 6 meg down, and like 1 meg up. I don't agree that there needs to be 8 different subscription rates, but you could have 2, maybe 3 different rates. a 3 meg unlimited, a 10 meg unlimited, and an uncapped/best speed unlimited plan. at say, 40, 60, 80$ price points, or whatever makes economical sense.
  4. I think it is a fair assessment to say, that for the last more than 2 years non-contract services have been available, and heavily pushed by all the carriers, that a majority of those who are still on 2 year contracts, specifically chose that option. It is not a great leap to say, that a great subset of those users would likewise choose to remain on contract, and if forcibly prevented from that option, would not be very happy. Of course none of us have any inkling who or how upset anyone else besides our own selves would be, because after all, there is no 'upset factor' reported or recorded, other than perhaps churn. And even churn is not a great indicator because there are so many other factors that affect churn. Like others, I knew from the beginning of the introduction of non-subsidized service, that the only ones to benefit will be the carriers. Non-subsidized service is and has been a bald-face money grab, and anyone who isn't upset about paying more for the same (or less) service, well I supposed they just don't care about saving money.
  5. I didn't see any options listed for that, but I also am still using hangouts integration.

  7. Just got the ios voice app update. The new app is very much cleaner and easier to use, but has a somewhat confusing setup. Your pre-hangouts messages and history will be there (as they were in the old voice app and website). You are given the option to continue using hangouts for messaging, or switch messages back into the voice app. Doesn't look like there will be any merge of message history from hangouts to voice, so if you switch back to voice it looks like you wouldn't have any recent messages (though I assume they will remain in hangouts). The dialer is much better than ios hangouts dialer, you can scroll through your contacts and dial there, or dial directly via keypad. For now I have kept hangouts integration, but I may switch back to voice. In order to send texts from the new voice web site, you must disable hangouts. I have sprint integration, with 2 gv numbers, my original GV number, and my original sprint number. I've been using my original sprint number as my primary gv number since sprint integration was available, and so far there hasn't been any effect to that. If I ever had to remove sprint integration, I would want to keep my old sprint number as my main GV number (assume I would need a new # to replace it, if I ported it out to GV).

  9. Yeah, after a couple days of chaos, I bit the bullet on the itunes clean restore/reset. Will see how it goes over the next week and visit the jeans bar if it goes south again.
  10. My 7+ is going batshit crazy today. My bluetooth keeps going on and off by itself, apps keep closing, googlemusic, settings, app store, and it keeps freezing up and screen won't respond for 10+ seconds at a time.
  11. I'm not too impressed with the battery life of my 7+, compared to my 6+. The call quality/volume also seems poorer. Other than that, everything else seems equal or slightly better than the 6+. Really the only reason I upgraded was to get CA. Well I also got the gift card from best buy, which I figured is about the only discount I was going to see on them.
  12. DId you add your calyx device to a new/separate account, or add it to your existing sprint account (assuming you had one)?
  13. Never never never give your device back to your carrier. Sell it on ebay/craigslist, or give/gift it to a family member or friend. Much less headache.
  14. I wonder if this is related to hand offs between clear (or clear network backhauled) sites and native sprint sites. I find a lot of times when riding in a car in stl, some games will get interrupted during handoffs. I believe this has to do with different IP networks between legacy clearwire b41 sites and native sprint sites. I don't really see a loss of signal due to full screen game blocking status bar, i just lose my match and/or are forced into a reconnected session.
  15. I missed this thread somehow until now, thanks for posting, nice with 3 different options for folks!

    thanks for the detailed info!

    HTC Bolt

What kind of battery life are you getting, and what were you expecting? Does it last at least a day ? I'm thinking of steering my parents towards the bolt, they both currently have nexus 5's which while still usable, are starting to show their age.
  18. Personally I'm lookin for the best deal on ipad mini 4 with 32/64gig and the unlimited tablet plan.
  19. time for a user thread? and where to put it, under htc or google, eh.
