  1. No doubt someone would have equally complained of resurrecting an old thread.
  2. Now, how can i get the best deal on an ipad mini 4 along with unlimited tablet plan?
  3. I don't know (regarding bootloader), neither device is being marketed for development. I hope they continue with the nexus style unlockable bootloader, but I'm not going to assume that it will be. If they have a 'nexus' tablet in the pipeline, they may relegate 'development' openness to that device.
  4. I'm a little disappointed, specifically in regards to no wireless charging or water resistance (and of course price). Also, I haven't seen anything to indicate that these will be open to mods, so while I do think it likely ala nexus style, you may want to wait for confirmation if that is something specific you are expecting.
  5. but but but what will all the iphools do without a home button!!11!!1 I think its dumb if they eventually move to a software button, as a physical home button is one of the 'defining features' of an iphones design, physically and software wise. Where will this software button go? will they leave a black bar at the bottom with just the single button icon? What about landscape mode, will the software button rotate with the screen portrait/landscape? or will they copy android and add a back and multitask button on either side of the home button? will it simply be the existing assistive touch button? (options > general > accessibility > assistivetouch) so many questions!
  6. I would start with investigating and learning as much as you can about the G.7 voice codecs used in telecommunications services. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_codecs#Voice see also https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice/voice-quality/7934-bwidth-consume.html and searching for voip codecs will provide a lot of material to check out.
  7. I don't think anyone is disagreeing with that point. Speed tests are not useless, but I don't think anyone expects or wants them to be higher prioritized over normal or even 'important' data. Giving speed tests higher, or lower priority than normal traffic further reduces the accuracy and diagnostic point of even doing the test in the first place. If someone does a speed test on an already loaded sector, the effect on anyone else on the sector is minimal because the sector is already overloaded and the speed test (again unless intentionally prioritized higher) will either time out or show the slow speeds that everyone is already getting. In any case, usefulness of any data is all about perspective. Watching a dumb cat or baby video maybe pointless to you. But for someone else, it could be a grandmother watching a far off granddaughter play or relive memories of a favorite pet. Or the usefulness of checking your bank account vs reading the reddits and 4chans of the world. It is no one else business to judge the usefulness or lack thereof, of anyone else data usage, as long as doesn't break the law or sprints terms of service. Finally, if sprint does have problems with someones usage, they can and will take their own measures about it.
  8. conjecture. please, provide facts to prove your assumption that speed tests occur more frequently than I (or anyone else besides your self) believe. Also, prove how frequently I believe those alleged speed tests are occurring.
  9. thought new phone user threads got a fresh new thread?
  10. this was out earlier this week, didn't see any topic here yet. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/09/report-huawei-is-building-a-successor-to-the-nexus-7/ I'm totally looking forward to a new nexus (or whatever name) 7" android tablet since my n7-2013 died several months ago. I wanted to get a nexus 9, but never got around to it, and it is bigger than I prefer anyway. Hopefully it will be an affordable high quality high-end tablet, equal or better than the ipad mini 4.
  11. No, I am pretty sure that means the lock screen must be disabled. IE No lock screen or fingerprint lock. Logged out and deactivated from icloud. etc
  12. I consider myself an audio enthusiast, and I get to listen to my headphones at work pretty much everyday all day. I stream google play music at high quality, with some decent but not overly expensive headphones. Even so I recognize that there are little to no benefits of 500k+ audio in the vast majority of scenarios that involve mobile device audio (or similar device without cellular). Most sane people who are into audio also understand this. While I believe audio quality is important, I recognize it is more important to myself than for others. And while I don't like any limits, I also believe the 500k audio limit in 99% of the cases will be sufficient for all but the 'audiophool'. And for those people, they can gtfo anyway. Like it goes @ hydrogen audio; ABX test or stfu.
  13. Like others I think this argument has gone on long enough. 1) the restrictions are not even in force yet 2) 'as many customer may not know what that mean's' if they don't know what it means, then they won't know to care or complain either. 3) even with all the higher quality improvements in newer devices and using super high quality expensive headphones, anyone who cares about quality that much is going to be using LOSSLESS audio direct from device storage/memory card. Not streaming. And those 1% who are streaming tidal/other 500k+ streams are probably not going to be on this plan, and if they do they can opt pay the extra if it really bothers them that much, or switch carriers. 4) If sprint does get enough complaints, they can and will change the plan as appropriate. Going on and on repeatedly here does nothing and will have zero effect on what sprint will or won't do in regards to audio throttling/compression/optimizations.
  14. yup different cards have different returns and often for different classes of goods (ie groceries or gas, etc). keep in mind the above 10% offer is for a limited time, and availability of offers vary depending on your particular card and credit score.
  15. RE: auto pay The best thing to do is have a credit card that gives good points or good percentage back. Then put all the bills you have, that can be paid via credit card, auto pay on to that good points card. Then you will automatically start accruing those points, just for paying your normal bills. As long as you continue to pay your total amount of bill payments to your credit card, you don't even get hit with interest charges. For example, I have approximately $400 of auto pay bills going to a discover card (1% cashback all transactions). I make $200 payments (every 2 weeks), that cover the monthly bills, no interest charges, and a slow continuous increasing amount of cashback funds.
  16. I hate this new google separate allo/duo crap. All they had to do was keep working on hangouts and optimizing/improving it. If they wanted, they could make it as seamless as imessage, and have audio/video/messaging all integrated into one seamless experience. I wish I could make hangouts the default dialer/messenger for all my devices, even as it is.
  17. Those of you who really want VOLTE, there are 2 really easy and free solutions you can use right now with VOIP. Hangouts+dialer+google voice. Works on iphone and android and tablets. facetime audio. Instead of using your iphone dialer, use your facetime dialer. obviously this only works idevice to idevice, but if you are calling family/friends with idevices, then all you have to do is train yourself to use the facetime app instead of dialer app.
  18. I'm torn between the blue and the black. Also, want to see what google and apple brings out next. Arggggg. There should only be 1 release date for all of the things... 12/24!
  19. time for a non-rumor thread?
