  1. I do too, although he presided over a different era in wireless. He had the right idea, though. One plan for everyone: ED450 for single lines, ED1500 for multi-line accounts. More minute buckets if you needed them. Nobody ever went over because data and text were unlimited, and the only minutes that counted were landlines during the day. Understanding your bill was simple because it was the same every month. No reason to call in because you couldn't really change your plan - there was only one to pick, and since you never went over you never had to call in to explain a mysterious fee or charge. Wait times, even with more customers back in the day, were measured in seconds when calling Care. And you always spoke to someone in the US - they'd even answer the phone saying "Thank you for calling Sprint, this is XXX from the Charlotte call center."

Now it seems every customer has a different promotion, a different credit, a different lease payment. Things change like a roller coaster every few weeks. Nowadays I routinely wait 10+ minutes to speak to someone at a contracted overseas call center who probably handles a totally different company next time the phone rings, and is thus not trained on Sprint at all. Existing customers can't get the best pricing.

The everything data plans were the best plans ever!! They were so easy to sell too lol

  2. Adding 2.5 to every site isn't going to fix the problems I have with Sprint. They need to add a lot more sites to do that.

    From a 2013 post

"Sprint disclosed in July that it plans to deploy Clearwire's 2.5 GHz spectrum using TD-LTE on all 38,000 of its planned Network Vision cell sites in a nationwide rollout. And, due to the weaker propagation characteristics of 2.5 GHz, Sprint will also deploy small cells and other sites beyond the 38,000 Network Vision sites. Previously, Sprint had said it would use Clearwire's spectrum as a "hotspot" LTE network to offload traffic in urban markets."

  3. I hope Marcelo wakes up from his delusion pretty quick because a lot of people are leaving sprint for Verizon because of this new deal.

Almost every post on Vzw's Reddit page says "left Sprint" "trying to leave Sprint" etc.

Sprint has offered unlimited plans the longest, it' s their nitch, they can't let Verizon and others take that away from them.

  4. I wonder what Sprint is going to do to counter these moves by Verizon and Tmobile in the past 2 days. Sprint cannot afford to stand pat and do nothing or else their net adds are going to drop like a rock.

With all that 2.5 GHz spectrum that Sprint boasts about, it is simply unacceptable to be offering non-HD video streaming especially with small cells launching and 3xCA launch later on this year. Sprint should be able to handle that traffic with no problem and if not there is something simply wrong with the way Sprint is deploying the network. The market has spoken and people are not willing to accept non-HD video. Based on the reaction so far about the Verizon Unlimited plan, people are willing to pay more to get 10 GB high speed hotspot tethering AND HD video streaming. Even though AT&T is going to implement "Stream Saver" in early 2017, it seems like there is a way to manually opt out of it and maintain HD video streaming (which I am sure a lot of people will do) with the purpose of Stream Saver is to help those that on data buckets to make their data last longer.

Sprint should change their tune and offer HD video in their Unlimited Freedom plan to compete with Verizon and Tmobile. In addition Sprint needs to increase their 5 GB hotspot tether to at least 10 GB high speed hotspot tether to compete. However I feel that Sprint should "One up" the competition and offer 15 GB high speed tethering to try to claw back some of the customers.

The fact that Sprint only offers promos to new customers is ridiculous. Fundamentally Sprint needs to get it out of their heads that retaining current customers is way more important than trying to get new customers. Tmobile allows their current customers to take advantage of new promos so Sprint needs to do the same for its current customers or they will be dead in the water. So many people are ready to jump off of Sprint just in a split second from what Verizon and Tmobile are offering

I agree with all of this. I think they should keep the pricing for unlimited freedom the same, increase hotspot to 15gb, remove the other restrictions and make it available for new/existing customers

But Sprint needs to make sure they EXCEED their network goals this year. At the end of the day it comes down to the network. VoLTE needs to come this year. No excuses

  5. I feel like we're all traitors lol. I'm sure Marcelo is looking at these comments like

But in all seriousness, I'm curious to see how Masa will respond. Sprint's network plans sound promising (on paper) this year but we all know how they are when it comes to execution.

  6. What I find funny is that people are comparing capex of the other networks to what is sprint doing now, but failed to realize that Sprints you heavy work with network ripping was already done. Now just adding capacity, the others are busy consolidating and upgrading equipment. So if you want to compare. You have to look further back on Sprint. The Capex argument is getting old to, just like the merger rumors that keep popping up.

Makes sense. Sprint needs to merge/collaborate with a cable company or Dish b/c it needs to offer more than just wireless service. I'm all for a Sprint/T-Mobile merger but I would prefer SoftBank to buy Charter or Dish. I feel it would be better long term.

    Just my opinion.

A Sprint/T-Mobile/Dish Merger would be amazing lol

  8. I don't use Reddit all like that but can someone explain to me why they are so dramatic over there? They have the topic up about the Tidal fiasco and the comments are TEW much. Folks saying their going to be bankrupt, people will be porting out and everything under the sun.

Yes this purchase was very left and has a lot of unanswered questions and that money could be better used on the network we can all agree on. There's just no way possible that Sprint would be that dumb to throw away money in a streaming service that is struggling. I feel there's more to this. Who's to say that that 200 mil was already set aside or hell SB purchased it but is letting Sprint take the credit. Who's to say honestly. I just don't see them cutting into their money for the network for Tidal but I don't put nothing past anyone.

I'm interested into seeing where this goes and kind of excited in what deal Sprint users will get out of this.
