  1. I'm beginning to fear there is way too much hope being put on this "magic box" in a window. Need more than a box, that by the way, I get to pay the electricity to run, in my window. It's called Towers...

I feared the same but Marcelo bounced they partnered with a cable company for their small cell roll out. Magic Box is just the cherry on top I guess

  2. Why did it change?

Did Hesse have an actual funding plan for 2.5 GHz to every site? Was Hesse's plan/strategy better?

True, WiMAX did have to stay on longer and the small cells got delayed. IBEZ as well, but that finally seems to be moving.

I guess no actual Macro expansion was included in this plan? Sprint was simply going to densify its existing footprint?

I'm not sure. Remember Hesse wanted to buy Metro PCS but the board shot it down. Maybe Hesse was banking on SoftBank to fund the 2.5 expansion but SoftBank and Son gave Hesse the "Bye FELECIA" lol

It was clear that Hesse and Son had their own different visions of Sprint though

  3. It's definitely on more sites now than it used to be, though I don't know if that's all the 8T8R sites or not. (It's definitely on the ones I regularly pass by.)

The big problem that I see is that there's so much Clear gear around that it seems almost like 50/50 whether you're on Clear or 8T8R, and the Clear gear can't do more than 2x CA. Some of them are still running just one B41 carrier, though at least two of the sites that used to be in that boat near me are now running two, so they're obviously working on that as well.

I keep forgetting about the old clear gear. Sprint will need to eventually change these to either 8t8r or 64t64r correct?

  4. Didn't Hesse or Marcelo originally say that 2.5 GHz was going to be deployed on every tower?

Marcelo then changed the 2.5 GHz deployment strategy to be targeted deployments... but it's unclear if the "2.5 GHz on every site" promise still stands.

Hesse originally said, then when Marcelo took over he changed the strategy, however Marcelo and Son said Sprint would have a "Next Gen" network and be #1 or 2 by this time.

keep in mind they promised that before WiMAX was forced to stay on longer than expected, failed small cell roll out (not entirely Sprint's fault), IBez pushback, and among other things.

I swear Legere has a Sprint Voodoo doll lol. Sprint can't catch a break on some things lol

  5. ???????????? Me too! But it's good that people are positive about sprint! We just need more to become positive and enthusiastic!

Lmao!! It's really hard to be positive due to the several let downs but I'm going to try!! I'm always rooting for Sprint though and hope they have my business again.

All I need from them is to have 3XCA (Dense) and Volte in my market then I'll switch back to them. However I'm going to wait until the 2018 iPhone to come out.

  6. It will be 5 years in July! So much ha changed in 5 years

    - WiMAX to LTE

    - band 25 the only lte carrier

    - IDEN phasing out

    -800 voice

    - Here comes SoftBank

    - Dish almost ???? Block SoftBank

    - Sprint bought Clearwire

    - SoftBank bought Sprint

    - Sprint Spark

    - LTE Plus

Been through it all lol. I love this site. I honestly didn't know much about cellphone networks until I joined. I remember when I started working at shentel (no longer employed there) I was determine to learn more about Sprint's network itself since I started working there in the early stages of network vision. We had so many customers coming and complaining about the network, so I decided to research online and I googled searched "Sprint 4GLTE soon" (something along those lines) and BAM! I clicked on this site and never left.

Even though I am currently not a Sprint customer, I still want Sprint to win and I hope their brand lives on.

  7. Outdoors within a few dozen to 100 feet of the building it is in. Depends on the building. In a small house, theoretically it could cover a couple of houses.

I think they said it can reach 100 meters outside which is about 300 feet. Also imagine if you're in a neighborhood that has a few of these turned on. It can probably cover the whole neighborhood pretty good (depending how spaced out they are and how big the neighborhood is of course)

  8. They are still deploying hundreds-thousands of small cells. That project has really ramped up lately, seeing them going in in places like Omaha and Lincoln, NE. Not to mention all of the small cells in the bigger cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Minneapolis, etc. Lots of Mini-Macro B41 and B26 sits going in across all markets now to help with density as well.

That's good. I haven't really been following all the individual forums. Did they mention anything about Capex on the call. IIRC, the CFO said it will be much higher all of 2017, so based on what you told me it seems they are committing to it.

I still don't see them expanding much until they are merged though.

  9. I think it's to help with reach cause a tower does need to be near by. I think it's a great idea for public places and, people are willing to put it in their homes. Sprint still needs to densify and, hopefully expand to att coverage.

Don't see that happening until they are merged/acquired. Their "Densify" strategy right now is HPUE and Magic Box. Both great solutions for Sprint customers (so I'm not knocking it)...

Im just curious which direction they will go. I honestly don't think it will be T-Mobile. For some unknown reason I'm thinking Charter.
